Chapter 209: She’s dead

Alina abruptly halted in front of Rhea, her hair was a mess, and her flames were extinguished. She put her hands up in surrender,"I won’t hurt you, put the ball back where you took it from, it has no use for you."

Every person has a memory ball in them, and after their death, if any of the person’s family members desire to cherish the person’s memories, they could rip it out of the person or use magic to gather it up from the dead person’s remains. Alina had gathered Enzo’s, so he could remember his memories once she brings him back to life.

Even Rhea remembered holding her mother’s memory ball untill it was taken and broken by her stepsister, Zoorah.

Rhea clutched tightly to Enzo’s memory ball, "Let me and my husband out of your spell then I will give it back to you."

Alina’s expression turned gloomy, "Even if I let you go today, you still won’t be able to live forever with him, because one day, someone else will rip out that thing from your chest. So what is the use of prolonging your own misery."

Rhea smiled bitterly, "Then I will just live my life until that day when I will be ripped open. But now and today, I want to get back home with my husband." Her hand tightened around the glowing ball and a crack was made on the fragile ball, a fine line appeared on it’s surface.

Alina’s expression immediately changed to alarm, "I will let you go!"

Rhea unflinchingly warned, "Then let us out or I will break it."

Alina dropped her gaze,"Alright," she raised her hands up in the sky and began to mumble some words Rhea couldn’t understand.

Rhea, who quietly waited for Alina to remove the spell, suddenly felt the grounds began to shake, it was followed by Draven’s warning, "Move away!"

Rhea didn’t question him and moved away, and the moment she dodged, the earth beneath where she had been standing a moment ago, opened up. If she hadn’t moved on time, she would have been swallowed into the ground.

Rhea was stunned, but when she saw the smirk on Alina’s face, she angrily slapped the memory ball onto the ground. "You asked for it!"

Alina was shocked as the ball shattered on the ground. The memory ball’s inner glow spiled out and countless images began to float out from it.

The images were unfamiliar to Rhea as she watched them, but she did recognized the woman in them.

The woman was none other than Alina with a man, who Rhea noticed was Enzo, but at the same time looked different. The man was more musclar and older than Enzo, yet they had the same face, he was standing at the altar smiling down at Alina.

These were the memories of Alina and her husband together...

The images floating out of the shattered piece of the ball, illuminated Alina’s stunned face as she watched the memories. She was immobilized as the images rotated through. Spring passed to autumn, and winter, and all of Alina’s life with Nickolas in the past was revealed. Their lovely moments; the couple were seen sitting and laughing in a boat, their background was illuminated with the golden lights of the setting sun.

Together, they were seen traveling around the cities. It showed a time when Alina was in the kitchen with Nick and they seemed to be cooking together and laughing. Nickolas seemed to love Alina a lot, and in every image, it was revealed. Everything floated by like it was yesterday.

The last image, where Alina and Nick sat under an oak tree, even carried a voice with it, it was a deep voice of a man that said, "Alina, I am a mortal while you are an immortal, I want you to promise that if I die before you, you will do everything in your power to bring me back."

"I promise, I will bring you back with everything in me. I love you."

"I love you more."

Alina’s lips trembled as the image and voice disappeared, "Enzo actually remembered all his past life memories...he clearly knew everything about our life together, but he...he lied to me. He remembered everything from the start to the end! It wasn’t a little from his dreams, it wasn’t just a few fragments, it was everything. He had every moments of us in his memories..."

Alina felt a huge blow in her heart, "He remembered it all, but in the end he still wanted the princess. He..." She fell to her knees clutching her chest, lips trembling, she bit her lips until it dripped blood.

Enzo remembered all of his past memories, however, even though he remembered, he still pursued Aurora, still hated Alina and still wasn’t willing to be with her again. This realization ripped apart the last shred of delusion she still held for her husband. It wasn’t that Enzo didn’t remember, it was that he didn’t love her anymore after his rebirth. He just became a completely different person...

He fell in love with another woman after he had once promised to love only her in every lifetime, he had even made her promise to bring him back, and she had done just that but to only be repaid with betrayal. He betrayed her after everything she had done for him...

Hot tears gathered in Alina’s eyes, the tears slowly rolled down her cheeks with a sizzling sound and burned the flesh on her cheeks. She sobbed and screamed out Nick’s name. "Why did you do this to me after all the sacrifices I have made for you!!"

With anger and hate, Alina’s gaze snapped back to Rhea. The tears burned and her red eyes made her look like a monster from the underworld. "Why did you break the ball and make me see all that?" She seethed at Rhea, "Why did you smash the ball?!"

An enormous murderous black power swelled around Alina, she used it to numb Rhea’s muscles to keep her from escaping. Rhea felt her limbs were stuck in place.

"I will kill you," Alina cried, her appearance began to change, her fingers turned into sharp long claws, her eyes turned completely black, even her lips turned dark with black veins bulging on her skin. Her appearance looked like devil from hell. She began to approach Rhea with intimidating steps.

Rhea tried to move but it was useless.

When Alina stood in front of Rhea and raised her clawed fingers to rip her chest, a sharp brittle sound came from behind. Alina’s movements paused, she looked down and saw a long ice sword pierced through her chest.

Red blood flowed out, but immediately began to freeze with her body. Before she could freeze completely, Alina glanced down at the shattered memory ball pieces. At this very last moment of her life, she had a sudden thought. Back then, perhaps if she hadn’t met Nick, if she hadn’t fallen in love with him, then she would still be Alina; the quiet, innocent woman, who rarely mingled with people, the reserved shy young lady with no desire for wealth and powers. She wouldn’t have turned out this way. But...

Looking back to the past, her happiest moments was when she was married to Nickolas, her marriage to him was the best thing in all her life.

In this life, she did so many things for Nick, she thought she did it for love, but it turns out she did it just to return to those happy moments of her life. However, in the end...in the end, the Heavens didn’t grant her the life she desired the most.

Draven, who stood behind Alina with his sword piercing her chest, pulled out the sword. Alina’s body shattered as a result, it completely became ice chunks littered on the ground.

The grounds shook and the scenery started to change. The black vapors disappeared and the spell was gone. Birhhan’s ruined capital city came back. They finally exited Alina’s spell.

And on this earth, there was no more Alina Credan. But the numbness in Rhea’s body was still there as she couldn’t believe what just happened.

Rhea didn’t move her gaze away from the chunk of ice and the shattered memory ball on the ground, until Draven walked forward and pulled her into his arms.

Feeling the warmth of her husband’s embrace, Rhea snapped back to her senses and realized everything that just happened was actually a reality.

Alina was dead and out of their lives. She could finally live in peace without the worry that someone would harm her dragon. With those thoughts, Rhea wrapped her arms around Draven’s waist, "She’s dead."

"Yes, she’s dead." Draven pressed his lips at the top of her hair, "Let’s go back home."
