Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 187: Taken away
Chapter 187: Taken away
Alina’s eyebrows furrowed deeply, but she continued to press the dagger into Rhea’s chest without turning around to identify the intruder. However, just as the dagger was about to pierce deeper into her chest, it was suddenly obstructed by a powerful force.
The force that interrupted Alina’s actions was a fierce surge of flame magic, propelling her away from Rhea. It was then that Rhea glimpsed the intruder at the entrance.
"Azure, why are you interfering? I finally found the girl, soon I’ll tear the core out of her, but what on earth do you think you’re doing, meddling?" Alina demanded furiously.
Azure remained silent, summoning his sword and launching an attack on Alina. Rhea couldn’t discern the details as they moved swiftly, exchanging blows. But shortly after, she felt her hands being released from the chains that bound her. Before she could react, a strong arm enveloped her body, and they swiftly departed from the dungeon.
Azure transported them away.
In the blink of an eye, Rhea found herself on a sandy island in the middle of an ocean, with waves crashing nearby. The air smelled of salt, and a gentle breeze carried the ocean scents.
Rhea quickly pushed away from Azure’s embrace and looked around the vast ocean that surrounded them. She had no idea where this was or why Azure had brought her here.
"Why did you save my life?" Rhea asked the first question that came to her mind.
"I saved you because you don’t deserve to die." He answered succinctly, his voice slightly hoarse.
Rhea coldly laughed, "Says the person who was going to whip me to death."
Azure’s gaze slightly trembled at the mention of that. He stepped forward his hand trying to reach out to Rhea, "I didn’t mean_"
Rhea quickly stepped away from him, "You didn’t mean to hurt me? Is that what you want to say?" She asked sharply, "Don’t even think I’d believe anything you tell me after what you’ve done. Why did you bring me here, did you take me away from Alina because you plan to kill me by yourself?!"
Azure looked away from the furious Rhea, he knew nothing he would say at this moment would convince her that he had no intentions of killing her. Because his actions had already broken whatever deep trust she used to have in him, before she would trust him again, it would take a lot of coaxing for her to forgive him and willingly listen to everything he had to say.
"Rhea, I want to take you back to your family. They are willing to accept you back after I explained everything to them. I have taken them away from Birhhan because of the war, they are now safe in my private mansion on an island far away from Birhhan. I will take you to them for refuge until everything settles back to normal."
Rhea didn’t know whether to laugh or cry. She had cut all ties with her family and had sworn to have nothing to do with them or Azure, but now he was here telling her that her family had forgiven her and he would take her to his private island? Was he expecting her to jump at his feet and follow him like a lost puppy?
"You must be out of your mind, Azure. I will not go anywhere with you."
Azure’s lips pressed into a line. "Rhea, don’t make this difficult for me, you are not safe here or anywhere, let me take you to my private island that is the only place you can be safe. I will explain everything to you once I get you to the..."
"No need for any explanations, like I said, I am not going anywhere with you." Rhea said firmly, "I will never leave with you. I now have a life in the Dragon realm, and I also have someone I like and care for there. I will never leave him no matter what."
When Azure heard those words, his eyes suddenly darkened slightly, but then he composed his anger and said with an authorizing tone, "You are not going back to those Dragons, and you will do as I say, Rheanna."
Rhea couldn’t help but sneer at his authorizating tone, "Arrogant! Why should I listen to you? Because you order me to?"
Azure gazed at Rhea with a pair of heavy eyes, yet around his body was his teleporting powers getting ready. Rhea saw it and knew he was planning to take her against her will.
"You are coming with me, Rhea." He reached out to grab her, but Rhea retreated backwards, and he let her dodge his hand.
However, the more she retreated, the more he advanced on her and the more she was getting closer to the vast ocean that surrounded them. There was no escape on such small island in the middle of an ocean.
Despite the panic in her heart, Rhea spoke, "I don’t want to go. I have promised to stand by Draven’s side and support him. I will not go back on my words." She stared straight at him, "I am not like you and Alina who turn their backs on the people who trust them, care for them."
Azure had once promised to protect her, and she had not just put her trust in him but had looked up to him, but in the end he turned his back on her and hurt her instead.
Azure’s complexion went pale at those words. His lips slightly trembled, "Rhea, that dragon you claim to like isn’t as good as you think. He is only keeping you around because of his core, he will rip you open and_"
"So what if he’s keeping me for the core?!" Rhea sharply cut him off, "At least Draven cared about me more than you. He hasn’t for once tried to kill me to take the core. Maybe he has hurt me in the past, but that was before. He cares about me more than anyone else!"
Rhea wouldn’t let anyone brainwash her about Draven’s motive for keeping her around. She wouldn’t. Back when king Henry asked him if he was complete, perhaps the king had asked that question because he sensed the core in her body, but Draven had told him he was complete. And when she had once asked him if he needed his core to function, he had told her he didn’t need it that it was hers now.
If there was one thing she was sure of, Draven would never rip her open and end her life.
"I am well aware of how Draven treats me, you needn’t concern yourself with my problem. You should go back to your whatever private island, but I am not going with you."
Azure gritted his teeth at her stubbornness, he advanced on her and grabbed her arm, but to his utter disbelief, Rhea clenched her fist and threw a hard punch at his face that made him quickly release her arm.
"Touch me one more time, and I swear I will punch you speechless!" She warned as she took up a fighting stance.
Azure stifled a groan as he wiped off his bleeding nose and pressed a hand at his chest.
It was then that Rhea realized his shirt was stained with blood. It seemed he was injured from his battle with Alina earlier.
"Since you are refusing to come with me willingly," he stated, "you have left me with no choice." However, before he could take any action, Rhea felt her surroundings starting to vanish, and Azure’s figure disappeared as well. Just as she was wondering what was happening, she heard a familiar voice call out in her head, "Fear not, my savior! Myself will ensure your safe return!" Lilac reassured.
In the blink of an eye, Rhea found herself in a snowy land. Everything had happened so quickly that she couldn’t believe she was back in the dragon realm, with Lilac standing before her, grinning widely. "By the fairy mother! Myself did it!" Lilac exclaimed.
Rhea was too shocked to correct Lilac’s broken speech. She looked at the girl and asked, "How did you bring me back here?"
Lilac crossed her slender arms and sighed. "Myself have become more powerful by consuming happiness. And since you is my savior, myself can enter your mind and manipulate you to go wherever myself desire," she proudly boasted. "And your last outting with Mister, he returned you in a near-death state, so myself decided to keep an eye on you. Myself has been trying to bring you back since yesterday, and I have finally succeeded now." Lilac looked up at Rhea with a grin. "Did myself do well?"
Rhea could only nod, her emotions overwhelming her. She knelt down and embraced Lilac’s tiny body. "You did amazing, Lilac. Thank you." She was incredibly grateful; if it hadn’t been for Lilac, she would have been taken by Azure and would have never see Draven again...
