Chapter 108: King earth snake

As Fey explained to Ella and the other three, the ground began trembling more than it had done before. Fey turned to Elan immediately, "Get them out of here, a king earth snake is coming," she said.

"If that’s the case, they should leave themselves, I’ll be here to support you," Elan said.

"We want to stay as well, we are sure we can help," Luke said, and the other two nodded.

"This is not somewhere to show your strength. Unlike the other earth snake, the king earth snake is evolved and possesses special abilities.

You can be caught in the battle and lose your lives if you are not careful enough," Fey explained.

"We understand, Lady Fey, but we are not weak, we are the best of our class, we can do something to help," Luke retorted.

"Well, it’s too late. It seems the monster is here," Elan said. He pulled his sword as the ground before them blasted open, and a massive titan of a snake came out.

Its black scales absorbed the light of the sun, its crimson red eyes glowed. It directed its vicious face at Fey, already locking in on her as the target.

But while it had her in its sight, Elan had already moved. He ran through the side of the mountain, moving to flank the snake.

The snake opened its mouth and a large earth spike formed and shot at Fey. She leaped off the ground cleanly and dodged the attack.

The spike hit the ground and left a crater behind, but she was already gone. Dust rose high, and the three prodigies used that as the opportunity to attack and provide help.

They all pulled their swords and charged through the dust. Fey looked down at them running, her lips curled into a smile as she understood what they were planning to do.

And their plan worked. The snake turned its attention from her to the three of them and began firing more earth spikes.

The three of them moved with flexibility. They dodged the spikes like it was a routine for a dance, their feet moving with a trained precision.

They couldn’t make progress toward the snake due to its continued barrage, but they could at least keep it busy for Fey to make her move.

Fey kicked the air and shot toward the snake. She placed her sword to her side, getting ready for a slash. Her eyes noticed the figure of Elan blitzing through the mountains, and an idea popped up in her head, one they could use to easily kill the snake.

She channeled mana through her sword and flames covered the sword, bright and brimming with heat. The flames crackled wildly, ready to consume all that was in its sight.

She moved for an obvious slash. The snake saw her, it recognized that she was a bigger threat than the three down there, and decided to take her out first.

But before it could attack, she moved. Her flames increased in size and brightness, flashing through the air and blinding the snake—and that was her plan. Her attack was a quick and flashy one; it lacked the power needed to even one-hit kill the snake, but it was bright and terrifying enough to distract.

And while the snake was trying to survive the incoming flame, it couldn’t notice the blade headed for its neck.

Elan moved through the air like an arrow, his blade covered with a powerful gust of wind magic—an attack powerful enough to cut through the neck of the snake.

The sword met with the scale of the snake, and an explosive sound echoed through the entire valley, shaking the mountains and causing rocks to roll off, tumbling down the mountains.

The attack cut the head of the king earth snake off. The massive head fell to the ground with a loud thud. The body followed after, collapsing into the ground. Elan and Fey landed on the ground after killing it.

"You have learned some new skills, it seems," Fey said.

"I could say the same about you, but the Saintess gets new skills every day," Elan said and walked past her.

Aric’s eyes fluttered open. The bright rays of the sun shined on his face through the window. He groaned as he pushed himself off the ground, his hand rubbing the back of his head as he felt a slight headache.

"Where was that place just now, and who was that goddess?" he asked.

You would think getting the opportunity to meet a being like that would give you answers to your questions, but on the contrary, he got more and more questions.

He wanted to know who exactly that goddess was and what she did for this world. He wanted to know the origins of that crest. There was a lot he wanted to know.

He got up from the ground and walked to the window. He looked outside, watching the streets of the town.

Seeing how bright it was, he figured that very little time had passed since he was within that place.

knock knock

The sound of knocking came from the door. He turned around, walking to the door. He opened it, and there stood Ariel.

"Hey, what’s up, Ariel?" he asked.

"I wanted to say it would be a good idea if we spent what’s left of the day to go around the town and see it for ourselves.

This is, after all, the first time most of us are in a human settlement," Ariel said.

"Alright, that makes sense. I’ll be down with you in a few minutes, let me just get ready," he said and closed the door.

’He was acting weird, did something happen?’ Ariel thought. ’No, maybe I’m just overthinking.’ She shook her head and went back to her own room.

Aric, on the other hand, sat on his bed, trying to clear his thoughts, but he couldn’t stop wondering what the goddess was, and if it had something to do with the other vision he saw.
