Chapter 43: Naming all the goblins

Aric was shocked when he got a level up and an upgradeable subclass. He looked at the building and discovered that, with the help of the spirits, they had been able to finish the building quicker than he expected.

"That was very fast," he said. Ariel turned around as well to see what he was talking about. She was shocked to see that the house was already done.

"I guess I heavily underestimated the strength of my new force," Aric said.

The house was made to complete perfection; it was stunning. As he admired the house, Pentharis and Quadoris walked to the camp with two hogs on their necks, one on each.

"We are back," Quadoris said. Aric looked at the massive beasts on their necks and was shocked.

"When you said hogs, I didn’t think they would be this large. Thank you for it," Aric said.

"Thank you, master. Glad we could help," Quadoris said and headed in with Pentharis.

"Alright, let’s forget about the spirit cult for a bit now, and let’s have a feast. All of you have worked really hard," Aric said and walked into the home. Ariel followed behind.

He walked to the house that they had just finished building. The goblins and the spirits stood there, already waiting for him. They wanted to get his input on what they did.

"This is shocking. I didn’t expect it to be done so soon. You all have done an amazing job. Quadoris and Pentharis are back, and so we will be having a feast to celebrate.

You guys must all be hungry, and I also want the spirits to get their first taste of food and see what it is like.

Treshan, Deca, gather some wood and make two fires. Make them as big as you think they should be. We need to get things cooking," Aric said. They both nodded and walked away to get started.

Now that he had the spirits, there were a lot of things he wouldn’t need to buy from the shop anymore, like cups and plates, pots and tools. He had Pentharis with him, who could use metal to craft anything.

As Aric thought about that, a sudden idea popped into his head. This world was one that relied more on magic and had very little science. The only thing they had that was close was sorcery.

Aric had the idea to teach the spirits and goblins about modern science from Earth. If he did that, they would be able to incorporate it into their magic and actually bring results.

He could make Pentharis capable of creating stronger metal types if he had an understanding of their structures.

He could help Unara learn to really manipulate her light to give far more stunning results. The ideas kept popping into his head one after another. He knew he would have to act on them soon.

But for now, he needed to focus on what he had to do. He looked at the spirits and spoke. "The rest of you can rest; you have done a lot for the day. As for the goblins, you all stay. I want to talk to you," Aric said. The spirits bowed and left.

"Ron, Lucas, Gunam, step forward," Aric said. The three of them came forward immediately.

"I was wrong to doubt your skills, even in the slightest. You all proved that you were capable of handling a task like that, and I am happy to see that.

But that’s not the reason I have you here. I want to ask, did the goblins who stand behind you do the work properly? Did they perform well?" Aric asked.

Ron looked at Lucas. Lucas nodded. He then looked at Gunam, and Gunam nodded.

"Yes, master. They all worked well as far as we could see. They didn’t slack or stop. They were eager to see it through to the end, and they did," Ron said.

"I see. Then will you say all twenty-three of them deserve to actually have their names now?" Aric asked.

"Yes, master. As far as work goes, they all deserve to have their names. They have our full recommendation," Ron said.

"I see. Then I will give them all their names, and you three will be responsible for the goblins and every other goblin that might come.

Their actions are all to be guided by you, and their conduct will reflect on you. I don’t wish to use my bond as your master to make you do things forcefully, and so I have given you free will. But as much as I give, I can take back as well," Aric said.

"We understand fully, master," Ron said.

"Good. Now have them come one by one. Also, please keep note of their names for me. I might not be able to remember them," Aric said. He was about to go into a full range of names that he would never remember afterward.

The goblins began coming one by one, and he started naming them: Grik, Snag, Vrik, Drox, Zog, Brak, Skrip, Nib, Thrum, Glub, Razz, Grub, Snik, Boz, Droz, Mug, Fizz, Skrun, Gnak, Quib, Throg, Vrix, Snagg.

Yes, Aric didn’t even put any effort into naming them. He just did it, naming them with whatever name came to his mouth.

When he was done naming all the goblins, he let out a sigh of relief. He originally wanted to watch them for a week and choose who to name, but after what happened with the spirit cult, he knew he had to grow as fast as he could or he would suffer for it.

Now that all that was out of the way, he checked on Decan and Treshan, and they had made the fire, burning high up.

"Alright, I’mma need a lot of hands on deck for this one. I can’t cook them alone," Aric said and thought of who to call and help him.

"Hmm, where is Elisa?" he asked. She would normally be inside the house, so he went in to get her.
