Chapter 73: Subordinates

Aric didn’t understand why that rage for humans started rising so much. He understood that humans did some evil things to him, or so his memories said, but the anger he felt towards them was not normal—it wasn’t from him.

Aric cleared his head up and walked back to the Baron and Andre, who were bleeding from the thorn vines. He sat down in front of them, looking at both of them with an expressionless gaze.

"I have to discuss with the others about what exactly to do with you and the rest of your men. Releasing you easily is not an option because you could easily bring a mighty army here, and that’s not good for anyone.

At the same time, you are a Baron. If you go missing for far too long, your people will surely start a search for you, so there’s that as well," Aric said. He snapped his fingers, and the vines withered and fell to the ground.

"So I’ll keep you captive for a few days as we talk about it, if that’s fine," he said. He got up and walked to the door. "I advise you to try your best to stay inside the house. Anyone out there might kill you before I can stop them," Aric said and walked out.

Immediately after he left the house, he was shocked by what was going on.

He was the one who asked Ron to get the goblins working, but he didn’t think it would move so fast. Several buildings were already coming into place.

He was so distracted by the Baron and Andre that he didn’t even notice when all this was going on. He walked to the front and saw that even the farm had been extended by a lot. The goblins were still planting inside the farm, some were helping cut wood, and some were building—it was a full work site here.

Aric couldn’t help but smile. A week or so ago, he was struggling to get things in place, but now, he had a fully running system.

"Seems all the goblins decided to stay," Ariel said as she walked up from behind him.

"Yeah, Ron must have really persuaded them," Aric said.

"I’m sure it had less to do with Ron and more to do with you. They believe that what you can offer is far better than what they can get elsewhere," Ariel said.

Aric gave a smile but didn’t say anything.

"Master," Unara called out to Aric. She was coming from the direction of the farm.

"Unara, what’s the issue?" Aric asked.

"Lady Elisa said I should tell you to come help the plants grow," Unara said.

"Oh, I’ll be there in a bit," Aric said. Unara nodded and headed back.

"Your work is getting too much. I think you should start taking a more ruler-like position behind a desk. You need to build a system of operation now," Ariel said.

"Huh? I guess that’s true. How about I start by making you my personal advisor?" Aric said with a chuckle. He said it as a joke, but Ariel took it seriously.

"Good. Then since I’m your personal advisor, I suggest that you begin by setting a hierarchy. It may not look like much, but two hundred and thirty or so people is already the size of a small village.

Not everyone should have access to you, do you understand?" she asked.

"Isn’t it a bit too early to start implementing that sort of thing?" Aric asked.

"No. If you don’t start early, it will make it harder down the line. Secondly, we need a storehouse and furniture, but you can’t keep allowing the goblins to do all the work randomly. Each person should have a specific task that they’ll learn how to do properly," she said.

"Wait, wait, wait. I need to sit down to listen to all this. Maybe after I get done with the plants, then we will talk about all that, if it’s okay with you," Aric said.

"Fine, go and help Elisa. I’ll be setting up your office in the meantime," Ariel said.

"Office? Isn’t that moving a bit too fast?" he asked.

"Remember what you said before? You wanted to build an empire. You can’t slack off if you want that. I’ll help you reach that goal," Ariel said and walked away.

[You have gained first official, congratulations]

[20,000 EXP]

[Subordinate Buff: All subordinates receive +3 to all stats passively. You can increase all subordinate stats +10 actively for 20 minutes.]

[Buff will upgrade with more loyal subordinates.]

Aric was shocked when he saw the notifications. He read them, and a smile formed on his face. Maybe rushing wasn’t all that bad.

He headed over to the farm to help Elisa out. He would use his basic spell that helped plants grow to get the growth process started.

He could make all the farm grow to maturity, but that would eat all his mana, so what would make more sense would be to use it daily in small quantities.

Ariel, on the other hand, met with Ron across the stream and explained that they needed a lot of furniture for Silva’s office and some other things.

She spent enough time slowly describing how she wanted everything to look, and Ron immediately got to work, taking some of the goblins with him to start making the furniture—creating their best works yet, smooth and clean furniture.

It seemed Ron’s skills were upgrading very quickly. He was now capable of innovation, creating new ideas that he used.

After everything, Ariel got some goblins and started getting Aric’s office arranged. She placed a desk along with several bookshelves and chairs. It was basic, but it would have to do for now. She would get other things needed later.

She immediately went to get Aric. She wanted to show him the office and hear his thoughts on it. Aric was still at the farm. With his help, the plants had already reached the peak of their seedling stage.
