Chapter 186: Ripping her open in the dungeon

After realizing that Enzo’s memories were resurfacing, Alina didn’t waste time again, she took Rhea and Enzo to her second mansion that was located in a desolate area.

Rhea, who still had her hands and legs chained, anxiously looked around the unfamiliar mansion grounds. She wasn’t foolish not to know what Alina intended to do with her, she had heard her mention exchanging something for Enzo’s memories with someone, and she was sure what Alina wanted to exchange was the core in her chest. However, Rhea wasn’t sure who she was going to make the exchange with; and that only increased her fear and anxiety.

Rhea had desperately hoped and prayed for Draven to somehow find her, but there was no sign of him or any communication through their connection, which made her heart restless.

Currently, Alina was busy giving orders to her men, with her back facing Rhea and Enzo. Taking advantage of the situation, Enzo leaned towards Rhea and whispered softly, "Did Alina really harm Draven in the past because of me?" he asked.

Rhea glanced at Alina’s back before whispering back, "She went beyond what you can imagine," she said. However, seeing Enzo’s guilty expression, she quickly added, "It wasn’t your fault. She made Draven believe that she loved him for hundred years, but on their wedding day, she stabbed him and separated him from his Dragon form. She did all of that to protect her late husband’s soul and ensure his immortality. None of this is your fault - you are not her late husband." Rhea reassured him.

But even with her reassurance, the lines on Enzo’s forehead remained tense, and his expression turned cold.

Noticing his expression, Rhea couldn’t help but ask, "Enzo, are you really Alina’s past husband? Do you have his memories?" she asked curiously.

After Enzo had mentioned having dreams about Alina and Nick, Rhea was curious to know if he was truly a reincarnation or just a lookalike. However, before Enzo could respond to her question, Alina finished giving her orders and turned around to face them.

Alina gave her servants orders to take Enzo to his room and make sure to prepare his bath and give him something to eat. And after the servants took Enzo away, she turned her attention to Rhea and ordered her men to take her to the underground dungeon.

In the dimly lit unground dungeon, the cold, damp air clung to Rhea’s skin as she was roughly dragged in by the two imposing men. The stone walls seemed to close in on her, their rough texture revealing years of forgotten torment.

The men didn’t just drag her in, they held her trembling hands aloft with rusty and unforgiving chains, her fingers slightly grazing the cold chilling surface.

Alina entered the dungeon with a sinister smile etched on her face. The torches on the walls flickered, casting shadows on her face, and revealing the malevolence in her gaze.

Although fear gripped Rhea’s heart at the thought that she would be killed by Alina in this dungeon, she still met Alina’s mocking stare with a defiant glare. "What are you planning to do to me?"

Alina’s lips curled into a smirk as she spoke, "I intend to end your life because you have committed countless unforgivable crimes. You supported that Dragon in killing my beloved uncle, and not only that, you also took the life of my niece and betrayed your own kind. Those reasons alone are enough to justify your demise. Furthermore, within your chest lies something I desire greatly, and I will tear it out before I witness your death for killing my family."

Rhea clenched her teeth in frustration and retorted, "If you hadn’t done what you did twenty years ago, Draven would still be the way he used to be. We wouldn’t have needed to kill your uncle to restore his powers, or kill your niece to obtain his scales. Everything that happened is your fault. You bear the blame for their deaths, and one thing I know for certain is that I have no regrets about killing your niece, as she deserved it, just like_"

Before Rhea could finish her words, Alina delivered a sharp slap to her cheek, the same cheek Alina had slapped earlier that morning. Rhea’s head jerked to the side forcefully, and she immediately felt as if her right cheek no longer belonged to her.

Blood trickled from the corner of her mouth, but Rhea wiped it away with her shoulder and laughed, saying, "You certainly have a penchant for slapping me, my lady. However, no matter how much you strike me, it won’t prevent me from speaking the truth."

Alina gritted her teeth and forcefully gripped Rhea’s chin, saying, "I have never despised anyone as much as I despise you, Rheanna. And don’t worry, I will take great pleasure in cutting you open. I will ensure that you suffer even more than Oriana did before her death." She paused, then smiled and remarked, "I hope you are now regretting being El-Dezeus’ soulmate." Alina continued when she saw Rhea’s surprised expression,

"You, little one, are Draven El-Dezeus’ soulmate, which is why his core selected you as its keeper twenty years ago. Even without that core within your body, you will still share a bond and connection. Fate has bound you together, but unfortunately, I will be the one to sever it, just as you have torn me away from my only family."

Alina didn’t give Rhea the chance to speak before summoning a flame dagger. And with a twisted grin, she raised the dagger to Rhea’s chest.

"Even if you take the core from me, Draven will get it back and end you!" Rhea yelled as the dagger inched to her chest.

Alina laughed, "You needn’t have to stall for time with your nonsense. And don’t expect Draven to find you anytime soon, because I have sealed away any connections you shared with him. Even if he finds you, it would be your dead body."

Rhea’s heart sank at those words. It turned out Draven wasn’t able to track her down because Alina had sealed their connection. She had been hoping he would show up just like he did in the execution hole, but he wouldn’t. She would die without saying goodbye...

Alina pressed the dagger’s tip into Rhea’s chest and, wearing a pleased smile, continued to push it further in. She found enjoyment from witnessing Rhea’s painful expression. Mocking her, Alina inquired, "Does it hurt?"

Rhea clenched her lower lip between her teeth to prevent herself from crying out or begging Alina not to end her life. She wanted to see Draven one last time. As the dagger pressed deeper into her chest, and Rhea anticipated Alina tearing her open, a loud boom at the entrance of the dungeon caused Alina to halt.
