HUNTER’S POV

I tossed and turned in bed as sleep eluded me. How could I sleep not knowing the fate of my family? I knew that Tizheruk was thorough and precise, and he would deliver but still, I felt the anxiety of Hemming and the worry of my family.

I got out of bed and padded outside the house barefoot. I walked to the cage and petted the wolves and breathed the night air. I scented Lobo Aria wolf even before I saw him. He arrived at my home in wolf form and I stood by the entrance as I stared at him in shock.

Aria growled at me and I felt Hemming’s anger rise at the fact that Aria had growled. Lobo shifted and stood naked by my gate, looking angry.

"Alpha" I raised my eyebrows in question.

Lobo walked over to me and slapped me so hard that the force made me stagger. I heard my wolves growl and Lobo’s growl made them whine and lower their heads.

"What is going on, Alpha?" I asked him as I tasted the blood from my lips.

"How dare you betray me?" Lobo growled.

"I have no idea what you are talking about. " I blankly stared at him.

"Are you pretending?" Lobo yelled and at that Instant Elanor appeared from the door, her back facing us and she extended her hand that had a pair of pants.

"Thank you. Get back in the house, "I instructed her.

She closed the door, and I handed Lobo the pants. He snickered and wore the pants as he huffed and puffed.

"Alpha, can you calm down and tell me what is it that you think I have done? "I calmly spoke.

"Where the fuck is your family?" Lobo demanded.

"What the hell do you mean?" I stepped forward and feigned surprise.

"Come on "Lobo Aria snickered and pointed a finger at me" Dont pretend"

"Alpha, I have not spoken to my family in ten years. You know that well. So please tell me what happened to my family, "I whispered in fear.

His eyes widened as they bore at me and then I heard Hemming whisper in our mind link, "You better act well if you want him to believe you "

Lobo’s eyes widened and then he demanded "Hunter, do you think I am a fool"

"Alpha, where is my family" I stepped forward and my hands fisted at my sides.

He took a step back and then cursed out loud, "Fuck"

"Alpha" I took another step towards him as I feigned shock.

"Your family is missing," Lobo Aria announced.

"What do you mean, Alpha? Arent you taking care of them? "I croaked. "You said you had someone watching over them. "

"I thought you went after them, "Lobo stated, but I could hear the doubt in his voice.

"Why would I do that? I am serving you so that my family can be safe. Who took them? What do you mean, missing?" I stepped closer to Lobo and knew he was starting to get scared.

"The men who were monitoring your family are also missing. No trace of them. "Lobo responded.

"I have to go to Sitka" I turned around and heaved.

"That is better acting. Keep it up, "Hemming drawled.

"No. I have already dispatched enforcers who were near Sitka to have a look and give us feedback. "Lobo announced.

"It’s not enough! "I yelled and then moved to hit the cage that had the wolves as they whined in fear. "I live for my family. That is the most important thing in my life. "

"Calm yourself down, "Lobo instructed

Turned to him and said, "How?" How?" I was being dramatic, and I knew it.

He stared at me blankly, and I knew he never expected tables to turn when he shifted and rushed over to my home.

"I am leaving, " He muttered awkwardly.

"Let me come with you, " I pleaded.

"Stay put and don’t leave your home. I will send enforcers with word if I hear of anything. But If in the morning there is no word, then let us travel to Sikta together. "Lobo stated and then walked away.

I turned and went into the house as the bouts of laughter threatened to escape from my mouth. I closed the door and Elanor stood there with a smirk on her face.

"You did well," she whispered, and I knew she was afraid Lobo would come back and listen in.

I nodded and then walked to my room, got on the bed, covered myself with the duvet, and burst out laughing.

"You need an award. " Hemming pushed the words through.

"I almost slipped," I responded and hiccuped with the force of laughter.

"I have a feeling he will be back or have enforcers surrounding your home," Hemming stated.

"I know. It’s better to stay put" I nodded and uncovered myself. To my surprise, Tala stood by the bed with a smirk.

"How the fuck did you get in? Do you know Lobo was here?" I whispered.

"I watched all the performances. " She raised her thumbs.

I pulled her onto the bed and covered her mouth before she could yell.

"Shh," I said.

She nodded as we cuddled together and then I asked, "How did you get here? How come Lobo never scented you ?"

"Tizheruk covered my track and scent," Tala whispered back. "Your family is safe"

The tears I had been holding back came as Tala held me and my body was raked in sobs. The fact that Tizheruk had succeeded made me so happy, yet scared. I knew that Lobo Aria would attack sooner rather than later. He went ballistic, and I knew this was just the first sign.

"It’s over. Is finally over, " Tala whispered as she rubbed my back.

"It has just begun" I hiccuped. "Lobo Aria will never let me be"

"We shall cross the bridge when we get there. Just know that Tizheruk has them protected and your ma sends her greetings."

"I know that it is dangerous to meet them now, but I want to see my family. It has been so many years, "I responded.

"And Your Ma opted someone, "Tala whispered.

"What" I raised my head and looked into her eyes.

’ "Tizheruk will explain but you have a step-sister called Haida," Tala whispered.

"Okay," I nodded.

"I hate to interrupt this conversation, but Lobo Aria is headed back to your house. He will be here in a matter of minutes. We need to go," Tizheruk announced.

We both jumped out of bed and then I said "It’s better if I go outside to meet him"

"No. We are leaving." Tizheruk grabbed Tala’s hand and rushed out of the house.

"Fucking Lobo Aria," I muttered through gritted teeth, and then I grabbed the beddings and changed them in seconds. I then shed my clothes, walked to the shower switched on the water, and stood in waiting while I let the tears run. I listened to the doors open and then Lobo’s footsteps until I reached the room. I turned around round and came face to face with Lobo Aria.

"Alpha? What is it? " I sad and hiccuped.

He took a step back and then turned around and walked out of the bathroom. I quickly switched off the shower and then grabbed a towel. After I dressed, I rushed to the living room and found Lobo pacing up and down.

"Alpha, do you have news?’ I asked.

"The enforcers reported that they had different voices speaking in the house, " Lobo reported.

"Different voices? " My eyes were filled with fury. "What does that mean, Alpha ?"

"I came to check on you, "He lied and looked away.

I sat down on the couch and felt Hemmings’ fury rise. "Do you think that I would go to Sikta and bring my family here? What capacity do I have to do that? I left my family in your care." I was playing the guilt card.

"Someone is messing with my head," Lobo snickered. " I hope you did not have a hand in this Hunter"

"Lobo Aria, I have been loyal to you for a long time. Yet you keep doubting me and now my family is missing. Do you think that you are being too hurtful?"

Lobo Aria stared at me as his eyes widened, and then he stood up to leave.

"I am doing the best I can. I just don’t get how they could vanish into thin air, " He said as his tone was laced with accusation.

"I will be in the pack offices in an hour" I stood up and left him in the living room.

I heard him curse, and in seconds, the door closed. I walked to the window, opened my Alpha senses, and then counted over ten enforcers lurking in the forest. Tala and Tizheruk were nowhere to be found, and I sensed Lobo leaving the forest.

"Lobo Aria, you have no idea what is coming," I whispered as Hemming growled and I felt my body alive for the first time.
