Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 105: Comfort

Chapter 105: Comfort

Hearing Draven’s threat, the fortune teller didn’t dare to continue speaking out of subject. He rubbed his fat sore neck and then looked up at Draven,"What exactly do you want to know? I will tell you, but once I’m done, I want you two out of my territory." He said with a tight voice, as his neck was still aching.

He had never had costumers who threatened his life before, instead, he was the one who threatened them. He glared at Draven, but then he didn’t act rashly and quietly sat on the ground to hear his questions.

Meanwhile, Rhea silently sat back on the sofa still trying to wonder what the fortune teller meant by seed of affection, and her own death caused by Draven in the future. Perhaps, the man had only said that because Draven had threatened his life?

Rhea sighed and dismissed the thoughts as she heard Draven’s deep voice as he questioned the man.

"The east dragon princess has gone missing, I want to know if she’s in Birhhan."

The fortune teller nodded his head, he brought out some cards from his pocket and swapped them on the floor before saying, "Years ago, she crossed the border and entered Birhhan, she lived among humans for a long time until she met a man and fell in love. She married him and then their story took another turn, I can’t see anymore."

Draven lightly tapped the table with his fingers, "And where is she now?" He asked.

"I don’t know, the image is not clear anymore. I can’t see anything about her again." He muttered softly.

Draven frown deepened, "Then do you know the man she married?"

The fortune teller looked away from his cards and replied, "Yes, his name is Enzo, a very delicate handsome lad. He is hard working and loves her."

Hearing his words, Rhea’s eyes slightly widened, if she could remember clearly, Enzo was the name of Alina’s lover, the same man she was doing all this for. She exchanged looks with Draven, who also seemed to understand.

In a flash, everything began to make sense to him. He closed his eyes to calm his nerves, and asked again, "You really can’t find her whereabouts?"

"Yes, I can’t." The man wiped his mouth, and burped loudly, almost sounding like a pig, he then added, clearly not embarrassed of his bad manners, "However, I know where the young lad, Enzo is. He is with Alina in some small village. And I’m guessing since I can’t see the princess’s whereabout, it only means she dead. Probably killed by Alina herself."

Draven suddenly remembered when Rhea had said she over heard about Alina speaking to Edmund about some powerful dragon they captured the day he went to first retrieve his powers. Back then, he hadn’t thought too much about it because he was only worried about retrieving his powers, but now he realized Alina had taken the princess since then.

Draven closed his eyes for a moment to calm himself down again. The more Alina continued to hurt innocent being, the more he wanted to kill her and the more helpless he became when he realized he wasn’t yet a match for her.

He resumed to question, "Did you also give this information to the young man earlier?"

The fortune teller frowned, "What young man?" He pursed his lips, "I didn’t see any young man, I’m on my day off today, and apart from you two, I didn’t attend to anyone. If that stupid storekeeper hadn’t insisted, I wouldn’t be here nor will I have this finger print on my neck now."

Draven paid no heed to the man’s complains and said, "Let me make somethings clear with you first." He stood up from the sofa. It was rare to see Draven changed from his typically indifferent demeanor, his blue eyes turned chilly as he stared down at the man, "Do you know what cause people to die earlier than the Heaven’s will?"

The man pursed his lips, "I don’t know..." He trembled slightly as he met Draven’s cold gaze.

"I thought you know it all," his gaze didn’t not waver from the trembling man, "People who know too much tend to die earlier than the Heavens will, and if you breathe a word about me to anyone else...I will serve your head to the wild wolves."

The fortune teller had always been arrogant and treated people rudely, because he believed they’d do as he said as long as they knew he had the answers. In all his entire life, nobody had ever made him feel this much frightened before. And looking into those pale blue eyes, he felt a chill down his spine, his hairs suddenly started to prickle.

"I swear I won’t breathe a word about you..." He hurriedly assured.

Draven didn’t linger in the room for another second after hearing that, he turned around and left the room without even glancing at Rhea, who stood by the side. Rhea glanced at the frightened man on the floor, before she turned around and followed Draven out of the room.

She hurried after Draven, who was walking faster than usual, out onto the street. She couldn’t almost catch up to him because of his long strides, thus she called out to him, "Draven!"

Draven immediately stopped in his tracks as he heard her call him. He stopped, but then he didn’t turn to look at her. His expression looked emotionlessly cold, his fists were tightly clenched by his sides.

Rhea now stood in front of him, remaining silent for a while. However, upon noticing his trembling clenched fists, she instinctively reached out to hold his hand. Draven looked surprised for a moment but did not withdraw his hand.

"Draven, the disappearance of the princess is not your fault. It has nothing to do with you. Alina is the one causing harm to innocent beings, not you. You..." Rhea abruptly let go of his hand, as if realizing what she was doing.

She was attempting to comfort him. It was surprising to her that she, of all people, was trying to console him and ease his self-blame. It was almost unbelievable. Nonetheless, observing his cold blue eyes soften at her words, she thought there was nothing wrong with offering him some comfort for a while.

It was normal to comfort a friend, she thought. He needed to know that Alina’s wrong doing wasn’t his fault at all.

"Don’t let it bother you, let’s go and find something to eat. I am starving! Since I have a lot of money, let’s buy things!" She exclaimed excitedly. Perhaps, if they go around the town and do some shopping, his mind would get off Alina for awhile.

With that, Rhea didn’t give him a chance to speak before she pulled him along.

In the past when Rhea had escaped from the general’s men carriage in the boarder town with no money, she set her heart and mind on ways to gain money faster to buy a house and get rich. But now that she had two pouches filled with gold coins, she had no idea what to buy or do with them. Thus, she began to buy several clothes for Draven, as he hadn’t brought any clothes with him when they were coming.

As Rhea sifted through the vibrant fabrics and fine men designs, Draven couldn’t help but notice the tender smile that graced her lips. And he realized she was actually going to buy him clothes. He was slightly stunned. Wasn’t she the one who said she would never spend on him again?

And most importantly, she had even said she’d never care about him again...

"Do you like this one?" She turned to ask him, holding up a black attire, that looked quite expensive at one glance.

She didn’t even wait for him to reply, and she picked it, "I like it, and I think it will suit you well."

With each garment she selected, Draven felt a growing sense of warmth in his heart. He realized that this simple act of choosing clothes for him was more than anything he’d ever experienced before. No one had ever done this for him before, not even when he was together with Alina. Draven’s expression softened as he watched her.

As the market bustled around him, his surroundings suddenly faded into a blur. The noise and chatter of the merchants and customers became distant echoes, and the only thing that mattered was Rhea, who was using her gold coins to buy him clothes.

Draven’s gaze lingered on her delicate features, noticing the way her eyes sparkled as she picked more clothes. It was as if the weight of her obsession with wealth had lifted, replaced by a genuine care for someone other than herself. And in that moment, he realized how much he longed to keep her safe and not...

No, he shouldn’t be thinking about this at the moment. He dismissed those thoughts immediately.

As Rhea handed him the final piece of clothing, a small blush tinged her cheeks. It was a vulnerability that Draven had never witnessed before, and it further softened his heart. He extended his hand, briefly brushing her fingers, a gentle touch. Yet, a warm tingling sensation coursed through his body, causing him to quickly withdraw his hand.
