"We do have some, but the quantity is low and they aren’t very good. They wouldn’t fetch a good price on the market due to the mediocre quality they have for their class. The cattle in our farm are genuinely cared for, which makes a notable difference from the regular cattle out there!" Yan Fei answered this question offhandedly, leaving Mayor Chen thoroughly disappointed and re-focused on the contract.

Then, Yan Fei repeated his confidential spiel, insisting that there was no option but to accept it. The crux of the matter was price. As long as it stayed confidential, everything was fine. After all, selling beef to Hong Kong was not something that could be kept a secret for long.

After dinner and a small chat, Yan Fei head straight towards the cattle farm. Upon seeing him, the otherwise worry-faced young woman asked, "Did Heizi not say that the case has been cracked? Why did it take you so long to return? And, how did you catch that murderer?"

Yan Fei, true to form, did not hide any details from the young woman, admitting honestly, "I had transformed into a bird that led two Golden Eagles to search everywhere, until we found him!"

The young woman shot him a glance and chose to ignore this bizarre explanation, whispering instead, "I know you’re good at what you do and handle things well, but you should be careful. Murderers are dangerous and what if they get desperate?"

Yan Fei then shared everything that happened after encountering the murderer with the young woman, including the whining tantrums and his repeated suicide attempts. Seeing as how this information was relayed back to the farm by Heizi, she was aware and no further explanation was needed.

The whole matter was indeed distressing. If you were to say that you hate this murderer! But he was driven into such extreme actions because of alcohol-induced rage, and he wasn’t a bad person otherwise. Nevertheless, it was awful and the whole situation rankled with discomfort and unease!

Seeing her as upset as he was, Yan Fei tried to pacify her, "Let it be. These things are not within our control. We should focus on managing our own business. Old Pan even mentioned....."

As he was trying to console her, his pager beeped. A quick glance had Yan Fei muttering, "They can’t be here already, can they?"

Noticing the young woman’s gaze, he explained, "It’s a message from Director Dai. He asked me to call him back right away...."

The phone was stationed in the next room where liquor is sold. The farm workers were good at leading civilian lives. Heizi’s daughter-in-law, Miss Xiao Rui, who now works as a part-time receptionist at the liquor shop. In addition, with the phone stationed in that room’s mini window, it serves as a shared resource and also brings in a little bit of cash from the calls made.

After making a call, Yan Fei, not wanting the traffic noise to intrude, decided to not put the phone on speaker and held it to his ear.

Within a few words, Yan Fei’s expression grew grim.

"What happened?" the moment he hung up, the young woman asked, looking at his stern face.

"It’s nothing. I need to think before speaking." Yan Fei replied, heading outside.

Entering the adjacent room, Yan Fei said, "Director Dai said that the higher-ups have notified him about the plan we had initially discussed, it is to be postponed."

"Why are we postponing? We already paid the deposit, didn’t we?" Xu Xiaoyan asked, and then likely figured out the reason herself, "Is it because they’re waiting for an investment? At that point, this technology will be one of their conditions?"

"Probably so!" Yan Fei nodded.

"Isn’t this dishonest? We’ve already paid the deposit!" The young woman’s face turned crimson with anger.

"Forget it, if it won’t work, then just forget it. Worst case, we can feed the Breeding Bull more delicacies to make them.. umm.. multiply a bit more..." Yan Fei was just as peeved and almost slipped upon choosing his words. "Old Dai said that if we want to wait, we can keep waiting. Let’s see if they change their decision in a few days. If we don’t want to wait, we can take our deposit back whenever we want. If I’m busy for next few days then he can bring it over! There’s no one else to blame for this. As I see it, his role as the director doesn’t bear much authority...."

The young woman didn’t really notice anything off about his statement. Since there was no feasible course of action available, she found herself simply nodding in agreement.

Noticing her lack of interest in the cash register, Yan Fei’s mood turned more sour.

Why are all these disgusting things happening today?

It was a feeling that rarely ever arose in Yan Fei’s heart, which made him increasingly unhappy.

After thinking about it for a moment, Yan Fei decided to address her, "You take care of the accounts, I will head out to the police station to see. I gather this murderer won’t be detained at our small police post for long, they’ll soon hand him over to the county! I’ll see if there’s anything I could assist them with...."

Saying this, Yan Fei hopped onto his motorcycle and went out to the mentioned ocation.

Arriving at the police station, he started wandering around casually, like a person with no worries.

There was not much needed done about this case. The offender didn’t resist and had confessed to everything as soon as he was brought in. The police station must report such cases, it’s paramount to the good public spirits after catching an offender.

The superior had informed them that there’s not enough manpower at the police station to keep the offender, soon there would be transportation coming to take him away. This instance has had a significant impact, therefore the verdict would come swiftly to assuage the public sentiments. After the due process concludes, the offender would be sent to prison.

Yan Fei loitered for a bit before drifting into Lin Baoguo’s office. Lin Baoguo was so busy he didn’t have time to entertain him. Yan Fei picked up a newspaper and murmured, "The lunch that Mayor Chen treated us to was so rich, I overate, I need to go take a dump..."

Lin Baoguo didn’t care, he waved him away.

With the newspaper in hand, Yan Fei strolled to the bathroom and saw a young police officer squatting in there. He looked distasteful, "This restroom is too small, it’s not comfortable to squat in. I’ll go to the government compound’s restroom..."

The police officers in the station were familiar with him and jokingly bantered, "Boss Yan is now a big boss and he can’t stand our restroom. I need to report to the director that if we don’t renovate this restroom, we won’t be able to retain people like Boss Yan!"

Yan Fei giggled in agreement and headed inwards.

Though the town government didn’t have a lot of people, the compound was quite large. Many of the buildings were old, and if one were to count, although they couldn’t compete with the ancient buildings at the high school campus, they certainly had their own history.

The pines and cypresses inside had quite a few years on them. After entering the gate, the houses on either side were made of old green bricks and tiles. In the far corner stood a new office building, which contrary to its name was really an old building freshly painted and slightly refurbished, and was now being called the new office building.

Yan Fei didn’t really intend to use the restroom. He walked a few steps into the town government compound and when he saw no one around, he slipped into a corner. Hidden behind a few trees, he vanished instantly.

Soon after, a small black bird appeared in the same spot. It hopped about, looking left and right, then with a flap of its wings, it soared into the sky.

Feeling pent up, it needed to vent!

Almost instantly, the small black bird’s speed picked up, and like a small streak of black lightning, it crossed over the polluted river and flew over his own earthworm mushroom greenhouse in the blink of an eye.

The two golden eagles in the sky saw the speed of the small black bird and couldn’t react in time.

They now knew that if the small black bird wanted them to keep pace, it wouldn’t go at this speed. At this speed, they simply couldn’t keep up.

As it is currently growing stronger, Yan Fei had not tested the speed of the small black bird for some time. He planned to do so when the increase in strength was no longer evident.

Nevertheless, he was sure that its current speed had to exceed 500km per hour. Calculating, roughly 140m per second.

As for the destination, the cow research institute was not too far away. If the speed was fast enough, the round trip would take about half an hour.

He was already furious about the foreign capital matter, and now with these near blackmail tactics, he wouldn’t be able to cool down without seeing what these people were up to!

If he was not satisfied, then he’d make everyone dissatisfied. Just because he’s unsatisfied doesn’t mean there’s no problem. He’s never been that kind of guy...

He hadn’t decided on what to do, but he was unsatisfied, so he decided to go loiter around. As for what to do, he would think about it once he got there...

Taking an excessively long bathroom break of about half an hour, even for a number two, is a bit much. But then again, who would be that bored to time someone while they were using the bathroom?

The small black bird was fast. In the blink of an eye, it had reached the city.

The city was bustling, but Yan Fei was not in the mood for sightseeing. He flew straight past it.

The research institute where the cows were kept wasn’t inside the city, but further west.
