The chirping of the birds woke me up and when I looked outside the window, the sun’s rays streamed into the room. I rolled on the bed and huffed in annoyance. I knew that Haida was affecting me, but the mere presence of her around me. I dragged myself out of bed and my eye caught the clothes placed on the bedside chair. I stared at them and snickered, knowing well that Mrs. Hemming was playing matchmaker.

An hour later, I was showered, dressed, and ready to leave the Villa. I walked out of the room to the smell of food and I followed the scent since my stomach growled. The table was filled with meat and chicken, potatoes, and salads. Mrs Hemming must have heard me approaching as she turned around and said, "Good Morning. Haida made brunch for us. We all overslept. "

"We?" I raised an eyebrow and in seconds Aspen appeared from upstairs, rushed over to the table, served his plate, and gobbled down the meat.

"Manners. You have no manners. " Addison followed as she slowly slid on the chair and then waited for Mrs Hemming to sit down.

"Have a seat. " Mrs Hemming pointed at the empty chairs opposite Addison and Aspen.

I walked to the chair next to her, and she beamed at me.

"I know what you are trying to do" I pushed the words to her mind link.

She seemed startled at first and then burst out laughing, shocking both Addison and Aspen. Haida walked into the room carrying a jug of juice, placed it on the table, and sat on the chair beside me.

Mrs. Hemming picked a plate, served the food, and placed it in front of me. "Thank you for saving us. "She winked at me.

I huffed and dug into the food, ignoring the stares that came from Aspen and Addison. Mrs Hemming grinned and chuckled as she ate and finally, Aspen threw the fork on the plate and said "Ma, are you flirting with him"

His question made Haida choke while Mrs. Hemming burst into fits of laughter.

"You are so slow and hopeless. "Addison smacked the back of Aspen’s head.

"Come on. Can you see the way he was looking at Ma" Aspen complained.

"I am not flirting with your Ma," I spoke directly to Aspen.

"Ma seems to be happier since you came along. How should I interpret that ?" Aspen demanded.

"Your mother is naughty and cheeky "I muttered under my breath and Mrs Hemming patted my hand and said "Ignore them.

"I would rather ignore you" I sent the words to her mind link and she stood up and pulled me into a hug.

"What are you doing, Ma?" Addison yelled.

"I am thanking him for making me happy, "Mrs. Hemming went back to her seat.

"I wonder if you met Elder Zaya, how much trouble would the two of you cause? " I snickered and a small smile played on my lips.

"Who is she?" Mrs. Hemming asked.

"She is the godmother of Conri Dolf. Conri was an exiled rogue Alpha before Lucian Freki rescued him from the mountains where we cohabited. "I explained.

"Did you say Freki?" Mrs. Hemming’s eyes widened. "There is a Freki wolf in Chugach?

"Yes. Why ?"

"Dolf and Freki," Mrs. Hemming eyes bore at me. "My grandmother once told me the myth. So you are connected to Dolf, right?"

My jaw dropped, and no words came out of my mouth.

"I know the tale. Only people who grew up deep in Sitka know it. "Mrs. Hemming said." Your secret is safe with me. I can’t believe that I am seated with an immortal"

"What?" Both Aspen, Haida, and Addison whispered.

Mrs Heming and I remained silent for the rest of the meal, but Haida kept giving me side glances as she ate her food. Once I was full, I stood up and announced, " I am leaving"

"You need to go back. I understand "Mrs. Hemming said.

"Yes. I need to report back to Hunter before he goes crazy, "I laughed.

"Is Hunter’s mate beautiful?" Aspen asked.

"Yes. She is an enforcer by nature and her mother is an Alpha She-wolf. Her brother is the deputy president of the multi-dollar company Due Corporation and is mated to Lucian’s sister Anisha Nora," I informed them.

"Wow," Aspen responded.

"Hunter lives with an old wolf called Elanor. He rescued her in the mountains and she takes care of him and his home," I added.

"What about you? Where do you live? " Haida asked.

"I live with Lucian and Conri at the Freki mansion. Elder Zaya also lives there. " I responded and then took a step back, pushed the chair back on the table, and attempted to walk out of the room.

"You don’t have a home?" Haida pressed on.

Her words irritated me and I turned to her and said, "Why the fuck do you care? The Freki mansion is my home"

"Pfft," she huffed and looked away.

"I don’t have time for your nonsense, " I seethed and then turned to Mrs. Hemming. You looked bemused. " Allow me to leave. I will be in contact once I get to Chugach." I removed the paper that I had scribbled in my number and placed it next to her, together with a bank card.

"What is this? "She demanded as she stared at the bank card.

"Money Ma’am" I drawled. "Use it to buy clothes and whatever necessities you need. "

"I don’t want your money, "Mrs. Hemming stated.

"It’s not mine. Hunter gave me this before I left, "I explained.

Her eyes teared up, and then I leaned down and pressed a kiss on her cheek. " The team outside will take care of you all. Reach out to me and I will get to you as soon as I can. "

And with that, I left the villa and rushed out to the car waiting to take me to the airport. I welcomed the silence as we drove to the airport. I took a commercial flight back and picked up a taxi to the Freki mansion on arrival from the airport.

Conri must have sensed my arrival as he walked out of the mansion even before we got to the entrance of the gates. He was pacing up and down and when he spotted me in the Taxi, his shoulder sagged with relief.

I got out of the car after making payments and then the car left the Freki Mansion just as the sun set and darkness slowly crept in. The night lights illuminated Conri’s face as he stood staring at me, and then I felt Dolf stir in my mind. He was probing, and then I saw the shocked look on Conri’s face before he burst into fits of laughter. He must have sensed how happy my beast was to meet our mate. I huffed left him in the parking lot, and walked into the house.

Upon entry, Elder Zaya stood up from the couch while Tala remained stoic. Lucian stood by the window, staring out at Conri.

"Did you miss me?" I teased Elder Zaya.

"Bering, just spit it out before Tala has an aneurysm," Elder Zaya commanded.

"They are all safe," I announced proudly, and then Conri smacked the back of my head while Lucian chuckled and Tala beamed happily.

"Why did you not call on time? Do you know how much Godmother was worried? "Conri growled at me.

"Calm down. Have I ever failed you?" I complained.

"Why did you laugh? " Lucian demanded.

"Dont even think about it. " I pushed the words through to Conri’s mind link and then realized that Lucian heard the words.

"He will eventually tell me, so you better just spit it out," Lucian responded through the mind link.

"Later, "I huffed and then turned to Tala. " Do you need me to take you to Hunter?"

She nodded and then rushed towards me and hugged me.

"Thank you so much, " She whispered.

"Welcome. Let me take a shower and then we can leave, "I stated and walked to the bunker. I took a shower and dressed when Conri entered the bunker, making me groan at how excited he looked.

"Can you just contain yourself? " I snapped at him and I attempted to sidestep and leave the bunker.

"No. "He shook his head and folded his arms in front of me.

"I could always petrify you and get away with it, "I threatened him, but he shrugged his shoulders without care.

"You found your mate, "He stated.

"Yes. And she is a Sea wolf, "I whispered. "Annoying and arrogant"

"What? Sea wolf as in Wasgo?" Conri whispered in shock.

"The same," I seethed.

"No wonder you are pissed. You will not be able to be arrogant and your usually cheeky self, "Conri laughed.

" That is the least of my worries. She is an adopted child of the Hemmings. And I fear that I will murder if Lobo Aria tries to get to them," I stated.

"Fuck" was the only word that came out of Conri’s mouth.
