Chapter 44: A hug and a kiss

Aric knocked on the door, and they walked in. Elisa was seated on the bed, holding one of Aric’s clothes from the box he kept. Aric was shocked to see that, so he let out a little cough.

When she heard the cough, she turned to look at him, and then she realized he had seen her with his clothes.

"I’m so sorry, it just looked so well made I wanted to observe it closer." She gave a quick explanation. "Only nobles and the rich could have this sort of clothes, even the one you gave to me is very high quality," she said.

"I have my ways," Aric said.

"So did you need something?" she asked.

"Well, I was going to come and ask that you help me cook. Seeing you are from a noble home, I can assume you learned a thing or two along the line.

But now that I am here, I just realized that I never asked if you wanted to go home. You have stayed with us a few days, but this is not your home. Aren’t there people that you miss back there?" Aric asked.

"The only family I have there now are my brothers, and they left for the Royal Guard, and that is a lifetime commitment. I may never see them again.

The party I adventured with became my family, but now they are dead and gone. There is not much for me there anymore.

I have no one to rely on, no one to help me. I know I have overstayed my welcome. You have helped me, fed me, healed me, and protected me. There’s nothing more I could possibly ask of you," she said in a solemn tone.

"Uhm, I think you got what I asked wrong. I was not asking in order to send you away from here. If anything, I want you to stay here. It would be nice to know about the humans more and more. I’d love for you to stay.

You can make this your home and stay here. We might not be a lot, but we are happy to have you. Ariel likes you, the spirits have no issues with you, everyone accepts you here," Aric said.

Her eyes lit up as she heard what he said. "Really? You mean I can stay?" she asked to confirm.

"For as long as you like. And if one day you decide to leave and head back to meet the humans, I will never stop you," Aric said.

She leaped from her seating position and gave Aric a hug. She held him tightly. "Thank you, Aric, thank you."

Aric stood there stunned, something already rushing to his lower regions, and as fate would have it, his leather armor around that area could not exactly stop the bulge from pushing out.

Elisa felt the slight bulge. She noticed that Aric was fighting with all his strength to make sure that she didn’t feel it.

She smiled and leaned close to his ear. "No need to fight it. I could help you get it down later, but you have to be gentle. I haven’t done it before," she said and let go of him.

"Alright, let’s go and cook that food," she said and walked out. Aric stood there, shocked at what happened. He didn’t even know what to think at the moment. He stood there blank, her words repeating in his head.

Elisa went outside the house, and immediately she did, her face went full red.

"Why the hell did I say that? He is going to think I am loose and easy now," she said to herself. "No, I have to stand by what I said," she tried to give herself strength.

"What’s the issue, Elisa?" Ariel asked as she walked up to Elisa. Elisa quickly tried to make herself look normal, but Ariel had already noticed that something was wrong.

"I’m fine," Elisa said and walked away. Ariel watched her go and then opened the door. She saw Aric standing there with his face flushed red.

"What’s the issue?" she asked.

Aric turned around, and like Elisa, he tried to play it off.

"Oh, it’s nothing," he said.

"Don’t lie to me. I heard everything," Ariel said and started walking toward him while Aric backed away.

"You eavesdropped on us?" Aric asked.

"I was passing by when my ear picked it up. You of all people should know how well I can hear," Ariel said and walked closer to him.

Aric was backed up against a wall. She stood right in front of him, their faces inches apart.

"I can’t believe that Elisa beat me to you, but I won’t allow anyone to have you first, to be clear. You brought this on yourself. You called me beautiful, you admired my body, so you have to take responsibility," she said, her face getting closer as she spoke.

"I understand, but right now is not the time for—" She placed her finger on his lips and stopped him from talking. She removed her fingers and met his lips with hers.

Aric’s eyes slowly closed even as he tried to fight it. A few seconds later, her tongue slowly went into his mouth. She placed her hands behind his head and pulled him closer as they kissed, their tongues intertwined in a struggle.

Aric couldn’t control himself anymore, and his hands went around her waist, pulling her in closer to him. After a minute of intense kissing, she pulled away from him, her breaths heavy and loud.

"I’ll get to do it with you first before Elisa. Promise me that," she said. Aric’s head was clouded at this point, and he agreed to whatever she said. He nodded at her.

She smiled and turned away, walking out of the house. Aric watched her go and let out a helpless sigh. "I’m completely hopeless," he said to himself.

The kiss they just shared kept replaying in his head and making his body hot. He shook his head to get rid of the thoughts and walked out of the house as well.
