ZINEB ARIA’S POV

I was tired of pacing up and down the house, as I waited for Lobo to return. The sun had set and the night air had kicked in, and this worried me. Both Lobo and Jaxton were nowhere to be seen. I called my mole in the Golden Shifter pack office and she did not pick up my calls. Twenty minutes later, she called back and on answering the call, she whispered, "Zineb, do you know how much trouble your brother caused? Boris’s wife is in hospital after he released the Mangy wolves on her. Unfortunately, some witnesses saw him do it"

"What?" I yelled.

"That is not all. The enforcers are out hunting for him. Lucian and Conri were there when he held Gonzalo Carter hostage," she whispered.

"Any more details? " I demanded.

"None as yet. But It seems that Luna and Benjamin are up to something as they called a group of enforcers and sent them out"

" Okay. Thank you for the heads-up. I will call later" I disconnected the call.

I rushed to Lobo’s office, took out the bag with the Tabular crystal, and then rushed to my room and hid it under the bed, in the safe that was on the floor. No one knew that I had installed the safe when I first came to Lobo’s home, and knowing how Lobo’s mind worked, I could not trust anyone.

I left my room and walked to the living room and, much to my surprise, Isamu was seated on the chair, his red eyes glowing, and I staggered back in shock.

"Calm down. I have no interest in attacking you," He smirked.

The scent of dried blood hit my nostrils, and I knew he was hurt.

"Do you need bandages or a shower?" I whispered.

"A shower would do and a change of clothes. I bet your brother’s clothes will fit me. " He stood up and winced in pain.

"Come on," I whispered as I ushered him into the guest room.

"I am faster than you. Hence, you better not do anything silly," Isamu warned.

"I don’t have a desire to die. "I responded and heard him chuckling as I closed the door. I walked back to Lobo’s room and picked a set of clothes and then hurried back to the guest room. I placed the clothes on the bed and chose to hide in the kitchen and prepare a meal. A welcomed distraction from the fact I had a Hybrid in Lobo’s house and Lobo was missing. I opted to cook the chicken that was in the fridge while peeling the potatoes so that I could deep fry them.

My phone buzzed, and it was a call from Jackson. I dreaded talking to him after learning what Lobo did to his mother, but since I wanted information that could be vital in protecting Lobo; I feigned innocence when I picked up the call.

"Jaxton, where did you go? Did you find anything from Luna’s home?"

"Zineb, your brother is crazy. If I ever thought there could be anything between us ever, forget it. If Ma dies, I will not forgive you, " He growled.

"What? What the hell happened?" I pretended to be shocked.

"Where are you?" He asked.

"I am home waiting for you and Lobo, as agreed," I responded.

"You have not left the house?" He sounded curious.

"No. So tell me what the fuck happened ?"

"Lobo attacked Ma and released the mangy wolves on her," Jaxton growled.

"Why the hell would he do that?" I demanded.

"I have no idea about Zineb. All I know is Ma is lying in hospital fighting for her life, " Jaxton responded sadly.

I closed my eyes in frustration and then responded, " Would you know where Lobo is? I need to ask him what happened "

"No. He disappeared after that. The enforcers say that Conri killed one of the mangy wolves "

"Killed? How?" I asked.

"He bit his head off," Jaxton responded without a thought.

"No way "I gasped

"The person who saw it said that Conri’s wolf did it. It’s large and fierce. " Jaxton urged.

"Okay. I will find out what happened, but I doubt Lobo would release the many wolves on your Ma. Something does not add up," I said defensively.

"Fine, "Jaxton uttered and disconnected the call.

Placing the phone back on the counter, I closed my eyes and whispered, " Lobo Aria, did you go mental?"

"He must have, "I heard Isamu’s words from behind me. " He exposed himself and was reckless.

Ignoring him, I continued to stir the meat in the pan as I checked if the potatoes had already cooked and then walked to the cabinets to remove the plates. I heard the kitchen chair being pulled and guessed that Isamu had sat down.

Twenty minutes later, we sat at the small kitchen table, eating in silence as I felt my heart race from being near Isamu.

"You do know that I can sense your anxiety and you are racing," Isamu pointed out.

"Do you expect me to be comfortable around the man who just shot my friend and threatened me?" I whispered.

"Don’t pretend to be innocent. When I gave you the Tabular crystal, you never complained when you traded Luke for me," Isamu snickered.

"I had no idea why I did that. I regret it, " I muttered.

"But I recently found out that there is a full-blooded Freki wolf. And I heard that it’s white. " Isamu smiled as he chewed his meat.

"Yes," I nodded, "But his mate will never let you near him"

" He is mated?" Isamu growled.

"Yes. "I nodded.

"What is his name?" He leaned back and asked.

At first I was skeptical, but then I remembered that Isamu had so many connections. He would find out about Lucian if he needed to. " His name is Lucian Freki"

"What the fuck did you say?" Isamu pushed the chair back and the sound that came out of his mouth was a loud growl.

"You heard me, "I pointed out.

"The man who sent the hybrid wolves to kill me ?" Isamu raised one eyebrow.

"Did you say hybrid wolves? Those fuckers were meant to Kill Lucian, but they assassinated Fridolf Due. And then disappeared, " I supplied.

"They came after me. It seems they betrayed Lobo Aria, and took out Fridolf because they are friends of Lucian Freki"

"How do you know?" I squinted at Isamu.

"Because before I attacked them, I had to find out who had sent them to take me out. And the name was "Lucian Freki". He sent them to kill me but I am not an easy target"

"You are completely healed, " I pointed out as I continued to eat my dinner.

"Yes. "Isamu sat down and resumed eating dinner.

"How is it that you can eat food like a normal wolf? Aren’t the myths true?"

"I can eat it, but it’s tasteless. I did not want to offend you, and you spent time cooking for me. I was born a vampire and the wolf genes in me are secondary," Isamu supplied.

"Wow," I gasped as my eyes widened at him.

" Any other questions?" Isamu laughed.

"Why do you want Lucian? I mean, he is already mated, " I asked without a thought.

"Freki blood is immortal" He answered.

"I know. It saved my nephew’s life. When he was born, he almost died and Lucian’s Pa saved him," I supplied.

"Exactly. If it is mixed with vampire blood, it will achieve full immortality. And if I mate with a Freki, my children will be immortal since Freki wolves have Omega genes. " Isamu narrated.

"I don’t see how you will succeed. "I responded, " Conri Dolf is a powerful wolf. He is the carrier of the Adora crystal"

"Say what?" Isamu growled. " It’s impossible. The Adora Crystal disappeared with the sea serpent god after I killed him.

"You are wrong. The Adora crystal was found by Lucian’s Pa, Fridolf Freki. He took the Crystal from Mount Chugach and brought it down. The Adora Crystal chose four guardians for the past fifteen years, but last month, all the power went into Conri Dolf. He must be a superior wolf and some say that his wolf is larger than normal wolves. "

"You don’t say "Isamu’s eyes sparkled and evoked laughter from me.

"You are too much," I responded as I stood up and cleared the table.

"Do you have wine? " Isamu asked.

"Yes. It’s in the cellar downstairs. "I pointed at the cellar door that was near the corridor.

"You don’t expect me to get it?" Isamu raised an eyebrow.

"You have trust issues. "I shook my head as I went down the cellar, got the basket that was placed on the counter, and picked four bottles of wine and when I came back up, Isamu had left the kitchen but I heard him pacing by the living room.

I smiled to myself as I walked to the living room and placed the basket on the table. " The glass is in the cabinet by the window and I bet you can get them yourself," I said as I walked back to the kitchen in laughter to clean the dishes and the kitchen.

By the time I was done, I found Isamu on the third bottle of wine. He had not bothered to get the glasses. He drank directly from the bottle and I could not understand why Zaria, my wolf, stirred at the sight.

He must have sensed that I was staring at him because he snickered and taunted me. " Oh, Zineb, you don’t want to be entangled with a hybrid like me. I have seen women like you who are interested in me. But I am greedy. I crave power and immortality. And I don’t even mind sleeping with a wolf that already has a mate"

"The last part will be impossible. Freki Wolf will never allow you to sleep with him," I snickered and walked out of the living room in fits of anger. I got to my room, banged on the door and before I got on the bed, Isamu had already moved with speed and was in my room.

"What was that?" He demanded.

"I am tired. I want to rest. "I dismissed him.

"You are a smart woman. Sleeping above the Tabular crystal is a wise idea. Don’t let anyone close to it, "He stated and in a flash, he was gone. I got in bed cursing as to how mental Isamu was.
