CONRI’S POV

Dinner at Godmother’s house was always lively; this time, it was even more loud and merry.

" Slow down on your drinking Godmother" I muttered under my breath as I leaned down to speak to her while at the dinner table.

" I am happy today. It’s been fifteen good years. I am allowed to drink myself silly " She clinked her glass with Mrs. Hemming who was in a similar state.

" How do we stop them ?" Hunter demanded from across the table.

" You can’t," Addison slurred as she sipped her glass and chuckled merrily.

" Is there a bug going around that I am unaware of ?" Keith cursed.

" Come on. We are happy. " Tala stated and Anisha giggled with her.

" I don’t get it ?" Lucian responded with his mouth full of food.

" We are happy that Conri is going to take over the pack," Alpha Luna stated.

" I am the happiest. Benjamin’s voice boomed.

" By the way you need to warn Lucian about the new pack assistant secretary, " Addison stated.

" What the fuck are you talking about " Keith cursed at Addison.

" Lucian will tear him into pieces if he even smiles at Conri" Benjamin laughed so loud that Luna smacked his head and he suppressed his laughter as his shoulders shook.

" What are they talking about ?" Anisha spoke up.

" John Tharn. The new pack assistant secretary. He keeps smiling like a fool and It seems that he irked Benjamin and Addison"

" I miss Haida. She would have just narrated it honestly without hiding her words " Anisha responded.

" Do you think I would be bothered by a small boy ?" Lucian responded.

" Wait until it happens to you " Benjamin raised his beer glass.

" Cut the crap all of you" Alpha Luna interjected. " I was being polite to him"

" And Lovita?" Benjamin muttered.

" I heard about that. I can assure you that this is not his doing. He is coming back because of the pressure from his bitter mother. His father was an asshole and I can assure you Aurora Storm bears a lot of resentment towards the Golden shifter pack. She is not coming back for anything good" Godmother announced.

" I am not worried. Conri will deal with her, " Lucian boasted.

" Are you drunk? " I turned to him in shock.

" We are celebrating right now and even if I get drunk you will carry me home. I am in safe hands " Lucian’s voice a notch higher and everyone at the table burst out laughing.

Once the laughter died down Mrs. Hemming spoke up " Have you spoken to Bering?"

"Yes. They are doing fine. Only Chary was shot by an assassin who was trying to take out Alexander. " Everyone’s shocked face made me hurriedly explain " But Alexander and Tizheruk sorted the matter. All is well in Sitka. "

" You mean Senator Fabgas? I know that he had a mean streak and always boasted about how he would oust Governor Alexander " Aspen narrated.

" Yes, that silly man. He is dead anyway " I shrugged my shoulders.

" Good good. We don’t need any more trouble" Godmother slurred her words.

" I am taking you to bed " Elanor appeared and plucked Godmother’s glass from her hand.

" Is Luke asleep?" Godmother asked.

" Yes, he is. ’’ Elanor responded as she pulled Godmother up and helped her out of the dining room while she waved goodnight to us.

" Come on Ma" Aspen stood up and walked over to Mrs. Hemming " Let me take you to bed. "

" When are you going to find a mate? I can smell the Addison scent in Keith. It seems those two made up" Mrs. Hemming slurred her words attempting to whisper but it was so loud that Addison cursed, Keith coughed to cover it up and we all laughed.

" Ma, lower your voice " Aspen scolded her.

" Hurry up. I need grandchildren. I have hope for Tala and Hunter. Soon I will get pups to raise " She continued to speak as Aspen attempted to shush her up and they disappeared in the corridor.

" Well, what can I say " Zeeb smirked at Hunter and Tala

" Forget what you heard " Tala scolded him as we continued to make merry into the night.

Alpha Luna called for a pack meeting two days later and everyone arrived at the Golden Shifter pack hall. Everyone was present, Ralph’s old friends and even undisciplined enforcer Amon Cain and his goons stood by the corner.

" Thank you all for coming. Alpha Luna stood in the middle of the hall flagged by Benjamin, Hunter, and Tala. The rest of us stood by the right side with Conri behind us.

" Why are we here for an unplanned meeting Alpha Luna" One of the pack members demanded.

" I have an important announcement to make " She stated and then the doors of the hall opened, Lovita arrived together with Aurora Storm. She stood tall, her gray hair flowing behind her and her blue eyes sparkled with coldness.

" Well, It was expected of them to be here" Godmother whispered. There were murmurs around but Alpha Luna raised her hand to silence everyone and silence resumed in the hall.

" As you all know, I assumed office as a temporary Alpha after we found Lobo Aria guilty of misconduct in the Golden shifter pack. Unexpectedly the news of my pregnancy stirred in the pack and some members felt that I should step down and a new pack Alpha would be voted in by the pack. I agree and honestly, I would rather raise my pups than manage pack affairs. Hence Today, I am here to step down as the pack Alpha and have the pack members select a new pack Alpha. "

" About time" We heard Amon mutter.

" That is right Amon. This is the right time" Alpha Luna pointed out and the pack members glared at Amon and he stepped back in shame." The members of the KODA council are present, Elder Zaya, Elder Benjamin, and Hunter Hemming and represented by Ralph Isla is Levy Isla and then we have Everest Gold. The members will be instrumental in voting in the new pack Alpha"

" What about your vote ?" One of the pack members asked.

’’ I will be the last to vote, " Alpha Luna said. " Hence the floor is yours, you can nominate a pack member or even step forward "

" What do the Golden Shifter pack rules state? Once Lobo was removed as pack alpha, who was the next in line to take over?" Lovita spoke up.

" Who is this?" One pack member demanded.

"The Aria family should not be allowed to be members of the pack " Another member stated firmly.

" The Arias have always been leaders of the Golden shifter pack. I see no reason why my son Lovita can’t be nominated. " Aurora Storm spoke and in that instance, we watched Amon and his goons walk over to stand by them.

" So that is why she came back," Conri chuckled.

" I nominate myself as the new pack Alpha" Lovita stepped up.

" I have a question for Lovita," Keith Isla spoke up.

He smuggled gold from Alaska to Japan. He teamed up with an evil Hybrid wolf and has been plotting against the golden shifter pack since then. Do I need to continue?"

" How is that related to Lovita? He is an Alpha and even possesses the power of the Storm family of magic witches. He would be the best fit to rule the Golden shifter pack" Aurora Storm raised her chin. " There is no one more powerful than Lovita "

" What about Conri Dolf? He is the strongest wolf in the pack " One of the pack members spoke up.

" How can a Rogue exiled wolf be a pack Alpha? " Aurora Storm muttered

" Nope. Lobo Aria was the one who killed Duciana Due, why would I be in exile? And I am not a rogue wolf." I chuckled.

" I have not heard him say that he wants to become pack Alpha ’’ Aurora’s eyes blazed.

I stepped forward and announced " I Conri Dolf, declared that I will be the next Golden shifter Pack Alpha"

" Now that is more like it " Godmother chuckled.

" Now we have two candidates" Alpha Luna clapped and then added " Is there anyone else who is willing to be the Golden shifter pack Alpha?"
