Chapter 92 Human-Headed Dog
Chapter 92: Chapter 92 Human-Headed Dog
They had sought psychologists, fortune-tellers on the streets, ghostbusters, paranormal affairs offices, and so on—every avenue had been exhausted.
These people either couldn’t pinpoint the problem, or they would turn around and leave as soon as they entered. Some who had planned to stay and see were so frightened that they wet their pants.
The masters, whether famous or hidden in plain sight, flying banners of all sorts had all been consulted.
Now, he no longer held any expectations.
What good could another so-called master brought by Jiao Xinlei do today, or a detective skilled at catching criminals?
Jiang Yusheng knew that the problem in their house was definitely not human!
At least, it wasn’t a living human...
So bringing in a detective to handle this would only lead to unexpected trouble.
"Don’t be in a hurry to refuse now; you must have guest rooms here. We’ll be staying over tonight, and whether it works or not, we’ll see tomorrow morning."
"But..."
Jiang Yusheng still wanted to refuse, but Wen Wen had already walked past him into the center of the living room, squatting in front of a Husky.
His main goal here was to capture something that intrigued him, not to solve Jiang Yusheng’s problems, so the attitude of the Jiang family members couldn’t dictate Wen Wen’s decision to stay or leave.
"So this is the legendary weird dog, huh? It really does look strange enough. Can you speak human language?"
The dog rolled its eyes, twitched its mouth, and looked at Wen Wen as if viewing an idiot. It was a dog; how could it possibly talk?
Following closely behind Wen Wen, Jiao Xinlei covered her mouth, almost screaming aloud. Now, this dog looked completely different from the photos taken a few days ago!
No, perhaps it couldn’t be considered a dog anymore.
The dog now shockingly bore a human head, its black hair like a lion’s mane hanging behind, with only thin fuzz on its face revealing distinct human facial features.
It looked more like a person than a dog!
Father Jiang’s eyes, Mother Jiang’s ears, Wen Hu’s nose, Wen Yue’s mouth... Its appearance was like a mash-up of all four family members!
What kind of mindset did Wen Wen possess to be able to squat unfazed in front of this dog and ask questions?
"Good doggy, I’m staying here tonight, you be a good boy!" Wen Wen said stroking the hair on the dog’s head, and as he did, the dog comfortably rolled over to show its belly.
"By the way, what is this dog’s name?" Wen Wen asked after petting it for a while, his attitude like someone who adored small animals.
Wen Yue hesitated before shaking her head. The dog had a name, but ever since the transformation occurred, no one called it by that name anymore.
"Let’s call it Human-Headed Dog then."
Wen Wen unilaterally decided on a new name for the dog, causing it to roll its eyes.
"Damn, a dog’s lips actually looking somewhat sexy, nearly gave me some bold ideas."
After petting for a while, Wen Wen suddenly looked at the Human-Headed Dog with a weird gaze and quickly stood up, distancing himself from the dog.
"Are you really staying here tonight...?"
Jiao Xinlei asked tentatively. After seeing the dog, she felt this place was simply a demon’s lair; not just the people were abnormal, but the dog too, and there might be other abnormalities as well.
How had she ever made up her mind to come here?
"Not just me, you need to stay too," Wen Wen said softly.
Jiao Xinlei exclaimed sharply, "What!"
"Currently, this family faces two possible problems. First, they themselves have caused some calamity, resulting in these things seeking revenge."
"The second possibility is that they are innocent and because they violated some taboo, that’s why those things have latched onto them."
"If it’s the second possibility, by coming to this villa, you might have violated the taboo too. Even if you leave now, you might encounter a mishap on the way like Jiang Wenyue did."
"The likelihood is slim, but are you sure you want to take that gamble? After all, although this is frightening, there won’t be any life-threatening danger, will there?"
Wen Wen looked at Jiao Xinlei teasingly. He was ninety percent sure that Jiao Xinlei wouldn’t face any problems if she left, but he wanted her to stay here.
Of the four people in this villa, all were strangers to Wen Wen. Having Jiao Xinlei there, whom he somewhat knew, made things relatively easier. He didn’t want to bother establishing good relations with the others.
In his view, any of these four family members could be problematic.
The Jiang Family members, except for Jiang Wenyue, didn’t really trust Wen Wen, but since he insisted on staying, they didn’t have any solution.
Wen Wen sized up the situation and then said to Jiang Wenyue, "Miss Jiang, please show me around the villa now. I want to assess the situation and try to resolve it tonight."
Jiang Wenyue nodded. She had just been saved by Wen Wen and was mostly obedient to him.
Under her guidance, Wen Wen visited every corner of the villa. In the attic and the basement, he sensed a fairly strong presence of undead Qi.
Compared to this undead Qi, Ghostly Qin Shuang was like a chick just hatched from an egg, utterly weak.
And this was during the day!
However, what somewhat reassured him was that these Qis weren’t emanating from an individual but were the effect of multiple ghostly Qis mixed together.
Now in this villa, there probably resided more than one ghost. One could imagine what these ghosts might do at night.
And yet, under such conditions, this family had been living here for months, merely getting scared?
"Speaking of which, the closer to that dog, the heavier the undead Qi becomes, maybe... huh." Wen Wen smirked.
...
After completing his inspection, the Jiang Family members arranged a bedroom for Wen Wen and Jiao Xinlei.
This was the only bedroom fit for habitation since moving in, as the house had been haunted, and they didn’t have the energy to tidy up the other guest rooms.
In fact, it was still afternoon, but the family rarely went to do anything alone anymore.
But Wen Wen had no plans to rest here; he was full of energy and could manage perfectly well without sleep.
In the bedroom, Wen Wen sat with his legs crossed on a chair, playing with the Rune Dagger in his hands, appearing in no rush whatsoever.
Jiao Xinlei sat beside him, glanced at the door, then quietly asked Wen Wen, "Are you really sure about this? If not, let’s go back first, I’m a bit scared..."
Apart from Wen Wen and Jiang Wenyue, the other three family members frightened her, especially the presence of that dog, nearly keeping Jiao Xinlei glued to Wen Wen’s side.
"Really, what a coward, with me here, what’s there to fear? That inspiration on you is truly wasted," Wen Wen said with a snort.
Jiao Xinlei scratched her head, "Inspiration? What inspiration?"
"I wasn’t supposed to tell you, but since you’re already involved in this, I’ll explain a bit." Wen Wen put away the dagger and said with a smile.
