Carlotta's Daily Report
Chapter 47: War?

Chapter 47: War?

In the imperial capital Kestholm, there are five major alchemy workshops: the Patro Workshop, the Montgomery Workshop, the Markel Workshop, the Charlotte Workshop, and the Thompson Workshop.

These five workshops almost represent the pinnacle of alchemy in the Wendell Empire, with each workshop having many alchemy masters stationed there.

The alchemy master Theatre Ashfield, whom Carlotta knows, has a cooperative relationship with the Charlotte Workshop.

Lily Bryne, on the other hand, collaborates with the Montgomery Workshop.

Apart from these five major workshops, the imperial capital naturally also has numerous smaller alchemy workshops scattered like stars.

Although they may not match the five major alchemy workshops, they still possess a very impressive level of skill.

Those with insufficient standards would not be able to survive in the imperial capital, where every inch of land is worth its weight in gold.

Near the Caerwyn Academy, there is an alchemy workshop named Moonlight, which is Carlotta’s destination.

Not long after leaving the academy, Carlotta arrived at the Moonlight Alchemy Workshop.

Alchemy workshops are usually divided into two parts: one part is the area where various alchemy tools are sold, and the other part is the area where alchemy tools are made. The former is naturally open to the public.

Carlotta felt as if she had entered a shopping mall. The surrounding space was spacious, with rows of shelves displaying a dazzling array of alchemy tools.

A female attendant with a pleasant appearance saw Carlotta and immediately approached to inquire, "May I ask what kind of alchemy tool the customer is looking to purchase?"

Carlotta replied, "I have an alchemy tool that is slightly damaged and needs some repair."

"I understand. I will contact the alchemist in the forging area right away." The attendant asked Carlotta to wait for a moment and then headed to the forging area.

While the attendant was away, Carlotta wandered around the product area. The alchemy tools displayed here were mostly of ordinary quality, with prices ranging from four thousand to six thousand orrae.

A few superior alchemy tools could be seen, and none of these were priced below ten thousand orrae.

Carlotta didn’t wander for long before the attendant returned, "Customer, could you please come with me to the forging area? Mr. Cohen is too busy to come over."

"No problem."

Carlotta didn’t think much of it and immediately followed the attendant through the product area, walking down a long corridor to the forging area.

As soon as she approached the forging area, Carlotta heard the sound of heavy hammer strikes and felt waves of heat rolling through the air.

In the area before her, many furnaces were arranged, each engraved with mysterious and complex runes, exuding a sense of artistry and mystery.

Around each furnace, several people were gathered, doing things that Carlotta couldn’t quite understand, perhaps they were practicing alchemy?

Carlotta followed the attendant to a furnace where only one person stood, a young man with short brown hair.

He glanced at Carlotta, "I’m Lawrence Cohen. What alchemy tool do you need to repair?"

Carlotta immediately raised her hand, took off the Rose Cross, and handed it to Lawrence.

"My alchemy tool was damaged by fire, but it shouldn’t be too difficult to repair, right?" Carlotta asked.

"Indeed, it’s not difficult," Lawrence said indifferently, "The repair fee is one thousand orrae, and it will take ten minutes."

"No problem," Carlotta nodded.

Lawrence didn’t say anything more. He placed the Rose Cross aside, opened a nearby cabinet to reveal a collection of bottles and jars, selected one, opened it, and poured out some red liquid, which he then applied to the blade of the Rose Cross.

Carlotta looked at the Rose Cross and then around her, feeling the bustling atmosphere of the alchemy workshop.

Soon, she showed a look of surprise because she overheard some information from the conversations around her.

"Mr. Cohen, has the imperial government placed an order for weapons with your workshop?" Carlotta couldn’t help but ask.

"Yes," Lawrence replied, as this was not a secret.

Carlotta raised her eyebrows, "The Moonlight Workshop is quite impressive to receive an official order."

Lawrence waved his hand, "Not really. The government has placed orders with all the alchemy workshops in the capital, not just ours."

"Why is that?" Carlotta was surprised.

The imperial government should have its own alchemy workshops and only occasionally place external orders. But placing orders with all the alchemy workshops in the capital is somewhat unusual.

Lawrence shook his head, "How would we know? We can only guess, and the current speculation is that the empire might be heading for a war, hence the great demand for weapons."

War?

Carlotta’s expression changed slightly.

No matter which world it is, the word "war" always sounds unsettling. It is not a pleasant term, representing bloodshed, fire, and separation.

Lawrence continued, "So recently, we have been very busy. Fortunately, your alchemy tool is easy to repair. If it were a time-consuming repair job, I wouldn’t have taken it."

Carlotta asked curiously, "If a war is possible, who would the empire fight against?"

Lawrence shrugged, "Who knows? But there are only two options: either the Velmoria Empire or the Sun Moon Federation."

One to the north, one to the south, it’s as simple as that.

As for the various kingdoms to the west, they are naturally separated from the Wendell Empire by mountains, with no shared borders, making conflict unlikely.

The possibility of war, although surprising to Carlotta, didn’t make her think too much about it. After all, if a war did break out, it would be far from her.

Ten minutes passed quickly, and when the repaired Rose Cross was presented to Carlotta, she nodded in satisfaction with the craftsmanship of the Moonlight Alchemy Workshop.

She promptly paid the one thousand orrae, reattached the Rose Cross to her necklace, and left the workshop.

At this moment, the red moon faintly appeared on the horizon, with twilight approaching but not yet arrived.

Having nothing else to do in the evening, Carlotta went to the cafeteria to solve her dinner, rested for a while, and then went to the training ground to practice until late at night before returning to her dormitory to sleep.

In the blink of an eye, it was a new day.

Perhaps because she had resolved some troubles and felt a bit more relaxed, Carlotta slept deeply and woke up to the bright daylight, with the chirping of birds outside the window.

She got up, walked over to open the curtains, and let the bright sunlight pour in.

Then, as usual, she went to wash up while silently calling out the information and checking today’s updates.

[ 1. Due to various reasons, the sentences of Lucius Dias and Jemima Dias have been extended to twenty years, and they will not be able to see the prosperity of Kestholm for a long time.]

The first piece of information made Carlotta very happy.

At the same time, she sighed a little. This couple of civil servants should have had a fulfilling and prosperous life. If it weren’t for dealing with her, how could they have ended up like this?

The conflict between the two sides really couldn’t be blamed on her. It was all caused by Bernard in pursuit of Soren. From beginning to end, she was just defending herself.

"You guys, you got what you deserved," Carlotta murmured.

[ 2. The Wendell Empire and the Velmoria Empire have already had many conflicts at the border. Duke Francis has been reorganizing his army, and a larger conflict is inevitable.]

This was intelligence about war.

There was no doubt that it was because Carlotta had learned related information at the Moonlight Alchemy Workshop that she obtained such intelligence.

The alchemists in the alchemy workshop guessed very accurately. A war between empires was really coming.

Carlotta couldn’t help but think of the alchemy master Lily Bryne, who had gone to the Duchy of Francis.

Could it be that she went to the Duchy of Francis to provide alchemical weapons?

This matter only made Carlotta a little curious. As a student of the Caerwyn Academy in the imperial capital, even if war broke out, it would not affect her.

[3. Gavin Fanello, the captain of the Public Security Bureau team, while performing his official duties, saw that the suspect was a student of a Transcendent academy and a third-level apprentice. He couldn’t help but think of Carlotta White’s astonishing combat power, which made him subconsciously go all out and accidentally beat the suspect half to death. He is now facing charges of excessive law enforcement.]

Carlotta was stunned.

No... Could this kind of thing still be related to her?

"Captain Fanello, not every third-level apprentice is called Carlotta White... Well, good luck anyway."

Carlotta’s expression was a bit subtle.

[4. Soren Carlisle learned about Carlotta White’s affairs and found it hard to believe that even the trouble of killing someone in the street could be easily resolved.

This made her feel extremely irritable. She didn’t like Carlotta, even to the point of extreme dislike. Learning that Carlotta’s connections were growing and her days were smooth sailing, she finally made a decision.

She contacted the assassin organization "Sunset Rose," paid a sum of money, and planned to make Carlotta disappear forever through assassination.]

"Soren, you fucking bitch."

Carlotta just glanced at the information and couldn’t help but curse, loudly cursing Soren, who was far away at Victoria Academy.

Every time she saw information about Soren, it made her blood pressure rise because Soren always did things that made her extremely angry.

In a short time, Carlotta used all the curse words she could think of.

Carlotta was not unfamiliar with the assassin organization Sunset Rose because this assassin organization had a great reputation, of course, a very bad one. All those who could be confirmed as Sunset Rose assassins were wanted by the empire.

But the Sunset Rose assassin organization, for every order they took, could basically complete it because the assassins they sent, when they felt it was difficult to complete the task, would choose to let stronger assassins take action.

This layer-by-layer progression basically meant there was no target they couldn’t assassinate.

Being targeted by an assassin organization like Sunset Rose, not to mention an ordinary academy student like Carlotta, even the children of nobles would feel a headache.

Without a large group of people following them, they probably wouldn’t dare to go out.

This was an extremely headache-inducing matter.

Soren actually found Sunset Rose to assassinate her, which made Carlotta extremely angry. She knew how much trouble she would face next.

"I can’t take it anymore, that Soren, I have to kill her as soon as possible!"

Carlotta really couldn’t wait any longer. Soren was a huge disaster. If she didn’t kill her, who knew how much trouble awaited her.

While thinking about how to kill Soren, she looked at the fifth piece of information, the last one for today, and her expression immediately became subtle.

[ 5. Sunset Rose only has one stronghold in the imperial capital Kestholm, located at No. 152, Andrew Street, Spice District. This area, which appears to be a bookstore on the surface, is actually the underground area where assassins exchange tasks.]

Carlotta really didn’t expect that just as she was feeling anxious about being targeted by Sunset Rose, she now knew the location of their stronghold?

"Can I also go directly and issue a task to hunt Soren?"

Carlotta muttered.

But after a little thought, she knew this method was not feasible. Unlike killing her, who was a civilian, the reward needed to kill a noble’s child was probably not something she could afford.

Most importantly, issuing a task to Sunset Rose probably wasn’t done by directly going to their stronghold, right?

She thought Soren probably didn’t know where Sunset Rose’s stronghold was either, but contacted them through other means to issue the task.

Such an important place as a stronghold couldn’t be known by customers. It was a place only the assassins knew.

If Carlotta really went there to issue a task, she would be walking into a trap.

Then just report it.

Carlotta quickly had an idea. She believed the Public Security Bureau would be very interested in Sunset Rose’s stronghold.

But how to report it also needed some consideration. She couldn’t let people know it was her who reported it.

When she reported a wanted criminal with a bounty of only thirty thousand, she was targeted by Bram and others for so long, and the trouble had just been resolved.

If Sunset Rose knew their stronghold was reported by her, the trouble she would face would be even more terrifying.

She also couldn’t not report it. Sunset Rose had already taken Soren’s order to assassinate her, so she had to do something.

"Reporting is a must, but it needs to be done with some skill."

After thinking it over, Carlotta took a leave from the academy, using yesterday’s incident as a reason, saying she was frightened, and successfully took half a day off, her matter was naturally known to the academy’s instructors.

After taking leave, Carlotta didn’t go for breakfast but stayed in her dormitory. Through "The Complete Guide to Card Magic," she first created her eighth card, Poison Detection!

Assassins often use poison when killing targets, and Carlotta prepared in advance. The Poison Detection card could detect the presence of most toxins, greatly enhancing her safety.
