Chapter 988: Chapter 529 There’s No Need to Mention the Mightiness_3
Xiao Qin shouted with vigor, "Everybody, step back farther, the tiger on the truck is about to come down. This tiger hasn’t been raised in a zoo, it’s unfamiliar with so many people, don’t startle it into an accident. Make way, everyone, make way..."
Young people just lack experience. When he hollered that message, did people actually move back?
Hey, it’s not even raised in a zoo, so is it wild? Well, that’s even more worth seeing. If we miss this chance, who knows if we’ll ever get to see a wild tiger in our lifetime?
So Xiao Qin shouted for quite a while, but by the time Yan Fei had opened the truck’s tailgate with the driver’s help, not a single person had moved away. On the contrary, more people crowded around, pushing a bit closer to the front. Luckily, everyone was somewhat conscious about it and, thankfully, they didn’t just tear down the makeshift cordon and rush in.
As for the truck driver, he was a clever one, having been cautious from the moment he took on this job. When Yan Fei was loading the tiger near the river, this guy locked himself in the cabin and shut the door tight. Now after opening the truck barrier, he sprinted toward the distance.
The crowd was taken aback. The driver, a broad and brawny man, had now adopted the look of a startled hare. The urgency in his dash left the onlookers, who were initially stunned, bursting into laughter shortly after.
Someone even yelled at him, "Hey buddy, are you still a man? Aren’t you a driver for the zoo, and you haven’t seen a tiger before?"
It isn’t that everyone was brave, but they all assumed the tiger must be in a big cage. Even if it was fierce, those tiger teeth couldn’t possibly bite through steel bars, right?
Some people were filled with anticipation, some were egging things on, and others were worried about potential accidents. Only Comrade Old Wu kept a straight face throughout, unmoved, not shifting his position at all, embodying the air of ’Laoda.’
And then, as the tailgate crashed down completely amidst everyone’s expectant gazes, a massive shadow leapt from the truck, accompanied by a deep, heart-trembling roar.
This was Tiger Da’s first public appearance in front of such a crowd.
A real white-foreheaded tiger with black and yellow stripes, its fur shimmering like silk. Towering and robust, although not as big as an ox, there was a menacing aura about it that overshadowed the ox’s by countless folds.
With muscular and agile limbs and a tail like a steel whip, its presence was filled with a palpable power, radiating two words from every inch: impressive grandeur.
Once it steadied itself, despite the surrounding crowd, it paid no heed to them, oozing the royal demeanor of the king of beasts. Probably having felt quite suffocated inside the vehicle, it sauntered a couple of steps upon disembarking, then vigorously shook its head a few times, causing the iron chain to clank loudly.
Next, it stretched backward, stretched its front paws forward, and lowered its body to stretch in a big lazy yawn. As it opened its mouth wide, the white, gleaming sharp teeth and the protruding canines looked exceptionally ferocious.
It was after these nonchalant stretches that it finally glanced at the people around, its mouth corners slightly parting as it let out two deep roars.
Right after roaring, its nose twitched a few times, and it glanced in the direction of the zoo not far ahead, then let out a roar toward that direction.
"Aoow..."
That roar made even the people far away, who had been stunned, feel unsteady on their feet.
"Stop shouting!" Just after Tiger Da had roared imposingly, his head was smacked with a slap.
Immediately, Yan Fei leapt down from its back and called out to Headmaster Old Wu in the distance, "Director Wu, find someone to lead the way!"
The truth was, due to his much smaller stature compared to Tiger Da’s, people hadn’t even noticed him riding down on the tiger’s back. Even when Tiger Da had hunkered down for its fierce roar, Yan, clinging onto its neck from behind, was still largely ignored, with everyone’s eyes fixed on the imposing Tiger Da, neglecting its actual master.
Of course, he had played a role in preventing chaos. At least, his timely dismount and the sight of him holding the leash made those with ’knees trembling, ready to flee’ feel significantly more secure.
Though a major chaos was avoided, a minor commotion was inevitable. But since everyone kept their distance, the impact wasn’t severe.
When Yan called out, Director Wu was still in shock and didn’t respond until Xiao Qin nudged him. Only then Wu regained his senses. "Alright, alright, I’ll lead the way, lead the way..."
No sooner had he spoken, a voice rang out: "Mama mia! Help..."
The voice belonged to none other than Comrade Old Zheng.
Don’t ask why he was the only one crying for help. Because he was the one who most disregarded Xiao Qin’s ’nonsense’, because he was the most ’composed’, scorning to run as far as everyone else did at the mention of a tiger—he had been standing closest to the truck.
Tiger Da’s size, not counting its tail, was a good three meters long. With a single leap, it vaulted right over him.
While everyone was still astounded by Tiger Da’s stature, they had ’forgotten’ about him.
Previously unresponsive, now he was, and upon seeing the huge beast next to him, whose tail was thicker than his arm. Although Tiger Da didn’t pay any attention to him, the shock nearly caused him to faint.
Director Wu himself had been quite frightened, but seeing him in that state, he suddenly relaxed.
