ELDER ZAYA’S POV

I made a call to Luican three days later after arriving in Canada since I knew that Conri was always tightlipped but Lucian would be frank and honest about everything.

" How did it go ?" I demanded.

" We are all back from Sitka. Alexander was a great help to us. He is the general second in command to Tizheruk. He is a serpent shifter, " Lucian responded.

" What? " I clapped my hands." That is good news"

" We succeeded in getting Zineb. Tizheruk secured the nest but in the process, Haida got poisoned my blood healed her and her new bodyguard Chary. She is a shifter snake. " I explained.

" What about Lobo and Isamu? " I demanded.

" They are back in Japan. Conri and I are planning on going to Tochigi. We better bring the fight to them than coming to Chugach. I fear the casualties would be great if they did so"

" That is a good plan. I will call my contacts in Tokyo so that you can sneak in and out without a third eye watching you. I will ask Kyeito to send help so that you can do what is necessary before Lobo masters the Tabular crystal. "

" You sound worried Godmother, " Lucian said.

" I have not been sleeping well. I fear something bad is about to happen. " I confessed.

" How is everyone there?" Lucian asked and I could tell Conri was standing next to him by the way he asked the question.

" I got the package you sent this morning. " I snickered. Keith Isla arrived in Canada early in the morning much to our surprise and Eliana growled at him at every turn.

’"I am glad that Keith arrived safely." Lucian chuckled.

" I know that you mean well but it was too dangerous to have him here. What if he was tailed?"

" You can relax. He was not. I can assure you, " Lucian emphasized.

" By the way, when is that godson of mine stop breathing down your neck and say a word " I demanded.

Lucian burst out laughing and then I heard Conri’s voice over the phone " Godmother, I have missed you "

" Cut the crap Conri, I knew you were planning something big and you never called me to inform me. Now that Lucian has briefed me, I will offer you all the help that I can. "

" Thank you, Godmother. I promise to return safe and sound, " Conri affirmed.

" I worry so much about you. I want to be alive to see my grandchildren" I teased him listened to his intake of breath and chuckled from Lucian.

" Come on, " He rasped.

" I can’t wait " I suppressed a laugh.

" Godmother, you will let me know once you contact your people in Tokyo. We shall leave Alaska in seven days." Lucian’s voice came through and I knew Conri had dashed off.

" Okay. And keep him in check. I know if anything happens to you, he will lose his cool"

"I promise, " Lucian said and we said our goodbyes and I disconnected the call.

" You need to stop poking your nose in their business " Mrs. Hemming chuckled.

" She is too much, " Eliana added.

" I need to see my grandchildren before I die " I retorted and we all ended up laughing.

"Ma, who is that man in Hunter’s house ?" Addison stomped in the living room where we were seated.

" That is Keith Isla. He is here because Conri sent him over. " I explained to Addison before Mrs. Hemming could speak.

" I have a bad feeling about him" Addison raised her chin defiantly.

" Calm down sister Aspen appeared " Kaito and Kyeito vetted him.

" Luke said that he is a bad man, " Addison continued. She was truly on a roll about Keith.

"Luke is wise, " Eliana muttered under her breath.

" Shush" I scolded Eliana and she winked at me.

"You are all hiding something " Addison’s hushed tone still reached our ears.

" Keith is an orphan. He has gone through a tough ordeal. His father died, and he was shot and kidnapped. Let him be. He is here to heal and lay low" I explained.

Addison huffed and dumped herself on the couch.

" I am going to the market today. Luke wants to come along to the shopping mall" Eliana announced.

" Take me with you, " Addison said.

" Kaito will accompany you, " I pointed out.

" That is fine. The rest of the security team will also follow us. " Eliana stood up.

" Be careful. " Mrs, Hemming said.

" We will," Eliana piped as she walked out of the villa with Luke, Addison, and Kaito.

" I am going to prepare the food " Mrs. Hemming stood up. "I better keep my hands busy, since Elanor came I have been lazing around."

" I will join you, my body is aching from sitting down and doing nothing "I chuckled as I followed Mrs. Hemming to the kitchen.

Two hours later, I walked to the little side villa that Keith was in. He was seated on the balcony enjoying the ocean view. When he spotted me standing by the balcony doors, he stood up hurriedly and we stared at each other.

" Why did Conri send you over? " I demanded as I walked to the opposite chair from his and sat down.

’" There was an incident at the construction site. An old girlfriend of Lyal called Maria poisoned the paint spray and it affected the workers including Everest. Lucian’s blood was used as an antidote and it healed them. I suspect that Conri feels that Lobo’s hand is still active in Chugach. " Keith let on.

"I knew that Lucian omitted some information. Boris did a number on you " I pointed out.

" Being in prison and kidnapped made me see the light. Plus Levy has always been kind and supportive. He is the only family left. Hence I can’t keep disappointing him.

" What about the Napella drug?" I demanded.

He sighed before answering " Lobo Aria has always been the one behind it. I am just a pawn"

" You allowed him to use you " I snapped at him.

" I regret everything. I have seen the error of my ways, ’’ Keith nodded. " I am here to repent and lay low. Conri instructed me to do so. After all this is over, I shall go back and work at Council offices and be loyal to him as an Alpha"

" Your father’s death must have hit you hard " My eyes bore to him. " Are you going to take revenge on Hunter? Ralph Isla was a twisted man. He stalked Luna Elijah and kidnapped Tala. And now you are in the house of the man who killed your father"

Keith’s intake of breath was enough for me to know that he was still angry about Ralph’s death.

" How should one react to such information? " Keith closed his eyes and whispered.

" Heal your soul, find the good in people, and learn to forgive. Conri has given you a second chance. You do know that Ducian and Lyal kidnapped Lucian. Yet he never touched them but he put his concern on the wellbeing of Lucian. You can’t always get back at people but offer comfort to your loved ones. "

" I don’t know how ’’ tears rolled down Keith’s cheeks.

" You will. You have taken the first step. I am glad you are here and speaking about it" I stood up and walked over to him.

His eyes snapped open and the tears kept flowing. I embraced him and then the sobs wracked his body as he let out all the hurt and pain he was feeling. I rubbed his back and comforted him knowing well that he was both in pain and feeling the guilt of his evil ways.

By the time I left the little villa, Keith was feeling better and he even smiled at me.

" Thank you Elder Zaya" Keith bowed in respect.

" Be good and keep your promise" I patted his shoulder.

" There is something I wanted to share. I brushed it off but when I left the airport, I had this feeling that someone was following me. I asked the driver to divert the route and not come to the villa directly. I can swear that Lobo’s men are in Canada. It’s just that they have not established where the Villa is"

"Oh shit! Come with me " I commanded him.

We hurriedly walked to the main villa and found Kyeito pacing up and down the window. Mrs. Hemming and Aspen were all in a worried state and I knew that Kieth’s concerns were valid.

" Something is wrong " Keith was the first to speak.

" It’s been three hours, they should have been back. I can’t reach Kato on the phone" Kyeito growled and then said, "I better go and check."

" Stay put. " I commanded him. " You need to stay on guard as agreed"

In a matter of minutes, we heard the screeching of cars and then the gates opened as two of the cars that Kaito and Eliana took arrived at the compound.

Luke was the first to rush out of the car in tears and when he got to the house he screamed out loud " Grandmother Zaya, they killed Grandmother Eliana"
