KEITH ISLA’S POV

The hunt had been gruesome as they fought the hybrid through the mountains and the forest of West Lake. He was a formidable opponent and he made us work hard. But Kato and Keito were real fighters, making it easy for us to subdue the hybrid. We burnt his body and threw it into the lake as we walked back to the villa.

" You did great, " Kato said. " Thank you for all your help. "

" I just knew the kind of person he was. When you spend too much time with evil people you learn how they think, which is what happened. I hope that from now on I can maintain a peaceful life." I spoke up.

I stood in the shower as the cold water hit my back, cleaning all the mud and blood from the fight scene. But what bothered me the most was the way Addison’s eyes blazed at me. How could the one person who made my wolf " Kisla" stir be the one who hated me the most? When I walked into the villa, I knew she was my mate. I must say life was both cruel and unfair. Just as I had decided to settle down and live my life alone, this happened. I wondered if she felt the same as her wolf pushing me back when Kisla tried to penetrate her mind.

I was awed at how Addison was strong but at the same time knew it was an uphill task on my part and I did not want to cause any more trouble. I knew that Lobo would never let Hunter off and even more sore now that Isamu wanted a Freki wolf, it was dangerous to be in Canada. It was less than twenty-four hours and Eliana was dead.

" You have been too hard on yourself since your Pa died’ Kisla pushed the words through our mind link. " But you do know that it was inevitable for you to meet your mate. "

" I never asked for anything. Just some time to mourn the death of Pa" I whispered loudly.

" Your mate is here " Kisla announced and the scent of Addison hit my nostrils. I got out of the shower and dressed up hurriedly without even drying my hair. I walked to the balcony where her scent led me and found her living on the corner sipping from a glass. I could smell the whiskey in it and it was dry without water. Could she be any more attractive?

" What brings you here " I stood by the balcony door staring at her.

She turned around and her eyes looked puffy like she had just been crying.

" Your hair is still wet," she pointed out.

" Stop deflecting " I snapped and walked to the other corner of the balcony and stood staring out at the lake.

" Why can’t I be here? ’’ She snapped and continued to sip her drink.

I gritted my teeth knowing well she was here to irritate me. " I don’t have time for your rebukes and insults, Addison. I had a hard battle and would like to rest"

" We need to talk, " She said.

" About what ?" I turned to face her defensively.

" You feel it too," Addison shrugged her shoulders and closed her eyes.

" I have no idea what you are talking about Addison " I stood my ground. I wanted her to come out and say it clearly.

" Fuck off Keith. You like pretending like nothing is happening. You know well we are mates. I felt it when you walked through the fucking door of the villa. I don’t like it. You have been doing evil things for so long that I am afraid to be with you" She yelled.

" Then go away and leave me alone " I snapped.

"My wolf Addy will not let me. She is determined to be with you " Addison burst into tears.

I stared at her as she hiccuped and looked away biting her lips to control herself. I walked back into the house, picked up a glass and the bottle of whiskey that was in the cabinet, and went back to the balcony. Addison was standing at the spot that I left her but her eyes were closed.

" Hold up your glass, " I said and her eyes snapped open. She stared at me for a minute but complied and raised the glass. I refilled it to the brim and said "Bottoms up". I refilled mine and chunked the whole drink down and my throat burnt from it.

I almost choked and Addison laughed and whispered " Can’t hold your liquor?" I watched her drink down to the last drop and then she held her glass for me to refill. I complied and then walked over to the seat by the corner and sat down placing the whiskey on the table between us.

" You are confident that your wolf wants us?" I asked.

Addison nodded and then sat by the seat next to her.

" Yet you pushed us out of your mind when we met, " I complained.

’" What is so good about being mated? Ma, Aspen, and I were locked up for a long time. We did not have any freedom but spent time looking over our shoulders. Lobo had men watching us and following us everywhere we went. One time we tried to escape and Aden got beaten up so badly and was in bed for months. We never told Hunter because we were afraid Lobo would kill him. "

" What the fuck ?" I cursed

"Every time I went to school, I was afraid of being raped " She snickered in pain.

" Shit " I rubbed my face with frustration knowing well that Lobo Aria was psycho.

" I have been living in fear for so long and now that I found my freedom you appear " She snapped.

" I am not forcing you to do anything. " I raised my hands. " I have my battles to fight and the healing process. I am not ready for anything."

I saw the flash of pain in her eyes before she looked away." Who wants anything from you? " She muttered.

" Take your time darling. I am not going anywhere " I responded to her and saw her shoulders sag down in relief.

" I just feel like the fact that we are mates, is adding lots of pressure on my end" She confessed.

" Why ?" I demanded.

" I have no idea why. I feel like I owe you something and yet I don’t. It’s a new feeling, "she whispered.

" My name is Keith Isla. I am twenty-eight years old. I am the last born. I have an older brother called Levy Isla. He is married to a man who works for Elder Zaya called Everest Gold. My father passed on. He was a member of the KODA council, the guardians of the Adora Crystal before Conri wielded it and it merged with his wolf. I have a house in Chugach, technically my father’s house. I have land and a bank account full of money. I served in the military and I only have a knack for business"

" Why are you telling me all this?" She whispered.

" I have never slept with anyone, man or woman. But I had a crush on Conri Dolf. " I confessed

She gritted her teeth and stood up to leave. " Whatever

" I am untouched as you are " I chuckled and she placed the glass on the table before rushing off and leaving the villa.

I chucked after she left and continued to drink into the night until I felt my body give in. I missed Pa so much and regretted all the mistakes that we made before. The promise I made to Conri came to mind and It made sense that he was trying to help me and keep me out of trouble. I closed the balcony doors and walked to the bedroom. Getting in bed, I closed my eyes and rested.

The chirping of the birds woke me up and picking up my phone from the side table to check the time, I sat up in shock. It was the next day at noon. I overslept. I got out of bed as my feet touched the floor, jolting me fully awake. After I showered, I walked to the living room and sat on the little table for breakfast. Elanor, the old lady appeared by the door and said " Addison asked me to bring breakfast"

" What ?" I stuttered in response.

" Enjoy it " She disappeared from the door and left me in a shocked state.

" What are all these?" I felt my wolf stir happily and it radiated all over my body as I sat down and enjoyed breakfast wondering what if Addison had a change of heart. I was so lost in deep thoughts that I never heard the door open

" I heard that you are my sister’s mate. She just announced it to everyone at the breakfast table" I heard Aspen growl at the door and standing next to her was Mrs. Hemming looking thunderous and annoyed.
