Chapter 605: Chapter 128 - Mystery of the Blood Case_3
Guoguo found a yellow feather from somewhere and stuck it in her hair, shaking her bottom as she walked. The feather emitted faint but vibrant Elemental Fluctuation which even the Fairy Dragon had to exert some effort to sense.
"Fire Phoenix!" Daisy and Ruona exclaimed almost simultaneously.
Gortani’s face turned unpleasantly dim at these words, Moer and Ning Yu exchanging looks.
"Perhaps we were mistaken, it might not necessarily be a phoenix feather." Daisy quickly amended her statement in a delicate manner.
"Yes, after all, the Underground World is home to a multitude of Fire Element magical beasts, it could belong to other flying beasts." Helen added.
Gortani’s face darkened further.
Liu Zhenhan had Moer cast a Chain Lightning spell on the three-headed hound from Hell and then stored the beast in the Space Ring. Having such a ring, he wasn’t going to let go of this treasure-covered Super-level Warcraft.
Seeing Gortani still startled, Liu went over to pat her shoulder. Gortani just offered a forced smile with a mix of complex emotions in her eyes.
"Let’s move on," Lui Zhenhan said, hugging Gortani lightly. The sight distracted the nuns to one side, thinking this demon was up to something new and they fixated on Liu’s eyes.
Seeing her stare get awkward, Liu reluctantly released the little swan.
Upon exiting the Mountain cave was a vast plain with soft volcanic ash underfoot. Sparse plants lay flat on the ground, huddled in the dim light. Tireless mountains and small hills stretched in the distance, with lava rivers flowing from afar, faint firelight illuminating the vicinity in a twisting red hue. The air was warm and dry.
Here, visibility was dim and couldn’t stretch very far. Most could only make out about 20 to 30 yards ahead, even with the help of the Night Pearls. Beyond that, everything was shadowy and unclear.
Fueled by a sense of novelty, everyone refused to re-enter the Space Ring, else they not fully experience the surroundings. Laughing it off, Liu thought, the Multi-footed Giant Horse and carriage weren’t exactly slow. They would quickly find out any wanted information as soon as they encountered any native dweller.
The group randomly selected a direction and journeyed for an entire day before finding a river next to an underground forest. The trees here were much taller than those seen above ground, with sparse leaves and mostly bare trunks. They had extensive root systems, some of which even arched above the ground like giant earthworms.
The underground river was no different from a surface one, with crystal-clear water. They even caught many shiny, eyeless silverfish in it, that tasted incredibly fresh and delicious.
Finding a river was good news. Following the water upstream would lead to inhabited tribes and cities. This discovery lifted everyone’s spirits.
The Nun was the most curious of the lot, she had not imagined that this underground world, often demeaned by the Holy Vatican as Hell, was actually quite peaceful and harmonious.
After two days of trekking upstream, apart from encountering several piping hot fountains, they also discovered several staircases leading down. Flaming fireball shot from the staircases. Although the flames posed no threat they were somewhat scary. After due consideration, Liu decided against the idea of proceeding downwards and continued to follow the river upstream.
The journey never felt dull or tedious as the abundance of unknown animals and plants kept everyone excited.
When the river took its seventh turn, Liu spotted a short hill ahead with a house-sized floating object in the sky above it. The float was made of a kind of black stone. A large number of noisy, glowing golden crows were gathered on and inside the floating hill’s many caves, their feathers shining brightly.
Riding the Multi-footed Giant Horse towards it, Liu gave the floating hill, surrounded by countless illuminated crows, a resounding name, the "Sun of the Underground." After hearing Master Puskas describe the history of the floating mountain, Liu had become particularly interested in this phenomenon. As Master Saint Chiao predicted, the Fairy Dragons had a slight understanding of the origin of the floating hill. After witnessing the "Sun of the Underground," they discussed it and concluded that the floating hill was a kind of magnet. Suspended in the air due to its repulsion from the magnetic field of the earth’s core, it achieved a miraculous balance between its weight and the repelling force, making its case different from the floating mountain.
