Chapter 154: Chapter 166: I Take Responsibility For Her Life (7)
He furrowed his brows and approached, lifting the quilt only to find Isabel’s phone on the bed vibrating incessantly due to his call.
Did she leave the house without her phone?
Percy furrowed his brows further, ending the call and bending over to pick up Isabel’s mobile phone. Percy easily spotted that Isabel had missed seven calls on her cell phone. Upon unlocking the screen, he was met with a MMS.
Percy enlarged the photo attached to the MMS, a scene of bright lights and merry drinking displayed. Among the crowd, Percy spotted a familiar face. If he remembered correctly, that face belonged to Elijah Smith, Isabel’s younger brother, whom Percy and Isabel had encountered at "Ten Mile Prosperity" a few days previously.
Percy pressed the return button and read the text underneath the MMS:
"Sister Isabel, Elijah is at Magnificent right now spending extravagantly with a bunch of others. I’m sending you this photo so you can see for yourself. If Grandma finds out, she will definitely scold Elijah for being useless! Oh by the way, forgot to mention, the cost here is quite high, no problem for them spending a million in one night. After all, they are hanging out with top-notch girls!"
Percy surmised that the reason Isabel dropped her phone and left in such a hurry was probably due to this MMS.
Now, without further consideration, Percy knew that Isabel must have gone to "Magnificent".
And it was all for her brother Elijah!
Back at "Ten Mile Prosperity", he had noticed that Isabel was all tensed up when she saw Elijah, it was obvious that she cared a lot about her younger brother. Therefore, upon receiving this MMS, upon seeing Elijah with the crowd in such a scene, she left in a hurry.
The message had been sent at around eight o’clock. That meant Isabel had been gone for almost three hours, and she still hadn’t come back yet. He had also observed at "Ten Mile Prosperity", that the relationship between Elijah and her did not seem to be the usual friendly rapport between siblings...
Could it be that there had been some argument between Isabel and Elijah?
Percy paused for a moment, then tossed Isabel’s phone back onto the bed. He turned and walked towards the door, locking it while simultaneously making a call to Joseph Tucker.
The call connected after several rings. Just as Percy was about to enter the elevator, he worried about losing signal and decided to take the stairs instead. During his descent, he greeted, "Brother-in-law."
"What’s up?" Joseph’s voice came through leisurely over the phone, also hinting at a bustling scene on his end. He was probably at some social engagement that hadn’t ended yet.
"If I remember correctly, ’Magnificent’ is owned by the heir of the Shaw family, right?"
"Yes, it is. What’s the matter?"
"Can you check for me if a person named Isabel Smith is still at Magnificent?" Percy paused and added, "She might be in a private booth opened by Elijah Smith."
"Isabel Smith?" Joseph quickly caught the key point and repeated the name: "A woman?"
The next second, Joseph said: "Raymond’s mother?"
"No." Percy denied with a frown, then explained, "I’m afraid something might happen to her, so I’m asking for your help to check."
"Alright, I’ll call you back in a bit." Joseph agreed straightforwardly, his tone soothing. He promptly ended the call.
Only then did Percy put his mobile phone away, walked from the staircase to the elevator at the same floor, rode the elevator down to the underground parking lot, briskly walked to his car, opened the car door, got in, started the car and drove away.
His movements were sharp and swift, not wasting any time!
...
In a fortunate coincidence, at Joseph’s dinner this evening, there happened to be a familiar colleague who was also present, none other than Mr. Clarke, the brother-in-law of Edward Shaw, the heir of the Shaw family.
