Chapter 98: Nona

"Well, yes. If they are going to be strong enough for the days ahead, it will be best if they evolve, though I’ll not be the one naming them," Aric said. He sat down on his chair. "The spirits will handle that for me. They need to do something around here, after all," Aric said.

"Didn’t they help you take out the goblins?" Ronan asked.

"That, that’s not enough," Aric said. He leaned forward on the table, his elbows pressed hard against the wood with his interlocked fists right before his mouth.

"The next major issue is housing. This isn’t something that we can overlook. We lack the space to handle all of you now, so we’ll have to expand.

I hope the ogres can help in this expansion," Aric said.

"As you wish, Master Aric. I’ll head down and speak to the ogres. They’ll all be under your control from now," Ronan said.

"Good. I’ll leave that to you, Ronan. We have to start immediately, so get everyone ready. But don’t force anyone to work. Anyone who feels like they can work should work.

Anyone that’s willing to work will get some reward for it. I don’t want to make anyone slave away without reward.

Feeding will also be handled by me, so don’t worry about that," Aric said.

Ronan nodded and walked out of the office with the other four following him. Dawn smiled at Aric before she walked out, while Nala glanced over at him very quickly before walking out.

Immediately they got to the ground floor, Ragna stopped walking. "Young master," he called. Ronan turned around, looking at Ragna. "What’s the issue, Ragna?" he asked.

"The problem is this—all of this. It doesn’t make any sense. A half-elf is here in the middle of the forest, with hundreds of goblins and even spirits working for him. But that’s the least of my worries.

This whole place, it looks impossible. The building, the furniture, the life within these walls is too good to be true. And now he named all of us, and he didn’t even suffer any backlash or run out of mana.

We watched him take down hundreds of goblins, killing all of them with a spell unlike anything we have seen before. That spell should have definitely eaten into his mana.

So how is he able to still give us true names that easily? The only way something like that is possible, master, is if he had an immense mana pool, and that is also worrying," Ragna explained his concerns.

"Ragna worries too much," Dawn said while her eyes darted around the house, looking at the design.

"Dawn is right, Ragna. Your worries are too much. Whoever Master Aric is isn’t our business. He saved us when he could have allowed us to die.

He also agreed to us staying here without any condition, offered us work to build places for us to stay, and we will still be rewarded for it.

All he wants in return is our cooperation to help him defeat the Terror—a similar enemy to us," Ronan said.

"All you have said makes it seem more absurd, young master," Ragna said.

"You guys don’t have to worry. Nothing is going to happen to you," a female voice sounded. They immediately looked around for who had spoken, and they saw Nona leaning near a wall.

"How did you get in without us knowing?" Ragna asked. He clenched his fist, ready to fight just in case she tried to capture them for what they said.

"I’m Nona. I’m sure you have seen me around with the spirits. I don’t show up much, though. And as for how I got in here, that’s simple," she said, and a black portal appeared under her. She sank into the portal and came out right next to them from another portal.

"I’m a space spirit, one of the most powerful here, though I tend to be very laid back in the village. I overheard your worries about Aric, my master, but you really don’t have to be," she said, walking in front of them with her hands behind her back.

"And how do we know we are to trust what you say?" Ragna asked. Ronan shot him a look, but Ragna decided not to stop.

"Why? Because my master Aric is a naive half-elf. He is still trying to know what is what, to be honest. He could easily even take down the Terror without a single hassle.

All he needs to do is ask us, the spirits, and we would take care of that for him—like, very, very easily. But he doesn’t ask, and we won’t pressure him into it.

He could simply ask me, and I could literally teleport myself into the cave of the Terror, but he is busy making elaborate and very detailed plans on how to kill the Terror, trying to get your help and the help of others to actually pull this off.

So he really doesn’t need you guys. He thinks he does, but he doesn’t. So I think it would be in all your best interest if you make your way into his heart and solidify your stance now, before he becomes aware of his strength and stops needing the help of others.

That being said, I hope that you will not hold him in skepticism or mistrust him. Because I’ll be very honest with you, if you try to lay a hand on him or even disrespect him, you won’t live to tell the tale.

Look around. This place can either be your home or your burial ground. It is not a threat; it is a fact. Everyone here is willing to kill you in a heartbeat for the sake of my master Aric," Nona finished speaking. She flashed a smile, and a portal opened under her. She fell in and vanished.

"That was intense," Nala said.

Twilight nodded in agreement. "We should be careful," he said.
