Chapter 890: Chapter 204 News of the Imperial Guard_3

Noble titles are but calling cards of identity, while heroes are monuments in history, a truth proven once on Mount Tamerlarya when subduing the mammoth tribe and proven yet again today.

"Good evening, my children," Shaman Liu said, nodding to the shamans around him, as he removed his porcupine skin crown and handed it to a maid who approached him.

"Your Eminence, although it may be presumptuous, it is still an honor to see you once more," came uneven voices, trembling with excitement, resounding intermittently around Shaman Liu.

"Tomorrow is the grand ritual celebration, and in my personal capacity I invite you all to a cup of malt wine each; drink it early and go to sleep," said the newly promoted Shaman of Divine Songs, his face alight with the compassion of a saint, "My children, as good as malt wine is, do not succumb to gluttony, facing the first challenge of your lives is the proper way."

"Your generosity could illuminate midnight’s endlessness," trembled the voices of most shamans even more intensely. The shaman’s staunch adherence to doctrine made these novices feel utterly ashamed—if only they knew this Piegel was a bottomless wine barrel, they might not think so.

O’Neal and Fat Luo waved frantically when they saw their boss return. The four Palace Guards who were originally with their backs to Shaman Liu also turned their heads, fixing their cold and focused gazes on the Shaman of Divine Songs pretending to be mysterious.

"Good evening to you, gentlemen," Shaman Liu said, his right hand at his chest in an elegant nod to the four Palace Guards. Seeing a shaman of such standing greet them, the Palace Guards remained stoic and greeted Shaman Liu with a polite nod, a gesture of acknowledgment.

Just one glance was enough for Shaman Liu to surmise a thing or two.

The four Palace Guards were all Green Faction Mantid Blade Saints around thirty years old, each dapper in tailored military dress uniforms, adorned with ceremonial swords. The fierce scars on each of their faces spoke of their experience in battle, and the floating blue ostrich plumes on their military caps further proved this point, as it meant each of them was a "Troll Hunter."

"Boss, these four guys insisted on taking Owen and Morphy!" Fat Luo sneered at the Green Faction officers with a hint of schadenfreude, and the words of the Mammoth Knife Saint confirmed Shaman Liu’s earlier speculation.

"Honored Richard, your return is most timely," a Mantid Blade Saint with an eyepatch over his left eye stepped forward to introduce himself to Shaman Liu, "I am Hilier, Chief Instructor of Swordsmanship for the Kingdom’s Imperial Guard. These three Green Faction officers are like me, from the Inner Court."

"How may I assist you, Lord Hilier?" Shaman Liu asked knowingly while feigning ignorance at this one-eyed Mantis Blade Saint. This Hilier, the only one among the four Green Faction Imperial Guard officers without any trace of a Serrated Broadsword on his arms and no ceremonial sword at his waist but a standard Cavalry Knife on each side, was a natural bone-arm knife wielder able to shed his blade—an indication of the most excellent Blade Saints among the Green Faction. Considering that Officer Hilier claimed to be the Chief Instructor of Swordsmanship for the Kingdom’s Imperial Guard, he probably wasn’t anywhere as frivolous as Shaman Liu’s self-proclaimed title of Divine Song.
