Chapter 91: Chapter 91: The Jiang Family of Four
"This is..." Jiao Xinlei looked at the palm print and felt a chill in her heart.
"What do you think caused her to suddenly fall over before?" Wen Wen put away his dagger, the palm print on her leg confirming the suspicions in his mind.
Jiao Xinlei asked doubtfully, "You mean someone grabbed her and pulled her down? But I didn’t see anything just now."
Jiang Wenyue bent her leg and buried her head in her thigh, shivering slightly. After what Wen Wen had said, she was beginning to understand what had happened.
"Let’s go to your house together, I’m even more curious about this matter now."
Wen Wen’s mouth curved into a smile. There was something wrong with Jiang Wenyue’s house, but it definitely wasn’t just that one dog.
"Should we go back? I don’t want to..." Jiang Wenyue shook her head. To her, that house was too terrifying.
"You can stay outside. These kinds of things will happen sooner or later; it’s better if you bring me back home, and I’ll solve the source of the problem. The choice is yours," Wen Wen stood up and said to Jiang Wenyue.
After thinking for a moment, Jiang Wenyue agreed to Wen Wen’s request. Although her house was scary, she had never faced any life-threatening danger there.
Afterward, Jiang Wenyue got in the car, and the three of them headed to her home. Along the way, Wen Wen gathered a rough understanding of the family.
Her family consisted of four people: her father Jiang Yusheng, her mother Sun Ya, her brother and Jiao Xinlei’s male best friend Jiang Wenhu, and the youngest sister, Jiang Wenyue.
There were dozens of dogs kept in the villa’s yard, and a family of four lived inside, along with a human-faced Husky.
That dog didn’t have any peculiarities at first; it was simply very understanding of humans for a Husky.
But after moving to this villa, the dog started to behave more and more strangely, becoming more and more human-like.
And then, strange things began occurring in the house.
The same story, when told by a third party, felt completely different from when the people involved told it.
Listening to Jiang Wenyue’s description, Jiao Xinlei inexplicably felt a chill, and goosebumps covered her body.
Before, she thought the family might just have psychological issues, but after seeing that palm print, she realized it wasn’t that simple.
She felt apprehensive about going to the Jiang family’s house.
"You said those strange occurrences only happen at night, but that dog is weird all day long, and you have never been attacked while at home," Wen Wen reflected.
"Yet the moment you step out of the house, even now, during the daytime, you’ve been attacked."
Wen Wen mused, his own theories about the Jiang family’s situation forming in his mind.
Perhaps what endangered the Jiang family wasn’t the dog; however, he would only be able to clarify everything after personally visiting the Jiang house.
When Jiang Wenyue led Wen Wen into the villa, the dogs in the yard began to bark madly, causing Jiao Xinlei to cover her ears.
"I’ve been to your house before; it wasn’t like this," the state of the dogs cast a shadow over her heart.
"I’m sorry, after the abnormalities began, my family’s dogs became like this. Half of them are weak and ill, the other half... overexcited, to the point where even I can’t recognize them," Jiang Wenyue explained sadly.
Her family ran a kennel, and she had always loved these dogs, but since the onset of the strange events, several of the previously healthy dogs had already died.
The remaining dogs, like they’d gone mad, hadn’t been sold for a long time.
"Dogs are sentient creatures, they can see things that humans can’t, and are easily influenced by those things. Your family really is interesting," said Wen Wen with a smile to the two of them.
Jiao Xinlei nodded. According to Wen Wen’s words, did that mean there truly was something eerie existing in the Jiang Family’s home?
"However... the constant barking of these dogs is quite bothersome!"
Wen Wen dug at his ear, closed his eyes, and took a deep breath. Then he abruptly opened his eyes, the aura emanating from him spreading outward.
All the barking dogs in the vicinity immediately fell silent, and those that had been baying wildly now behaved themselves, lying on the ground, tails drooping, letting out low whimpers.
All the dogs had been frightened by Wen Wen’s aura and didn’t dare to bark wildly again!
Jiang Wenyue didn’t feel anything and only saw that the family’s dogs had suddenly quieted down, but Jiao Xinlei, standing next to Wen Wen, had felt it; her heart seemed to spasmodically contract.
The aura around Wen Wen suddenly became terrifying, like a ghastly ghost wrapped in the resentments of countless people!
It was far more frightening than when Wen Wen had intentionally scared her during their first meeting.
Every superpower user has their own unique aura. When this essence becomes strong enough and spreads, it turns into an extraordinary force unlike any ordinary person’s.
The aura of a superpower user can intimidate opponents, and the presence of top contenders might even lead to various extraordinary phenomena.
Like the eye that came from the Inner World before, which with mere presence caused the ordinary people within Paradise to undergo strange mutations.
And the aura exuding from Wen Wen was just as gloomy and terrifying, very much like a villain.
As for this, Wen Wen had no choice...
He also wished his aura could be that of dominant royalty, or of Holy tranquility that comforted others, or perhaps that of Sharpness or scorching heat...
Those, just thinking about them, seemed overwhelmingly cool. But when Wen Wen’s aura spread, it only made people think of horrific, monstrous creatures.
In short, even when Wen Wen was doing a good thing, he still seemed like the bad guy...
"Mm... It’s much quieter now; let’s go in," Wen Wen said, satisfied as he looked at the dogs and walked into the villa with Jiang Wenyue.
The parents and brother of Jiang Wenyue were all sitting in the living room. Their expressions were extremely worn, but each was slightly different.
Father Jiang had an empty look in his eyes, his expression blank with a hint of self-reproach in the depth of his gaze. He now wished to think of nothing at all.
Mother Jiang curled up next to Father Jiang, her body trembling slightly. The look she gave Wen Wen and the others as they entered was somewhat neurotic. Enduring over a month of torment and not going mad was already quite formidable.
And Jiang Wenhu was looking at the ceiling, appearing as if he had nothing left to live for. His family, his career, had already fallen apart.
Seeing Jiao Xinlei and Wen Wen following behind Jiang Wenyue, all three of them looked over together, causing Jiao Xinlei to feel uneasy, for there was little hope in their eyes.
"Hello, uncle and auntie, I’m Wen Hu’s friend. I’ve been here before. I heard something happened at your home," Jiao Xinlei greeted the three.
"There’s no issue, what could have happened?" As the head of the family, Jiang Yusheng sighed and stood up to greet the two. In just one month, half of his hair had turned white.
Jiao Xinlei pointed to Wen Wen and introduced, "This friend of mine is a detective, specializing in handling strange cases..."
"We appreciate the kind gesture, but ask your friend to leave," said a haggard Jiang Yusheng. He didn’t believe that Wen Wen could really solve the problem.
