Chapter 49: Don’t smile again

The bathhouse was going to be a bigger issue on its own, and Aric needed to get the plan and get some things in place.

He decided he would hand over the house plans first, and then he would get into the issue of the bathhouse.

As for the farm, Aric had gained an affinity for plant magic, though he had yet to get better spells that would help him out. That was an issue he could fix immediately.

"Hey, Quadoris, can I have a word?" Aric called out. Quadoris immediately came to him, responding to the call.

"We need bricks. I don’t know how possible it is for you, but here’s what we need," Aric said and took out the plan on paper, showing it to Quadoris.

"Do you think making this will be possible?" Aric asked.

"Absolutely, there’s no doubt about that," Quadoris said eagerly.

"Great, thank you. Now come with me," Aric said and headed for the goblins. Ron and the goblins had already torn down the house quickly. They left everything they felt was essential outside and carefully tore the place down, as the materials could still be used.

"Ron," Aric called, and he came running.

"Yes, Master."

"Alright, Ron, this is the plan for the house. Now, this is something vastly more difficult and technical than what you built yesterday.

But I trust you and the goblins already have enough expertise to know what to do. I need it to be clean and very well made," Aric said and handed the plan to Ron. Ron took it, and his eyes widened in shock as he saw what they had to construct.

He now understood why Aric said it would be harder. Ron stared at the plan and details for a bit and then pointed at the bricks.

"Master, we haven’t used this particular material before. How do we get it?" Ron asked.

"It’s bricks, and Quadoris will be handling that. The way to use it is also inside the details of the plan. It requires a binding agent to work. Many people use mud and other stuff in this era, but I have something else, and that’s called quick-dry cement.

Now, all these are new concepts that will take some time to understand, so I think the best course of action is that you start studying the plan. You have limited time to get a grasp.

If you understand, it will be easy to get the others to work as well. For now, you can have them prepare the wood, and Quadoris will start making bricks.

I have to go and force Pentharis now to start making some metal materials like pans for carrying the mixed cement and some other stuff.

I don’t know how long that will take. Hopefully, it doesn’t take way too long," Aric said and walked away. Immediately after he left, Quadoris cracked his knuckles and pointed his hand to the ground.

Immediately, earth began forming and turning into smooth red blocks. Aric might have asked Quadoris to also make the cement, but cement had more to it than just earth magic.

Ron saw what Quadoris was doing, and he wasn’t going to allow himself to be shown up by the spirits.

"Alright, get to work! Everyone start prepping the logs for cutting and wait for my directive!" He barked out the order, and the goblins hopped to it.

Aric knew that he was undertaking a lot of work now. He had thought it would be easy with more people, but he had forgotten that he was developing from scratch, and that required him to build everything from scratch.

He could buy them easily, but the waste of gold would be worse than actually planning on doing it himself. He was not even building himself, yet he was already getting a little bit tired.

He spotted Pentharis in a light banter with Unara. He walked over there, grabbed Pentharis by the hair, and pulled him.

"Sorry, Unara, I’ll be needing him for a bit," Aric said.

"You are helping me by taking him away from here, Master," Unara said.

"Yeah, keep sucking up to him," Pentharis said as Aric pulled him away.

"Shut your mouth," Aric barked at him and made him shut up. After he pulled him away, Aric let go of him.

"Why are you dragging me around?" Pentharis asked.

"Because I need your help. You manipulate and create metal, right?" Aric asked.

"Yes, so?" Pentharis asked.

Aric went through the shop and saw a paper that contained the tools he wanted drawn. He immediately bought it at a very cheap 10 gold, and then he handed it to Pentharis as soon as it appeared.

"These are tools that we need for the work we are undertaking today. I forgot about getting them, and we need them urgently, so I need you to make as many as you can as fast as you can," Aric said.

Pentharis stared at the drawings. He let out a pained sigh and spoke, "I’m a spirit of metal. Making all this will be easy for me—child’s play, to be honest.

But I will not be doing it for free. I want a reward," Pentharis said.

"How about this? You don’t do it, you won’t eat, and I’ll make you serve Unara for a day," Aric said. Pentharis’ eyes widened in horror. He looked at Aric, "You monster," he said.

"Say whatever you want, but if you don’t do it, that’s what is going to happen to you," Aric said and walked away.

Pentharis watched him walk away. After Aric had gone far off, his frown vanished and turned into a smile as he immediately started crafting what was on the paper with a grin.

"You could just allow him to know you are happy, Pentharis," Hexorin said from behind Pentharis.

"Shut up, dude. If anything, you are the one that needs to start having emotions on your face," Pentharis said.

"I do have emotions. Look at my smile," Hexorin said and tried to smile. It was a crooked and twisted smile, and then it turned into a full-blown demonic smile.

Pentharis looked at him. "Don’t ever smile again."
