I was glad to make peace with Lobo and Isamu before they left for Tochigi. The next day afternoon we convened in the KODA council Hall, Aurora and Lovita seemed to be in the highest spirits among the rest of us.

A usual round of updates on the round table made Lucian yawn and Tala huff.

" I can see that you all prefer when we have problems and have to look over our shoulders. " I drawled at how bored they deemed to be" How about in the next meeting, you all devise plans on how to upgrade Chugach to its latest technology and offer the pack a versatile tech city? "

" That is a good idea Alpha Conri " Lovita jumped right in.

" Plus I would like to build a bridge between Sitka and Chugach. This is all Lucian’s idea and Due Corporation will fully fund it " I announced.

" Chugach and Sitka are close to each other through family and friendship. I agree, this is a good idea"

" I would like to suggest we train the enforcers and create an army garrison in Chugach. All we have is park enforcers but an army is missing when other packs have army generals and a fully stocked army" Hunter spoke up.

" I spoke to Commander Abram last night and they are on the way back to Chugach. I can bet that they will be of great help" Lucian announced.

" So how is Aspen’s mate?" Zeeb wondered out loud.

" He will tell you himself, " Lucian laughed.

" You already know?" Zeeb gasped and Tala leaned forward.

"It’s none of my business" Lucian raised hands , making Aurora and Lovita laugh. Keith, Everest, and Levy remained silent throughout the KODA council meeting.

" Spit it out, " I demanded from Everest.

" What do you mean Alpha Conri ?" His eyes darted elsewhere.

" What are the three of you about ?" Lucian pointed at them.

" Alpha, I will be honest with you. You know crazy Loraine was our aunty. And our father ended up the same. But what you don’t know is that Pa had another brother. His name is Maurice Isla. I have a feeling he was the one who helped her become batshit crazy" Keith confessed.

" Why the fuck are you only telling us such news?" Lucian banged the table.

" Calm down," I commanded him.

" Because Uncle Maurice called me. He was crying on the phone saying that he was coming for the one who killed his sister. He went on about the powers of the Tizheruk and the King of Wolves. That no one could stop him. That he already got rid of the Dolf family and Odwolf Freki. " The end of this sentence was hushed.

" What the fuck did you say " I growled so loud that the table in the room shook.

" It could be the ramblings of psycho" Everest growled too.

" Or it could be the truth," Tala pointed out.

" We need to track him. Give Anisha your phone so that she can trace the call. " Zeeb stated.

" He is on the Northern border. I already checked "Levy spoke up.

" One more thing, I have a feeling that the shifter serpents were not for Lorraine. My Uncle Maurice had shifter blood. I had no idea how or when but I heard it once from Pa" Keith stated.

" What else ?" I demanded.

"That is all. I wanted to go back to Pa’s garage and rummage through the old documents to see if I could find something. " Keith confessed.

" Conri, was there something odd with Lorraine when you went to the Northern border? " Lucian asked me.

" She acted crazy and Tizheruk killed her. The truth is that she poisoned Tizheruk when we arrived, threw Ricin powder and paralyzed him. Thank the moons that Tizheruk was prepared for and used his inner beast to neutralize the poison. I pushed the power of the King of Wolves to heal him. Lorraine was so happy about this and I wondered who would be bold enough to go to the pearl nest barrier and get the poison. So I guess it’s Maurice Isla. " I narrated.

" What if the attack that he did at the northern border was just to test you and Tizheruk? He might have a bigger plan in mind " Lucian growled.

" That was my thinking. " Levy finally spoke up." The problem with Isla is that we are relentless dogs and we hold on to a bone for so long, biting it and never letting go. Maurice Isla is worse"

" How did it get from the Aria family to Isla? When will all these end ?"

" You have nothing to do with your parent’s or relative’s mistakes" Tala scolded Levy and she made us all smile amidst the looming problem.

" We better keep this within the KODA council. I don’t want my mother to be worried. The doctor said that she would be delivering soon and any worry might trigger her blood pressure" Hunter stated.

" Agreed " We all responded.

" When did you say Commander Abram is coming back ?" I turned to Lucian.

"Today," Lucian announced.

" Good. We need good trackers to go to the mountains and flash Maurice out. " I nodded.

" I wish Isamu and Lobo had not left, " Hunter cursed.

" The twins would know about Maurice. Can we call it Lobo?" Tala asked.

" The jet is already airborne. Unless we do it when they land which is later in the evening " I responded.

" Ma, you are so silent, " Lovita noted.

" Because I am trying to rake my brain about Maurice. The Islas were always peaceful, I know that the person who messed Loraine up was Aria. But Maurice? There is much more than meets the eye. It seems that we have overlooked something. I can’t quite point it out. "

" You feel it right?" Lovita nodded at Aurora.

" Yes. It’s like it’s right in front of us and we can’t see it ’ Aurora responded. " How did he know about Tizheruk and the power of the King of Wolves? Even if he found Lorraine’s body, he could not have guessed who killed her. It does not add up"

" A mole is the only answer, " Addison stated. " Someone amongst us has been spying and giving Maurice information. "

" What the fuck is wrong with people? " Everest growled.

" Alpha Conri, I suggest we remain vigilant and not let our guards down. Once the Battalion of Commander Abraham arrives, we can set off for the Northern border and go hunting. " Hunter stated.

" I will join you," Tala added.

" No more of you will go," I interjected before anyone could say they wanted to go." We can’t have everyone rushing to the Northern border" I growled.

"A man blinded by grief is dangerous," Aurora explained.

" Hunter, get all the enforcers to be on high alert. I will inform Tizheruk of the same. We stay on guard until he shows himself"

" Can I suggest Mother and Elder Zaya stay in Stika for now? "Addison spoke up.

" I agree. " Lucian stated.

" Is there anyone in the pearl farm?" Lucian asked Lovita.

" Do you think he would sneak into the pearl farm ?" Lovita gasped.

" He has a serpent shifter lineage. Hence he would stay near the water. Near the sea in the Northern mountains, or if in Chugach, the pearl farm would be a place he would hide and also harness the power of the pearls." Lucian pointed out.

" Why must evil people want to covet power?" Lovita complained.

" You are all dismissed. We better get working. When Commander Abram arrives, I shall invite you all to the Mansion so that we can keep brainstorming "

" Yes, Alpha Conri" They all piped and stood up to leave.

I raised my hand to beckon Everest to remain behind and asked "Is the work still finalizing on the Freki resort.?"

" Yes Alpha Conri" Everest nodded but I could tell he was absent-minded.

" Take a week’s break and pay them in full. We shall resume once this is sorted" I instructed.

" Thank you Alpha Conri" He nodded and left.

When I turned to Lucian, he was already calling Tizheruk and put the phone on speaker.

" Why is Dolf worried?" Those were the first words that came through the phone.

" We have a madman on the loose. He was the one who was helping Lorraine. His name is Maurice Isla. I suspect that he lured the old councilmen of Sitka and also obtained the Ricin poison. " I narrated.

" But I never saw him in my visions. Tizheruk stated and then added " I am here with Alexander and Chary. I have put the phone on speaker"

" Keith told us that he might be a serpent shifter, " I announced.

" What ?" Tizheruk and Alexander both yelled.

" That would explain a lot of things that we discovered from Lorraine"

" He must be a dark serpent shifter" Alexander stated.

" What the fuck is a dark serpent shifter?" Lucian demanded.

" One who is not born a shifter but obtains shifter power through merging with a serpent beast. This is a dark magic practice of the ancient serpents. That means that someone from the previous council merged with him and that is how he obtained shifter powers. " Alexandar narrated

" By the moons, how much more must we deal with, " Lucian complained while my brain felt an overload from the information Alexandar gave us.
