Chapter 153: Chapter 165: I Take Responsibility For Her Life (6)

After checking on what Raymond Thompson learned at school today, Percy Stanton gave him a bath and watched him go to bed.

Raymond had not napped well at school today, so he was really tired, and dozed off before 8:30 pm.

Percy stood by the bed, watching Raymond’s face for a while, before leaving the house quietly.

First, Percy went downstairs to the underground parking lot and fetched the items he had bought at the shopping mall today from the trunk of his car. He took them in the elevator back up to the floor with Isabel Smith’s apartment and went straight inside.

He unlocked the door and found that all the lights were on inside. After walking around the apartment, he noticed that no one was there. A faint familiar scent lingered in the air - Isabel’s scent.

Percy stood at the bedroom door for a while before returning to the entrance hall, picked up the water kettle and cups he had bought, and went to the kitchen. He rinsed them all with hot water, and then put a set on the kitchen dining table. Along the way, he took an expensive set of porcelain teapot and teacups from the kitchen dining table and put them in a storage box, taped it up and put it in the savings room.

Next, he took the sound control lamps to the bedroom. The apartment’s beam was not high, so he could just step on a table and reach the ceiling. He disassembled the decorative ceiling lights and installed the sound control lamps in their place.

Percy jumped off the table, turned off the bedroom lights, and gave a slight cough. Seeing the orange sound control lamps lighting up in succession, he was pleased. He turned the bedroom lights back on and rearranged the room to make space for the large carpet he bought, which he placed next to the bed.

Subsequently, he returned to the kitchen, grabbed the other set of plastic water kettle and cups, and put them on the tea table in the bedroom.

After all this, Percy stood in the center of the room and looked around. He finally felt at ease.

Now, if Isabel were to wake up in the middle of the night, she wouldn’t stumble in the dark. The plastic water kettle and cups, which were less likely to break, wouldn’t pose a danger even if occasionally dropped onto the thick carpet.

Percy checked the time and realized that it was almost 10:00 pm and Isabel still hadn’t returned home. He wasn’t sleepy; her scent was present in the bedroom, making him somewhat reluctant to leave. So, he sat down on the bedroom sofa, turned on the TV, and waited for her, albeit absent-mindedly.

As time ticked by, he actually grew increasingly concerned. Unable to resist any longer, he stood up and went to the balcony, looking down at the countless lights below, his eyebrows furrowing.

It was already 10:30 pm; why hadn’t she come back yet?

Where could she have gone alone?

The more he thought about it, the more agitated he became.

In fact, Bellshire City was very safe, and Percy knew that even if a maiden were to roam the streets late at night, nothing would happen to her. Yet, he couldn’t help feeling restless as a myriad of unsettling thoughts raced through his mind.

Finally, he took out his mobile phone and made a call to Isabel.

The call went through, but no one answered. Growing more worried, he made several more calls, but still, no one picked up.

Unable to stay calm any longer, Percy stepped out of the balcony, grabbed his car keys from the table, and prepared to head out. He continued trying to call Isabel as he left the apartment.

As he passed by the big bed in the bedroom, Percy heard a buzzing sound. He instinctively turned his head and saw a faint light glowing underneath the quilt.
