Carlotta's Daily Report
Chapter 48: So Rumours are True

Chapter 48: So Rumours are True

Carlotta finished making her poison detection card before heading to the cafeteria for a meal.

She held the poison detection card, infused it with magic, and waved it over the food. The card showed no signs of change, indicating that the food was safe.

The poison detection card couldn’t detect every toxin in the world, but it could identify most of them, significantly improving her safety.

Only then did Carlotta feel at ease to eat.

She didn’t know what methods the Sunset Rose would use against her, and even though she was within the walls of Caerwyn Academy, she felt no sense of security.

’I need to speed up the process of reporting the Sunset Rose,’ Carlotta thought to herself.

After a morning of contemplation, she had come up with a way to report them without exposing herself.

However, no matter the method, she couldn’t complete it within the academy. Leaving the academy was a necessary step.

But leaving the academy would also mean significantly increasing the risks she faced.

So, after some thought, Carlotta decided she needed to find someone to accompany her to ensure her safety outside the academy.

She quickly settled on a candidate: Amelia Fenwick.

"I’ll have Amelia accompany me. As for the reason..."

All the information about Amelia quickly surfaced in Carlotta’s mind.

She was, apart from Amelia herself, the person who knew Amelia best in this world. She knew all of Amelia’s preferences and what could motivate her.

Amelia’s mother loved watching various opera performances, and perhaps influenced by her mother, Amelia also enjoyed opera.

Whenever she had time, she would visit the major opera houses in the capital as a devoted audience member.

One of the singers, Lucy Stuart, was currently a popular vocalist in the Wendell Empire, known for her high-level performances. She was also Amelia’s favorite singer at the moment.

Coincidentally, Lucy Stuart was scheduled to perform today at the Dawn Opera House in the capital.

Earlier, when Carlotta had lured and killed Bram and the others, she had casually bought a newspaper on the street and skimmed through it.

At the time, the newspaper had featured an announcement about Lucy’s upcoming performance.

Carlotta knew that if she invited Amelia to watch Lucy’s performance at the Dawn Opera House, she would likely not be refused.

"Anyway, I’ll go find her first."

After finishing her meal at the cafeteria, Carlotta headed to Amelia’s class.

Amelia practiced memory magic, but since there were too few people studying this type of magic, it wasn’t offered as a separate class. Instead, Amelia was in the Comprehensive Magic Class One.

Many magic path that couldn’t form a standalone class were grouped into the comprehensive magic classes, where experienced instructors provided guidance.

Of course, the instructors had to tailor their teachings to different magics, which was more time-consuming and labor-intensive, but their salaries were also higher.

Carlotta arrived at Comprehensive Magic Class One and, standing at the door, scanned the room. She quickly spotted Amelia sitting by the window in the back, reading a book.

As if sensing someone’s gaze, Amelia looked up.

Seeing this, Carlotta quickly waved.

Amelia, unsure of what Carlotta wanted, put down the book she was reading and walked out.

At the door, Amelia asked in a low voice, "What is it, Miss White?"

Carlotta smiled. "Miss Fenwick, I heard that the popular singer Lucy Stuart will be performing at the Dawn Opera House today. I’m planning to go watch. Would you like to join me?"

Amelia’s eyes lit up slightly. She had been dealing with a lot of things recently and hadn’t noticed that Lucy had come to the capital.

The performances of this renowned singer often brought great satisfaction, and she didn’t want to miss it.

Amelia nodded. "Let’s meet at the school building after classes end."

"No problem," Carlotta replied, not surprised by the outcome.

The two didn’t talk for long.

There were still afternoon classes to attend, and Carlotta returned to her Card Magic Class Two, she had only taken a half-day leave and still had to attend the afternoon session.

...

In the blink of an eye, it was time for class to end.

Carlotta first returned to her dorm and changed into a casual dress, a white fitted dress that added a touch of freshness and elegance to her appearance.

Then she headed to the school building, where Amelia was already waiting for her.

"Miss Fenwick, sorry to keep you waiting."

"It’s fine, I just got here."

The two of them then walked out of the academy together.

Unbeknownst to them, as they left, numerous eyes from around the academy watched them.

"I heard rumors that Carlotta White and Miss Fenwick were dating, but I didn’t believe it... Could it be true?"

"They’ve been spending a lot of time together recently."

"They must be going on a date now. I’m so jealous of Miss White for getting to date Miss Fenwick."

"If you look closely, Miss White is quite a cute girl herself. Is Miss Fenwick into that type?"

...

The Dawn Opera House was located in the Angelica District, not too far from Caerwyn Academy.

So Carlotta and Amelia didn’t bother with a carriage. Instead, they strolled through the streets leisurely, passing through the Fountain along the way.

There, Carlotta spotted a dessert shop where ice cream was on sale. Earlier, she had used the excuse of buying discounted ice cream to involve Amelia and the others in the incident where she lured and killed Bram and his group.

Now that they were here, Carlotta naturally didn’t miss the opportunity. She went up and bought two ice creams, one strawberry-flavored and one milk-flavored.

She used her poison detection card to check for safety before returning to Amelia’s side.

"Miss Fenwick, which flavor would you like?"

"The milk one, please."

Amelia didn’t refuse and took the ice cream, gently licking it with her tongue.

The sight was so adorable that Carlotta couldn’t help but stare for a moment, etching the image firmly in her memory.

They continued on, passing through the iconic landmark, the Fountain Square, and soon the Dawn Opera House came into view.

Seeing the grand outline of the Dawn Opera House from a distance, Carlotta couldn’t help but recall the rumors spread by Avery earlier, that the foreign language teacher and the math teacher had gotten into a heated argument over a singer at the Dawn Opera House, even coming to blows and injuring each other.

At that time, the two instructors had also taken leave, making this rumor seem even more credible.

Carlotta knew that Avery indeed had accurate sources of information, so this rumor was most likely true.

The Dawn Opera House was renowned, and the news of the famous singer Lucy Stuart’s performance today had already been published in the newspapers, so there were quite a few people coming to watch. The area outside the opera house was bustling with activity.

"Oh no, there are more people than I expected. I hope we can still get tickets," Carlotta was also startled by the scene outside the opera house.

"It’s alright, I’ll go buy the tickets," Amelia smiled slightly.

As a noble child, even if the tickets were sold out, she could still purchase them. The privileges of nobility were often that simple and straightforward.

Seeing Amelia head to the ticket office, Carlotta did not follow. She had not forgotten her purpose for today.

She quickly turned around and returned to the fountain square, scanning the corners of the square where she saw some homeless people.

Even in the prosperous capital of the Wendell Empire, the existence of homeless people was unavoidable, and their numbers were not small.

When no one was paying attention, Carlotta took out a white fox mask from her storage card and put it on. She then untied her twin tails, letting her red hair fall freely, red hair was a relatively common hair color.

She then approached a group of homeless people, took out several bills, and handed them to different individuals, each bill accompanied by a sealed letter.

Facing the puzzled looks from the homeless people, Carlotta said in a deep voice, "Deliver these letters to the Public Security Bureau. Whoever completes this task the fastest and returns will receive an additional one thousand bills from me, which should keep you comfortable for a long time."

Naturally, the letters contained her report on the Sunset Rose hideout.

The content of the seven letters was identical, and sending seven homeless people together was to increase the chances of success.

After all, she needed to rely on temporary homeless individuals to complete this task, and since she wasn’t familiar with them, she was worried they might not fulfill her request.

Upon hearing Carlotta’s words, the seven homeless people who had already received some money immediately sprang into action.

"Beautiful lady, please wait here, I’ll be back soon," one homeless man said before hurrying off towards the Public Security Bureau.

The others left without a word.

Carlotta watched the seven homeless people disappear, then placed one thousand bills in a corner, securing them with a small stone before leaving.

The outcome would be revealed by tomorrow’s intelligence.

She left the fountain square and returned to the outside of the Dawn Opera House.

During this time, she quietly removed the mask and stored it in her storage card, then tied her hair back into twin tails with a hair tie.

By the time she finished tying her hair, she saw Amelia looking for her in the crowd.

"Miss Fenwick," Carlotta quickly ran over.

Amelia turned around and said, "The tickets are bought... Miss White, where did you go?"

Carlotta shrugged, "My hair tie fell on the ground and I couldn’t find it, so I went to buy a new one."

The hair tie she used was indeed different from the previous one.

Amelia glanced at Carlotta’s twin tails and didn’t think much of it. "There are a lot of people in the opera house. As girls, we should be careful and avoid getting too close to others."

Carlotta nodded repeatedly.

The Dawn Opera House, as a highly prestigious opera house, was ranked alongside the Elf Opera House and the Rose Opera House as one of the three major opera houses in the capital. Its staff were relatively responsible and capable of organizing the crowd well, so it wouldn’t become overly crowded.

Carlotta and Amelia smoothly entered the opera house and took their seats in the front row.

’As expected of Amelia, getting front-row tickets...’

Carlotta silently marveled.

She looked around; the people sitting in the front row, regardless of who they were, all exuded an air of nobility.

Many of them even knew Amelia and greeted her. Naturally, Amelia responded politely until the performance began.

...

Gavin Fanello was feeling a bit irritable today.

After handling the Carlotta White incident yesterday, he had to deal with other cases. However, due to being distracted, he accidentally beat a suspect half to death.

Although in the world of superpowers, such injuries could be reversed with timely treatment, he still faced charges of excessive force.

Fortunately, it was later confirmed that the suspect was indeed a criminal, so he could continue working.

However, he was forced to write a lengthy self-criticism, which drained his brain... He didn’t even need to use so many brain cells when pursuing girls.

Just as Gavin was in a bad mood, the doors of the Public Security Bureau were suddenly slammed open, and several homeless people rushed in.

Before Gavin could react, the group of homeless people collectively threw down a letter and then turned around to leave in a hurry.

After a moment of shock, Gavin’s face darkened, and he shouted, "Arrest them all!"

The other officers in the Public Security Bureau were also startled by the actions of the homeless people.

Upon hearing Gavin’s command, they immediately sprang into action, swarming forward and quickly apprehending all the homeless people.

By this time, Gavin had already opened one of the letters and glanced at the contents. His expression changed dramatically upon reading the letter.

It was a report, and what was being reported was the hideout of the assassin organization, Sunset Rose, in the capital!

If the contents of the report were true, this would be an earth-shattering event!

After all, it was the assassin organization, Sunset Rose!

Gavin calmly collected all the letters and then asked the homeless people who had given them the letters. Naturally, the homeless people told the truth, which made Gavin frown.

A woman, wearing a mask, with red hair... Sorry, but red-haired people were quite common in the Wendell Empire, so such characteristics were practically useless.

Gavin then asked about her height and approximate build, but the homeless people just looked at each other.

They were just homeless people; why would they pay attention to such details?

"That lady said that after we returned, we could get more money and might even see her again?" one homeless person said.

Gavin immediately had his deputy take some people and follow the homeless group to the fountain square... Clearly, they would find nothing except for the one thousand bills secured under a stone.

As for Gavin himself, he went to his superior to report the matter of the Sunset Rose hideout.

Gavin’s superior was greatly shocked upon hearing the news and went to consult his own superior.

This matter had to be taken seriously!
