Building My Guild With A Blank Scroll -
Chapter 75: Just A Sneak Peek-3
Chapter 75: Just A Sneak Peek-3
"Husband, there’s something I have to tell you." Mia’s voice was heard as she stepped into the room, the study on the third floor of the mansion.
Seated at the other side of the desk with loads of documents spread out on it was none other than Vans. Looking up at her with his tired eyes, it was his prompt for her to spill the beans already.
"Master Lo-an needs to speak with you, it’s urgent— very urgent."
"Hmm, do you know what it’s about?" He asked as he stood up from the white and gold armchair.
"Mmhm, but it would be much better to hear it from them instead."
Both of them headed out of the room, stepping into the hallway and making their way to the staircase leading to the lower floors.
"Ugh, let’s hope it’s worth it. Weren’t you supposed to be sleeping, Mia?" He walked towards, and skipping she grabbed hold of his hand with both of them heading out to the door.
"Well, I had to work on some scrolls remember. The one’s they gave us, deciphering it is lots of stress." She exhaled deeply, displaying her exhaustion.
"Can’t blame them for sparing more than enough. It’s to our benefit, of course, we’d best have her cured in order to help you out."
"Hmm, let’s trust the Sterns right? But what if we—"
"No, we can’t. Elmores will deal with Elmores."
"If only you’d said the same for your nephew."
"Let’s just not add up more to his problems. He sure has lots to carry already."
"Ok, Darling. You’re the Boss."
"And you’re his wife."
"Hehe, mmhm."
Out of the corner of another path and hallway also which led to the one Vans were on, a head popped out behind them. As navy blue eyes could be seen looking in the direction they’d gone and upon noticing them disappear from her line of view, she leaned back to the the wall.
"Haaa! Finally..." Kezia sighed in relief, being able to now breathe again. For the slightest squeak would have been given her out, considering those two were spiritualists of high levels.
It was as if her petrification had been undone, with her hands sore and weak like her feet if not counting most of her body. Still, dropping the tray she held was out of the question with her only option being to get it delivered already.
’I’m so so much behind schedule, what if he’s already up and expecting it— ugh, I’m not forgiving the one who thrashed the kitchen.’ Her thoughts spun around in her mind as she briskly walked towards the west wing of the mansion’s third floor.
"Wait..." She halted as a realization knocked on the doors of her mind, unarmed enough to smash it in instead. "Cleaning up the mess destroyed the proof, who’d believe me now — ugh, so silly of me." Almost letting go of the tray to slap her forehead for not realizing it earlier.
Brushing it off eventually, Kezia soon found herself at the north wing and just like throughout the entire way, she hadn’t met anyone else. There were no guards around, and even the gardens at the entrance had no patrols too. For she knew it got a fair amount of security comparable to the entrance gates, the reason unknown.
*CLICK!
The door’s knob turned and the door slid open with a simple push as she proceeded into the room. "Great, he’s fast asleep." The large teenage figure of the Young Lord could be seen on the bed and Kezia headed to place the tray where it belonged.
"That’s liberating, haa." Having her hands free at last felt like an achievement she’d aimed for, for ages long.
*CREAK!
The hair on her entire body stood up in an instant as she froze at upon hearing the faint creaking sound. Slowly she turned around, not towards the bed with her eyes not landing on the door either. Rather she stared right that the wall, gulping hard as it came from another room— right after this one.
"Is she ok?"
••••••••••••••
"TELL ME!!! GRRR!" A growl was heard, one similar to a beast, for she couldn’t say it entirely belonged to one for what was before her was a human.
Veins were bulging all over her face, her teeth barred at her and salivating nonstop. For everything spoke of a beast, yet the fact that she was human couldn’t be denied.
*GRRR!
The growling came again as this time around, she stood up from the rocking chair.
"She– she–she..." The words couldn’t escape her lips, as her mind had blanked out with her heart racing. She couldn’t see a way out for she’d get noticed by the Lord Regent. Calling for help was an impossibility, as none were allowed to enter the room except a select few. Even the nobles couldn’t just enter and here she was, facing the music all alone.
’What was I thinking?! I’m- I’m going to die!!’
"GRRR! GRRAW!"
The figure before her, staring down at her with cold bright amber eyes took three steps forward. And as if she’d grown tired of walking, she was soon down on all fours. "GRRR!" A low guttural growl could be heard from her, as almost in an instant. She was halfway through to Kezia, able to move better that way than on both legs.
’Please, don’t kill me. Please don’t kill me.’ It was never something anyone could easily accept, yet I was getting close— death was drawing near. And so keeping her eyes shut, waiting to be pounced upon and gutted out. She could only pray the heavens would have mercy on ending her, which they seemed to actually do.
*CLANG!
*RATTLE!
*GRRRR!
*CLANG-CLANG!
*GRRRR!
The growling was so close to her, able to feel a certain suppression and a hot breath upon her. However, one thing was sure— she was very much alive.
*GRRR!
She didn’t know what was happening as the other seemed to be right before her, yet she remained alive. ’What do I do? Does she want to let me watch her finish me?’
*GRRR!
*GRR-GR-GRR-GRRAW!
*THUD!
"Eh?" In an instant Kezia’s eyes shot open, hearing a fall of someone or something instead.
"She’s..." Inches away from her, the body of Clara could be seen and no movements could be seen.
’Is someone else here?’ Slowly with her eyes fixated on the figure before her, she brought herself up from the ground when her eyes caught something.
It had a faint glow which seemed to be disappearing by the second. There were two, bounded around her ankles and having a connection which went on to another part of the room.
’Shackles? She’s been chained?’
•••••••••••••••••
"Ugh, haaa! How could an old woman be so heavy?"
"Says a so-called spiritualist eh, amazing."
"Hey, not all spiritualists are strong!" Alice protested, following the other through the pathway.
"Oh, then why become one then, if not to get stronger."
"You— hmph."
"Hehe..."
They seemed to be underground, as the area was made entirely of hardened soil. Leading both of them with a torch in hand was Thelma. Alice couldn’t tell where they were, having gotten there through the gardens. However, it was quite obvious it led to something big, and she had to find out.
"How long before we get there already?" She asked, the weight slowly becoming unbearable for her.
"That I can’t tell, it’s been ages since I came here."
"Ages, how long are we talking about?"
"A year or two I guess," Thelma stated, her eyes focused on the path ahead.
’It’s an old secret, this is good— so good...’ Alice thought, a brief smile creeping up her face.
’Let’s just hope this is the right one, that—’
*BAM!
Thelma’s thoughts were interrupted by something slamming into the hard-packed earth.
"Ouch, My body hurts." Alice cooed, her hand going to her neck and shoulder where she felt some pain.
"Hey, respect the dead at least?"
"Really? She wouldn’t be dead if you hadn’t killed her."
"Eh, I thought I couldn’t kill anyone. Won’t she be coming back alive soon too?"
Alice stared at her, this other shrugging and feigning ignorance as she continued on the path. "Drag her instead, she’s gonna be a snack anyways."
"Wait, what? A snack? To what?"
*GROWWWWL!
The entire area shook in an instant that one would think it was an earthquake. As with a smile now up her face, Thelma turned and said. "That, Joelle will finally met her beloved madam."
’Just a sneak peek won’t hurt right?’ Kezia thought as she stood at the door, the area silent with only her thoughts to be heard.
’It’s not like I’m entering or something. I’ll just take a look and shut it quickly.’ She tried to convince herself, which was barely working out considering her trembling hands.
Still, she was eager to go on with this objective. So inhaling and exhaling to calm down her nerves as much as she could.
*CLICK!
She twisted the knob, and the door proceeded to open up.
*CREAK!
Flinching upon hearing it, her hands kept on pushing it open and upon popping her head in first— she paused.
’She’s not there?’
