I stood up and faced Aspen and Mrs. Hemming not knowing what to say as they approached and sat down on the couch.

" Speak" Mrs Hemming commanded.

" I have nothing to say, ’’ I stated. " I am baffled and shocked at the same time.

" You are a coward, " Aspen growled.

" Watch your tone, Aspen. " I stood up defiantly. " I am not the one who informed you about Addison being my mate. What does that tell you? You came intending to scold me because you think I started this. I must be clear that I have never wanted a mate and this is new for me. I never made any moves on Addison and it was her that came to the Villa last night."

Mrs. Hemming’s eyes widened and then she turned to Aspen and said " Leave us alone". Aspen stood there adamantly but one hit from Mrs. Hemming and he rushed out of the little villa.

" I am sorry about this but Addison has a way of being defiant and the way she makes announcements leaves one reeling in shock"

I nodded at Mrs. Hemming and waited for her to proceed.

" This is awkward. " She laughed and made me feel comfortable around her.

" I have no idea what to tell you, " I confessed to Mrs. Hemming.

She looked at the breakfast placed and dished on the table and chucked " She ensured you had breakfast but spoke with annoyance about being your mate "

" I am just starting to learn that Addison can be mean when she is in denial" I laughed and this evoked a chuckle from Mrs. Hemming.

"Are you sure she is your mate ?" Mrs Hemming whispered.

" Yes. My wolf recognized her the minute I walked into the villa" I explained " But I never made it known or told anyone"

" She sensed it and started throwing a fit like a child " Mrs Hemming tsked.

" I know this is new for her. It is expected." I tried to defend her.

" Now you are defending her and then being noncommittal. What should we do about this? " She raised her hand in frustration.

" I have no idea " I rubbed my face and huffed.

" Okay. I will handle this for the two of you as long as you are sure she is your mate" She pointed at me.

"I am sure " I nodded and in that instance Elder Zaya walked in.

" Mate huh?" She teased me and made me blush.

" Good morning Zaya" I deflected.

" I watched Addison’s sad puppy eyes as when you arrived from the hunt covered in blood and mud. That is when I knew that there was more than meets the eyes of the two of you. ’’ She chuckled as she walked over and sat next to Mrs. Hemming.

" I know you are here to defend Keith but you can relax, I am not going to chew him " Mrs. Hemming retorted at Elder Zaya.

Elder Zaya seemed unfazed by the words and said " I worry you might throw him in the lake and we shall lose our best tracker and fighter"

" You are too much "Mrs. Hemming muttered under her breath.

" Keith is a good child. I know that he has been repenting and is still healing. If he wanted to cause trouble he would have announced that Addison was his mate. But he kept a low profile and it was your daughter that announced it" Elder Zaya pointed out.

" She has a temper, ’’ Mrs. Hemming defended Addison.

" Let the two kids decide for themselves. No one should interfere" Elder Zaya stated and I could tell it was a threat.

" Calm down woman. I only came to talk to him " Mrs. Hemming responded.

" The way you left the living room, I would have sworn that it was World War Three"

" Fine" Mrs. Hemming stood up. " You can defend him all you like. Is he your new adopted son? You are going on all about him like you own him"

" That is not a bad idea. I keep adopting a lot of good people lately. Lucian, Tizheruk, Haida, Kaito Kyeito, and now Keith. That is such a good number"

" Argh" Mrs. Hemming stomped out of the little villa and left.

" Why did you rile her up?" I asked Elder Zaya.

" Because I made a decision that I would protect you. Ralph failed to do it since your mother died young. " Elder Zaya smiled warmly.

Tears threatened to spill from my eyes as her words hit home" Will you have a habit of making me cry every time you see me ?"

" That is the only way to get through to your thick skull and protect you from harming yourself or others. I know that we owe Ralph this. I feel guilty that we never tried hard to save him. He went down the wrong path so fast and died. But the person he died for did not care" Elder Zaya said regretfully.

" Thank God that I was able to see the light. Being in the Yakuza Prison was the most traumatizing thing. The doctors treated me well but through it all, I had the fear that I was being poisoned. That in itself was a wake-up call"

" Why did Boris attack us ?" Edler Zaya asked.

" The money and gold that Conri and Lucian took. He wanted it so that he could run away from Alaska. But I also feel that Lyal threatened him somehow and he went berserk. He tied me to the basement of Pa’s house and left, looking crazy and distraught. He told me that he had always been loyal to Lobo Aria. I could not understand after going through everything and even Lobo killing his wife"

" Lobo is a selfish bastard. I am proud of you for pulling yourself out of that hole. Now for the matter at hand, you need to trade carefully. The Hemming have gone through so much in life, I fear that they will not have it easy being mated to Addison. Especially Hunter"

" I am not even ready to be mated, " I responded.

" Take your time. " she stood up.

" Thank you " I followed suit and walked her out of the little villa. Once I closed the door, I slid down to the floor and growled. Why did trouble always follow me?

I spent the whole day indoors without getting out of the villa and in the evening settled on the balcony. Surprisingly Elanor brought me lunch and dinner on time and I chuckled at how she blushed when she placed them on the table.

" Did she send you again ?" I asked.

" Yes, child. She sent it to me. " Elanor responded.

" I fear that I am in trouble. " I huffed.

" Even if she is angry, she will still take care of you. That is a good sign, " Elanor laughed.

"Hunter Hemming will not make it easy for me " I muttered.

"He will chew you alive " Elanor stated but her eyes twinkled with mischief making both of us burst out in laughter. " Enjoy your meal. " She said and left.

Staring into the clear night sky of Western Lake had me missing home. My wolf stirred and the scent of Addison hit my nose. I wondered why she was here again though happiness radiated in me.

" Why are you here? " I spoke up without turning around.

" Did Ma give you a hard time?" She walked into the balcony and sat down in the corner seat.

" You caused trouble, knowing well I would be scolded" I retorted and turned to look at her. Her hair was falling on her shoulders, her blue eyes were clear unlike yesterday when they were filled with pain and I could smell the shampoo on her body, an indication she had just had a shower. The dress she wore was so loose, it never did her justice to her beautiful body.

" It was the only way. I hate dancing around people and lies " She raised her chick defiantly.

" I thought I had a knack for trouble but you top it all. " I tsked.

" What did Ma say? " She asked again.

" Nothing. Elder Zaya was defensive enough for your mother to back off" I responded. " But your brother, that is another story. "

Addison shuddered and I watched her hands fisted on her sides. I had no idea why I felt the need to reassure her and spoke up " Don’t worry. I will handle Hunter"

She turned to stare at me and said " How?"

" Leave it to me and relax. Go back to the main house and rest. "

" Are you chasing me away? " She whispered. " I made sure you were fed today"

" I am not" I responded. " And thank you for that. Elanor kept teasing me every time she brought me food.

Addison smiled warmly and was silent for a while before she spoke up " Then what is it? I want to spend some time with you before I go to bed. " She explained. " My wolf keeps pushing me to come to you and I cannot fight her anymore.

" Do you not understand the situation ?" I raised one eyebrow at her.

" What do you mean by that ?" She stared at me innocently.

I stood up and looked down at her from a distance " That is not it Addison. Every time you come near me, I have the urge to kiss you, pin you down, and press my body on yours. So I would say it’s safer if you go back to the main mansion. "

Addison rushed out of the balcony with speed as I watched her hair fly behind as she disappeared into the main house.
