Chapter 281: Expel?
Chapter 281: Chapter 281: Expel?
"We believe in truth!" one girl said loudly.
"Yeah, and we hate liars who use their connections just to win a crown!" another shouted.
One by one, they started mocking Aurora.
"It’s just a silly title, why go so far?"
"She probably cried to the principal or something."
"So shameless."
"Can’t believe she even showed up!"
Aurora just stood there, smiling. Calm and steady.
"Keep that attitude till the end," she said softly.
"We always keep this attitude!" one of the girls shot back. "Because we’re Diana’s friends. She’s always been a truth queen!"
Aurora nodded. "Then I’d love to see how these warriors of truth react... once they know the whole truth."
She turned and looked at Spencer. He nodded back.
People in the crowd whispered again.
"What’s going on?"
"Why did she look at Spencer?"
"Wait, is something else about to happen?"
Diana’s face twitched. Something felt off. Her heart thumped in her chest. She stood up and called out,
"There’s no need to prove anything! The result is right there! Just let her go."
Her friends caught on quickly.
They started clapping and smiling.
"Wow, Diana, you’re so kind!"
"Even after what Aurora did, you’re letting her go!"
"Take the hint, Aurora. Just leave."
"If I were you, I’d have died of embarrassment already. Tsk."
Aurora didn’t move. She kept that same calm smile.
"I’m not going anywhere," she said. "After all, if the truth hasn’t been proven yet, how can I leave?"
Diana’s eyes narrowed. She clapped her hands loudly and yelled,
"Security! Please escort this cheater out! I don’t want to see a fake queen anymore."
Two security guards began walking toward Aurora.
But before they could get close, Spencer stepped in front of her.
He smiled, cool and calm. "Whoa, what’s the rush? Diana, you’re acting like you’re trying to hide something."
The crowd gasped again.
Diana froze for a second, then quickly covered it with a cold laugh.
"I’m not hiding anything," she said. "I just don’t want to see a disgusting face like hers."
She grabbed her phone and held it up.
"In fact, I’m going to call the school board right now. Aurora should be expelled for trying to bribe the system!"
Aurora nodded slowly. "You’re right. Whoever bribed the school authorities should be expelled."
The crowd grew even more confused.
"Why is Aurora agreeing?"
"Is she confessing... or is there more to this?"
Aurora turned to the host and asked calmly,
"Who was the first winner? Before any changes?"
The host gulped and said quietly, "It was... Aurora."
"Then why is Diana’s name on the paper?" she asked.
The host looked at Diana, nervous. Everyone saw it.
Aurora smiled. "So, it’s clear. Diana used her connections to change the result."
Diana quickly tried to recover. She smirked and pointed at Spencer.
"If that’s true, then how did my parents suddenly change their minds and let you win? That doesn’t even make sense. Spencer probably used his connections to help you. Maybe you were never the winner. Maybe I was, and you cheated your way in."
People in the crowd gasped. Some nodded. It was starting to look confusing again.
But Aurora didn’t panic. She just smiled even more.
"Diana, you could say that... if I didn’t have your voice recorded."
Diana’s smirk disappeared.
"What are you talking about?" she asked, her voice sharp.
Aurora took out her phone.
She hit play.
Diana’s voice filled the gym. Loud and clear.
"I don’t want that bitch Aurora to win the competition. Let me win this one using connections. I’ll win the other ones myself. No big deal. Just make it happen. I don’t care how."
The gym fell completely silent.
Then...
Boom.
Whispers exploded. People gasped. Eyes widened. Some mouths hung open in shock.
"That’s... her voice!"
"She did cheat!"
"Oh my gosh..."
"I can’t believe it!"
"And she was blaming Aurora this whole time?"
Diana’s face turned pale. Her legs almost gave out.
She looked around, panicked, her confident smile gone. "That’s fake! That’s fabricated!"
But no one believed her anymore. People were whispering and shaking their heads. Some students even gave her weird looks, like she had lost her mind.
"Why is she still yelling?"
"Just stop already..."
"This is getting embarrassing."
Diana saw the way people were staring. Her chest felt tight, like she had been dropped in a freezing cold ice cellar. Her face turned pale. Her hands clenched into fists as she turned sharply toward Aurora.
"You’ll pay for this," she hissed. "Just wait."
Then she turned and stormed out of the gym, her heels clicking hard against the floor as she disappeared through the doors.
Aurora just chuckled softly, completely calm. She turned to look at Diana’s group of friends, who were now slowly trying to sneak away toward the side of the gym.
She raised her voice just enough for them to hear.
"Wait a second. Weren’t you all the ones who said cheaters should be expelled?" she asked sweetly.
The girls froze. One of them turned around with a nervous laugh.
"We were misled! We didn’t know Diana was lying!"
"Yeah, we’d never try to go against you, Aurora!" another added quickly.
"We don’t have any grudge with you! Honestly, we respect you!"
They all started smiling awkwardly, trying to act friendly.
Aurora gave a small, fake smile.
"Well, since you’re all so righteous," she said calmly, "then going to detention for your behavior shouldn’t be a problem, right?"
The girls blinked. They gulped. One of them gave a weak chuckle.
"Y-Yeah, right... detention..."
Without waiting for Aurora to say anything else, they nodded quickly and slipped out of the gym one by one like scared mice.
Aurora didn’t even glance at them again. She didn’t take them seriously.
To her, it was just a school competition. Even if Diana had won, it wasn’t a big deal. But the way Diana had acted, so smug, so fake, Aurora had to teach her a lesson.
And besides... she wasn’t the kind of person to give up something that should belong to her.
