Chapter 891: 205 Unscrupulous Father

"I’m here first and foremost to relay a message from Lady Helen," the Green Party Blade Saint Xi’er said with a hint of discomfort at the new reality of the Feilengcui Lord becoming the Shaman of Divine Songs, resulting in a minor slip of the tongue. "This evening, the Royal Palace is hosting a court ball in honor of Lady Helen, and to alleviate any concerns you might have, she specifically requested the emperor to let us inform Lord Richard... um... Your Highness."

"To be invited by His Majesty to attend the court ball is Helen’s good fortune," Liu Zhenhan scoffed dismissively, his insincerity clear to anyone with half a brain. "I’m already aware of this, thank you for coming, gentlemen. It’s late, so I won’t see you out."

"Wait a moment, respected Your Highness, our Green Party has another matter we wish to trouble Lord Richard with," Green Party officer Xi’er said, fixing his intense gaze on the Shaman of Divine Songs. "Regarding Owen and Morphy, and of course, Hargreaves and Barosh, who are far away in Feilengcui—I’ve long heard that last year during the desert campaign, they were seen on the front lines. I’ve also learned through other channels that they are now following Lord Richard. I had planned to visit Feilengcui eventually because those four are members of our Green Party. I hope they can end their nomadic life soon and return to the large family of our Green Party to fulfill their most exalted racial duty—marriage and procreation..."

"Mind your words, Sir," Liu Zhenhan retorted with a cold smirk. "The four Mantis Monks are not wandering; they’re following the kingdom’s most distinguished priestess. Your statement seems to bear a hint of contempt for divine authority."

"Your Highness, the population of the Green Party is on the brink of extinction, and we desperately hope that every eligible Green Party male will take on the important mission of continuing the lineage. If everyone did as Owen and the others, wouldn’t the last of the Bug Clan Beamon simply vanish into the wind? I believe even the merciful God of War would not wish to see this," Xi’er said, undeterred by the accusation of disrespecting divine authority. Instead, he made a passionate case that seemed to weigh heavily on Owen and Morphy’s conscience.

"Chide Maria—Lord Xi’er, these are your words, but Lord Richard is the envoy of the gods. Maybe the God of War really does agree with you," O’Neal retorted, neck stiffening with obstinacy.

"Is that so?" Xi’er gave O’Neal a frigid stare. Unfazed, O’Neal rolled his eyes, displaying an air of unconcern.

"I’m sorry, Lord Xi’er, but these followers of the Green Party under my command have already converted to the teachings of the Ascetic Monks, which include a vow of celibacy. I’m afraid I can’t help you with your request to have them go back and start families," Liu Zhenhan said, shrugging helplessly.

What a joke! The Feilengcui’s four Mantis Monks had been following old Liu through life and death ever since they started in Feilengcui. How could they just be taken away with a few words? Besides, the Green Party had a cursed tradition—on the wedding night, the bride would bite off the groom’s entire head to ensure her direct lineage prevailed. Liu Zhenhan wholeheartedly supported their continuance but sending them back to their deaths was something else altogether. Even if the monks were willing, Liu Zhenhan himself wasn’t. The Andulan elders had cultivated them for ten years, and finding four such outstanding monks again would be impossible.

"Your Highness, you are a clergyman yourself. Aren’t you concerned that Owen and Morphy have abandoned the embrace of the God of War? Such traitors should rightly be dealt with by us!" Xi’er, the Green Party Blade Saint, had latched onto a point of contention. Though the Bimon Kingdom was not as strict about religious matters as humans, for a Beamon not to follow Shaman beliefs and instead convert to those of Ascetic Monks, if pursued, could be extrapolated into an issue that might trouble the Religious Tribunal—though no priest would truly fuss over whether their followers included an extra monk or human Priest, preferring that a hundredfold over a Witch Doctor.

"Mr. Xi’er, your incessant chatter makes me wonder if you belong to the long-lost Newcastle Magpie clan rather than the Green Party. Indeed, as you said, converting to the teachings of the Ascetic Monks is against our traditions, but..." Liu Zhenhan pointed to his nose, "... do you see who I am? I am a Shaman of Divine Songs! And our Beamon, along with the Bimon Temple, have always acknowledged that this world isn’t exclusive to a single deity. We simply believe that the God of War Kampas is the highest of all gods! So, as the supreme god, wouldn’t there be a few lesser deities following him, performing various tasks? As the appointed spokesperson for the God of War, I can now incorporate and absorb monks into the Bimon Temple as one of us, bestowing upon them the formerly special medical ’Witch Doctor Priest’ role from the Summer Palace of the God of War. Wouldn’t that resolve their identity?"

"And what if I still intend to take them with me?" Xi’er, the Green Party Blade Saint, unable to out-argue the newly inaugurated Shaman of Divine Songs, resorted to a more direct approach, his gaze chilling.
