Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 210: Surprise
Chapter 210: Surprise
Two months after Alina’s death, Birhhan had restored it peace, and every human knew who had been responsible for restoring their peace; the dragon, who they had once cursed and the person they had once labelled traitorous girl, who they had hated and wanted dead. Nobody expected the dragons to help them and everyone who survived the chaos were extremely grateful. Even the Emperor sent a letter to king Henry asking to restore the peace between the two worlds. But king Henry hadn’t responded yet.
Everyone in the Dragon realm were also happy to know that they no longer have to worry about the impending doom that would befall them as they knew Alina had died along with the black magic. However, what they didn’t know was that, Alina might have died, but the powers she awakened didn’t die with her.
Rhea, who had been living a more peaceful and relaxing life, couldn’t help the small voice at the back of her head that kept reminding her that the life she was living wasn’t permanent and would abruptly end someday. Everytime she had fun and got to know new things and people around the dragon realm, she felt like her life was a borrowed one, she felt like the life she was living was something that would unexpectedly end one day. And to make her troubles worst, her mind kept repeating Alina’s words.
’Even if I let you go today, you still won’t be able to live forever with him, because one day, someone else will rip out that thing from your chest. So what is the use of prolonging your own misery.’ Alina had told her.
Who else desired the core apart from Alina? Surely there was no one else, she was the only one and now she was no more. So why let herself worry for no reason? Why let herself bother that the happiness she was having now would be taken from her?
Rhea sighed as she decided not to ever feel guilty for being happy with her husband or worrying about being taken away by fate.
Currently Rhea stood in front of the floor length mirror in their walk in closet as her maids helped her into a beautiful orange gown Draven had brought for her, she didn’t know what the occasion was today, but he had asked the maids to doll her up because he had a surprise for her.
Rhea had been curious about the surprise and asked him what kind of surprise required her to get all dolled up, she even insisted he tell her about this surprise as she wasn’t a patient type and hated waiting, but her husband had smiled and pecked her lips,
"Then you have to learn to be patient, my love. It’s a surprise that needn’t be ruined by revealing it to you. I will come and get you once you are dressed up." He had told her and left the maids to do their job.
Rhea couldn’t help but wonder what this surprise could be that couldn’t be revealed. She had tried to guess, but her brain couldn’t think of anything.
As the maids fastened the strings at the back of her orange dress, Rhea admired herself in the mirror. The dress was sleeveless, with a low cut neckline that revealed the swell of her breasts, it was tight from the waist to the knees, emphasizing her slim waist, while from the knees to the hem was lush, with an elegant train behind. From the breeze that hit her back, she could tell the back was bare apart from the strings.
Her sliver hair was tied up in a loose bun with few tendrils framing her heart shaped face. On her feet, were a glass like shoes with heels that added a few inches to her height. As the maids finished fastening the strings at the back, Rhea swirled around in front of the mirror. The dress felt too little, and revealing too much skin, but yet it was too beautiful to not wear it.
"You look beautiful, lady El-Dezeus!" Exclaimed Rhea’s maid, Livia, who had also been one of the maids assigned to her when she was in the palace.
Rhea blushed, not from the compliment, but from the name Livia addressed her with. She had been married to Draven for two months now, but she still wasn’t used to that title. It always sent a surge of excitement through her veins everytime anyone called her that. Even when she attended a women’s party with Aria last week, everyone had treated her with great respect for being an El-Dezeus.
The name alone was legendary, and everyone respected it, but too bad there was only one El-Dezeus left, Draven. He had no offspring, yet. Rhea couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to bear his offspring, it would_
A knock on the door snapped her back to reality. Rhea realized the maids had even left the room, leaving her to dwell on her thoughts. She turned around as the door cracked opened revealing her handsome husband all dressed up in a formal attire.
Draven pushed open the door to the room, anticipation etched on his face. However, as his eyes fell upon his wife, adorned in the vibrant orange dress he had carefully chosen for her, time seemed to freeze. He took in every detail, from the silver strands of her hair to the depth of her black eyes that sparkled with a mixture of uncertainty and delight.
His gaze lingered on the graceful curves of her figure, accentuated by the dress. The fabric clung to her form, enhancing the swelled allure of her breasts. A subtle blush painted Rhea’s cheeks as she caught the intensity in Draven’s gaze as his eyes lingered on her chest.
"You look breathtaking," he murmured in a voice as deep and smooth as velvet. The words hung in the air, infused with a desire that went beyond mere admiration. Looking at Rhea, he had never been proud of any decision of his life like he was proud of the one he made to keep this girl by his side. She had turned from a reckless young lady, to a caring loving wife to him. He could never ask for more in life than to be happy with her forever. Those thoughts echoed in his mind as he couldn’t tear his eyes away from her, he was convinced that his wife was the most beautiful woman to grace the face of the earth.
Rhea’s blush deepened, and a shy smile played on her lips as Draven walked towards her and gently cupped her flushed cheeks. "I can’t believe how lucky I am," he confessed, his eyes reflecting the depth of his emotions.
Rhea’s heart raced, and she met his gaze with a tender smile. "And I’m even luckier to have you in my life," she replied, her words carrying a sincerity that echoed the love between them.
Her curiosity sparked again, and Rhea couldn’t help but ask, "What’s the surprise you mentioned? Are you going to give it to me now?"
A mischievous gleam danced in Draven’s blue eyes as he gently placed a finger on her lips. "Patience, my love. You’ll see it soon enough," he teased. With a graceful motion, he extended his arm, a silent invitation for her to take.
"Shall we?" Draven’s voice resonated with a quiet intensity as he led her toward the door, his thoughts consumed by the woman he deemed not just his wife but the epitome of beauty and love.
Draven led Rhea through the ornate corridors of their residence, the anticipation building in her with every step. As they approached the grand double doors of the banquet hall, Rhea couldn’t contain her curiosity any longer.
"Why are we heading to the hall?" she asked, her eyes wide with intrigue.
Draven chuckled, a warm sound that echoed through the corridor. "Patience, my love. All will be revealed soon enough."
Pouting playfully like a child, Rhea retorted, "I’m not a patient human, you know."
His laughter rang out in the hall again, and he playfully teased, "Well, my dear, you’ll have to learn patience."
The grand double doors opened automatically as they approached, revealing a darkened hall. Rhea furrowed her brows, ready to question the unusual setting, but before she could speak, the hall burst into light. A chorus of joyful voices filled the air, shouting "Happy Birthday!"
Surprise painted Rhea’s face as she scanned the room, filled with all the people she had come to know in the Dragon realm. The realization hit her—today was her birthday, but she had forgotten it because she had never once celebrated the day before. Not once had anyone thought to celebrate her birthday in the Villden mansion as it was the day her mother died and she was labeled a bad omen. But today, people were here surprising her...
So this was the big surprise her husband had been planning for her? He had done all this for her, something no one had ever done for her.
Emotion welled up within Rhea as people started to step forward to wish her one by one. The men pressed kisses onto the back of her hand, while the females hugged her before wishing her. They all presented their heartfelt gifts. Their wishes filled with genuine warmth, the princes wives embraced her before presenting their offerings. Rhea, overwhelmed with gratitude, couldn’t hold back tears.
Prince Zade and Prince Stefan’s children stepped forward, singing a sweet melody and taking turns to kiss her cheeks. Rhea turned to Draven, finding a tender smile on his face. He walked towards her, pecking her lips affectionately.
"Happy birthday, Rheanna," he whispered.
The floodgates opened, and Rhea broke into sobs, embracing Draven tightly. Through tears, she said, "Thank you...I am grateful, so grateful." She thanked him between her sobs. This was the biggest surprise of her life, it filled a void she hadn’t realized existed.
