Chapter 58: Conquering The Senses
"Darkness, finally this dream is over. It seemed to never end, just a fragment of my memory." He lay afloat in an endless abyss. "Peace here I come— but, why does something seem off?"
’Have you been forgiven?’ A voice spoke, one unfamiliar to him. As he looked left and then right no one could be seen.
"Huh? Who was that? Is someone here?"
’Find me, Zlatan.’ A glitching image suddenly appeared out of nowhere before him, a bright light orb or so— he couldn’t tell. "I await you."
"It speaks?" He thought aloud, baffled that the voice came from the glitching entity he was seeing.
’Find me, Zlatan.’
"Are you real?" He questioned still intrigued and puzzled.
’What type of question is that?! Of course, I’m real, you hit your head or some—’ Just like that it was gone as if it was never there, leaving a wide eye and shocked Zlatan behind.
"That’s still not real, right? Ugh, what’s real or not doesn’t matter anymore— I’m dead. How’s that so hard to understand!" He yelled at himself.
"When is Big Brother going to wake up— hmph!" The tiny voice of his younger sister was heard in the space he was in.
"Waking up? You have to be kidding meee...!!"
Zlatan’s eyes flickered open to see a figure before him. "Belle?" He mumbled, looking at his little sister in a black gown and swinging her legs back and forth. She seemed to be patiently waiting for something or someone, her hair untied unlike what he recalled.
"Is this another dream?" His eyes darted around only to spot it, one of the trays, battered and face punched— his face. "That’s unlikely."
"Ah, brother is awake!" She said with a bright smile, clapping her hands cheerfully. "Yay!" Before he knew it, she had pushed herself off the dining table and was coming down at him.
’Why did I see that coming?’ She landed on top of him, embracing and squeezing him tight with all her little strength, which did nothing to him
after all.
"Will you eat now brother? I promise to not hit you again. Pinkie promise, mhm." Zlatan stared at her, trying to guess what she was up to this time round. "Don’t trust me again? Waaaah!"
’Tsk, that’s too obvious that it’s fake.’ He smirked within.
"I’ll eat."
"Really? Really???"
’I could swear on my death that I didn’t know how I’d said that just now.’
*GRUMBLE!
"Eeek!" Belle jumped off him onto the floor, startled by the sound and vibrations it brought.
’That I’ll accept was me of course, no biggie the dead don’t get hungry— hah, I have Spiritual Constant, I’d be full again with a snap of a finger.
*SNAP!
*SNAP!
"Um..." Across the table Elena and Jaisal simply stared at him, both enjoying their meals, the table having been cleared up from their recent stunts. "I give up, where’s it then."
’All I’d need to do is force myself to take a bite, would only taste sour then I’ll puke and that’ll be the end of this. A fail-proof plannn...’
His eyes widened in disbelief, seeing her returning from the other edge of the table with a mountain of food. ’That much? Who eats that much?!’
*THAMP!
The tray was dropped before him, Zlatan eyeing the large roasted chicken with smaller ones surrounding it. "I’ll bring the rest." She stated, dashing off back to the edge of the table at his left hand side.
’The rest? Is this a joke or something? Do I look suicidal here —maybe, but no, she’s definitely messing around.’
"Right? Righhht, she’s not." Placing the other down too, there were the roast chicken and pork— something he’d wondered how he was expected to eat the two.
"Mmm!" Glancing at Belle who now stood next to him with a wide smile up her face stretching from ear to ear. Her eyes rolled sideways towards the table reminding him to gobble it up.
’Better assemble whoever is going to be doing the clean up, I might get all this fat out in one go.’ Zlatan thought, reaching to grab one of the smaller pieces of the shredded ones around the chicken.
*WHACK!
"I’ll do it for you then, big brother," Belle said, having slapped his hand away. ’Do it for me? What’s wrong with this her now?’
Drawing the tray closer, her small hands grabbed the roast chicken. A hand on the body and another on the thigh, she easily yanked it off, Zlatan flinching as she did. "See!" She said happily, as if having obtained a new achievement with a claimable reward.
"It’s too muc— mm!" His mouth barely opened up, when the next thing he saw was something forcing its way into his mouth, followed by a giggle. Yet, the giggle of whatever faded away instantly just like everything else, all the nerves in his senses rushing to one in particular— taste.
’This... is... heaven!’ The oily, spicy, soft and meaty substance had conquered his buds in split seconds, if not faster than that instead.
Grabbing it, his teeth found it’s way to the flesh and bitting on it with a few munching— Zlatan’s eyes lit up bright with a joy which had once been lost in an unending void. He couldn’t believe it, how did he ever lose the taste of this? Seeing himself consider this as sour wasn’t something he could picture anymore, despite having occurred moments ago.
*NOHM!
*NOHM!
Zlatan craved for more having done with the earlier drumstick, and since he didn’t want to stop for a second fearing to lose that pleasuring taste. "I..Love...This." He said between mouthfuls of chicken, currently being in a beastly mode now, gobbling it down in a go. His hunger for more growing larger than before, as if he hadn’t eaten in years.
"Mm, mm. Mmm!" Before he realized it the chicken was consumed, the bones barely spared. Shoving the tray to the side, he didn’t feel an inch full, hungrily drawing the other tray closer.
’Eee, he’s faster than first now. Did I hit him too hard?’ Belle stared at her brother in awe. "Brother, should I go and get more meat for you."
"Yef Yef!" He raised a hand with a thumbs up, covered with evidence of his brutal handling of the poor pork before him. Belle skipped off towards the door, Zlatan resuming his feast, stuffing up his mouth one hand after the other. When soon, there was nothing left and almost done with the last round swirling in his mouth. His eyes darted around and fell on his cousins on the other side of the table.
"Hehehee— found one." A wide grin appeared on his face.
