Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 114: Dragon realm
Chapter 114: Dragon realm
Rhea gazed down at the ground below, her eyes shifting from the clouds in the horizon as they neared the snowy terrain leading to the dragon realm. Along the border of the human realm, she noticed a few leaders of the fire controllers stationed, seemingly anticipating the impending war.
Her gaze then fell upon the towering mountain that acted as a barrier between the two worlds. It was within this very mountain that Erebus had been sealed away centuries ago, the mighty dragons’ had fought a fierce battle on this mountain. As Rhea admired the majestic sight, so did Draven, though a deep frown etched itself between his brows.
The more they got closer to the mountain, the more he could sense his dragon form. On the day he retrieved his powers, Alina had told him his form lays in the middle of his worst fear, in between the two worlds. Although, she’d given him a hint, he hadn’t taken it seriously as he thought she was misleading him again, but now, he could unexpectedly sense it around here...
The dragon gracefully glided through the clouds above the human world, but Draven’s eyes fixed on a specific spot on the towering mountain. This mountain held a significant history, as it was the place where his parents had tragically lost their lives in defeating Erebus. In the center of the mountain, a visible mark remained from the defeat of Erebus.
From high above, a large black hole could be clearly seen, it looked like an endless abyss. Rhea also marveled at the sight, but Draven shifted his position, as if trying to get a better view of the hole. Curiosity getting the best of her, she couldn’t help but ask, "What’s the matter?"
A mysterious gleam appeared in Draven’s eyes as he responded, "I can sense my dragon form down there."
Rhea was taken aback, questioning, "Where?"
A slight smirk formed on the corner of Draven’s mouth as he gestured toward the colossal black hole. "It’s sealed within that."
Rhea glanced down at the hole, her confusion evident. She questioned, "Didn’t you mention that Alina hid everything she took from you behind your weakness? I don’t see any fire..."
Before Rhea could finish her sentence, she suddenly noticed a burst of flame emerging from the dark abyss. The sight left her speechless, her eyes narrowing as she noticed a pool of fiery red lava within the mountainous cavity. Gradually, the lava filled the hole, only to violently surge upwards, transforming into solid rocks upon landing outside the opening.
Within the depths of the hole, the lava continued to churn, yet after a brief period, it began to recede. As the lava cooled, the rocks along the edge of the hole radiated a deep red glow, indicating the extreme heat of the expelled lava.
Realization dawned on Rhea as she watched with slacked jaw. So it turned out the mountain between the worlds was actually a living volcano!
"Heavens, that thing looks as hot as hell..."Rhea murmured softly, she’d never thought a volcano laid in this humongous mountain.
Draven was confident that his Dragon form was sealed within that hole, but he wasn’t eager to investigate for a few reasons. First, the fire controllers were stationed around the mountain, keeping watch and preparing for the upcoming war.
Secondly, Rhea, his powerful ally, was injured. For some reasons her injuries concerned him greatly. He justified his reluctance based on these reasons, but deep down, he didn’t want to expose Rhea to further danger in her current state. She held a special place in his life, and he didn’t want to risk her safety.
Draven realized that his thoughts were wandering, and he chose not to delve into why he was starting to care so much about her these days. He pushed those thoughts aside and settled himself back onto the dragon’s back.
Rhea, who was still gazing downward, noticed that the person behind her had settled back properly. She furrowed her brow and glanced at him from the corner of her eye. "You know your dragon form is down there, but you don’t seem eager to check it out. Why?" she asked.
Draven closed his eyes and continued to savor the breeze. He nonchalantly responded, "I’m in no rush. The mountain is dangerous, it’s not safe to go there now. Besides, since the mountain isn’t far from the Dragon realm, we might encounter more dragons to assist us later on."
Rhea considered his words and nodded, settling back into her original position in front of him. However, she couldn’t help but find it strange that he wasn’t as impatient and excited as he had been when he retrieved his powers and essence. He had been so desperate back then that he had led her into the fire cave and mercilessly stabbed her. But now, after finding the most important part of himself, he seemed remarkably calm.
"You’ve changed," Rhea couldn’t help but remark. "In the past, if you discovered a part of yourself, you wouldn’t care about the danger and would go for it. But now, you seem almost unexcited and somewhat unhappy." She mumbled her thoughts.
Draven’s eyes, which had been closed, slowly opened. Did she mention being unhappy? He wasn’t unhappy at all; in fact, he was extremely excited to know where his form was sealed, he couldn’t wait to return to his original state. However, he was currently considering her condition and...
Draven made the conscious decision to stay silent and not respond to her, as he didn’t want to disclose that he wasn’t checking it out because of her.
By the time they reached the Dragon realm, it was already nighttime. Feeling the cool breeze ruffle their hairs as the dragon soared through the night sky. Nevertheless, once they entered the dragon realm, the dragon started flying at a lower altitude since they had left the human world behind.
Rhea was astonished by the sight of the dragon realm. Her eyes brightened in amusement as the landscape transformed into a mesmerizing winter wonderland.
The snow and ice below them glowed with an ethereal light, casting a soft, otherworldly glow over the entire realm. Sparkling crystals adorned the frozen trees, their icy branches reaching towards the night sky. The ground was covered in a thick layer of pristine white snow, untouched by any footprints.
Rhea’s jaw dropped in awe as she took in the breathtaking sight. The dragon realm was even more enchanting than she had imagined. The moonlight danced on the ice, creating a surreal and magical atmosphere. It was as if time had frozen in this realm, a place untouched by the chaos of the human world.
As they flew closer to the dragon city, Rhea couldn’t help but exclaim, "Wow, you have cities and buildings in your world too!"
Draven scoffed, of course they do. But then it was common for humans who ventured into the Dragon realm to be surprised, as their books depicted the dragon world as something sinister. The fire controllers had led the other humans to believe that they were mere animals and emotionless creatures.
Draven couldn’t help but smile faintly as he observed Rhea’s admiration for everything around her.
Rhea’s gaze shifted to the dragons themselves. In their human form, they dressed in a strange and distinct fashion, unlike anything she had ever seen. The dragons wore garments of vibrant colors, adorned with intricate patterns and shimmering threads. Their clothes seemed to reflect the beauty of thier world, with hues of blues, purples, and silvers.
Rhea marveled at how each dragon’s attire seemed to match their unique hairs and colorful tall buildings. Some wore flowing robes that mimicked the graceful movement of the dragons in flight.
As the dragon flew past the cities, Rhea couldn’t help but feel a sense of wonder. She was about to embark on a journey like no other, surrounded by a world of creatures she’d believed to be evil in the past.
As they drew closer to their destination, Ethan’s excitement bubbled over. "We’re here!" he exclaimed, pointing ahead with a wide grin on his face. Rhea’s eyes followed his gesture, and her breath caught in her throat at the awe-inspiring sight before them.
The dragon banked to the left, revealing the grandeur of the ice dragon palace in the distance. The palace stood tall and proud, its spires reaching toward the heavens. Its walls were made of shimmering ice, intricately carved with delicate patterns that seemed to come alive under the light of the moon. The palace was surrounded by a vast courtyard, where ice sculptures in the shapes of dragons and mythical creatures adorned the landscape.
In the vast courtyard, Rhea could see several men standing around, and when the dragon descended, it veered off course, sensing the approach of the dragon soldiers sent to escort their prince. It landed gracefully on a snowy clearing, a considerable distance away from the palace.
The dragon’s started to fog after the three climbed down from its back, then it shook its body. In a blink of an eye, it turned into the middle-aged man. He stretched his limbs and took several deep breaths before turning to the prince, "You little rascal! I am getting old and yet you made me carry three of you! My old bones are getting too old for such heavy weight!!" He scolded.
Ethan quickly bowed his head in apology before he turned back to Rhea, who was clutching tightly to Draven’s arm as if she’d be eaten if she release him. He could tell she was overwhelmed by the world. He then cleared his throat and said, "It’s snows here through out the years, if you have difficulties enduring it, then tell me, I have some medicine that can help you bear the cold."
"I...I am fine, I can handle the cold just fine." She remarked softly. However, she tightened her hold around Draven’s arm when she noticed the approaching bulky dragon soldiers.
The soldiers were clad in weird armor that looked like ice, glistening with an otherworldly blue hue. Each soldier wielded a long spear made of ice, their every movement exuding grace and power.
Rhea watched in awe as the soldiers went on one knees each and bowed to Ethan, their leader stepping forward to greet him. His armor was even more ornate than the others, "Welcome back, Your Highness!" He bowed, "His majesty sent us to escort you back."
