Chapter 42: The Seven Great spirits part 2

"Why would you say she was the most violent?" Aric asked.

"Remember when I said I’ll get back to why things changed? Well, something happened along the line and changed everything for the great spirits and the world at large," Ariel said.

"Alright then, I’m listening," Aric said.

"The last three great spirits that walked the planet were the Storm Spirit, Zephyrion, master of the winds, lightning, and chaos. He was the second most destructive spirit; his chaos was second only to Ignis.

The Lunar Spirit, Selene. She represented the moon, illusions, and night. The last of the spirits was the Beast Spirit, Ferox, the primal force of life, beasts, and evolution.

Those were the seven great spirits. They kept the balance of everything and ensured that all life was kept with all respect, or so the story said.

But along the line, humans somehow became the enemies of the great spirits. The great spirits resolved to wipe out humanity, but humans had spread so far that this attempt touched the other races as well.

Argir was the one at the forefront of this war. She made the oceans roar, waves bigger than had ever been seen before crashed into worlds, destroying everything they touched.

Storms and much more followed. Her anger reaped millions of lives all over the world. Of all the spirits, she caused the greatest damage.

The war was said to last for years unending. Humanity fought and fought to stop them, but they could not stop the spirits, and due to this, other races suffered dearly.

It was not until later that two divine dragons rose. It was believed that they came from the two dragon continents. I don’t know the truth of that, but that was what was said.

The two divine dragons were the rulers of the dragons in their respective continents, or so the stories say. The fire dragon came from the southern continent, and the ice dragon from the north.

Our continent was the center, the focal point of humans and their home, so it was where the great spirits focused their efforts.

When the divine dragons came, their battle with the spirits happened in the Dead Lands. The Dead Lands was once a flourishing place, but after what happened, the war’s chaos changed it.

The divine dragons could not stand against the force of the beings that controlled the flow of the world. Their strength fell short, but then the humans came to help.

The races of the great forest didn’t help in the war. They had lived alongside spirits for years, and so did the elves. This was said to be what caused the divide among races.

The divine dragons fought until they managed to subdue and seal all the spirits with the help of a special seal. No one knows it to this date, and so no one can unseal the spirits.

But the two divine dragons had been heavily injured after this, and after the battle, they left back to their continents, and no one ever heard from them since then. Dragons sealed themselves away from all things that had to do with the other continents.

They believed their actions, despite being for a good cause, were a betrayal to those that had guided their world for so long.

They felt that because of humans, they had turned against the great spirits—a sin for which they could never fulfill their penance.

And due to that, they swore to never aid humans again, as humans are an unwanted cause of conflict.

This is the reason the great spirits are feared and hated by many. The war that happened took hundreds of millions of lives across all races, all in a fight to take out humans.

But many years later, a group of people rose as the Spirit Cult—different races that came together: humans, elves, beastmen. They all forsook their humanity or their affiliation to any race and became the Spirit Cult.

A group of people dedicated to bringing back the great spirits, their belief is that the great spirits would cleanse this world of all evil.

Their beliefs are seen as evil by humans, but their beliefs are the least of what makes them extremely dangerous.

The Spirit Cult has no value for life. They forsook all that and follow someone known as their path. They believe all of them are connected to the great spirits and that their paths are given to them by the spirits.

All cultists must follow their paths or lose their souls, even if it means killing a thousand babies. It is all seen as an attempt to fulfill their path and return the great spirits," Ariel finished speaking.

"So that’s the history behind them," Aric said. He looked at the sign he drew and then looked up at her again.

"I have something I noticed about all this. It might not be very important, but humans have been the center of everything abnormal in this world.

Why is it that they don’t have true names when every being that walks this world uses true names? Why is it that the spirits attacked them? What did they do?

Many questions. There are many questions in my mind as to why humans are so dead center in every abnormal issue," Aric said. He wanted to try and figure it out, but a notification distracted him.
