Chapter 364: Chapter 78: The Bloody Sanggan River_4
Seven hundred cavalrymen, a few hundred yards from the river’s surface, on this fatal escape route, more than two hundred of them vanished forever in the depths of the water. The riverine warriors, seeming clumsy and weighty on land, moved fluidly underwater, imprinting a nightmare on the mercenaries’ minds for a lifetime.
Rangers and light cavalrymen managed to land on the river mud only after teetering on the verge of life and death. Many, unable to bear the overwhelming mental torment, vomited violently, clutching their throats.
Was the land safe?
Mockingly, the riverine warriors rushed ashore, invading the horde of cavalrymen who just thought they had survived another ordeal. As with Piegel consumed by the flames, these riverine warriors carried out a grouped, desperate charge. They were taller than any cavalrymen, their gigantic axes easily hacked through warhorses. The relieved rangers and light cavalrymen weren’t prepared for such a drastic turn, those far enough ran screaming, those too close could only watch the axe swing, finding peace in the end.
Chaos prevailed again.
In just one wave of attack, the riverine warriors opened a death passage on the mud with chunks of flesh and blood, courtesy of their big axes. A stopover baptism left at least dozens of poor souls behind in this foreign land.
By the time the eight woolly rhinoceroses and the furious female leader led her bodyguards over for support, only mutilated bodies and blood were left on the river bank.
The riverine warriors had slipped away, the river proving to be their best hiding place.
Although not many followers of the two mages were left, they charged forward in true knight spirit to support these scared-to-death, unfortunate souls. These followers of the mages radiated a spectrum of Dou Qi lights from their powerful bodies. Regrettably, Dou Qi couldn’t help them chase underwater, forcing them to frustration.
Facing the vast river, a group of them stood powerless. Apart from a few thieves who released crossbow bolts everywhere to vent their rage, the others could only express their indignation through words. After waiting in vain, they had to return ashore disgruntled.
With a "plop", the sound of water fluttering announced the reappearance of the riverine warriors. All the warriors braced themselves for a fight, just to face a massive rain of axes confronting their valorous knights of Dou Qi.
One could imagine what it would be like - twenty-some hundred-pound steel wheel axes, thrown under the enormous strength of the riverine warriors who regularly practiced wood pushing up to five tons.
In the dazzling exchange of power, the splendid Dou Qi lights, along with their masters, were collectively knocked down by these sudden flying axes onto the mud. Not only that, the rotating massive axes left a neatly cleaved path behind, warhorses cut into halves, their blood splattering all over like a sudden shower. The reeds by the river trembled in the rain. How absurdly familiar it felt.
The momentum of the massive axes, which finally dug deep into the river bank, made the ground shake.
The riverine warriors vanished quickly into the river, as if they had never appeared.
The two mages nearly fainted in the distance.
These Beamon bastards even kept their weaponry for killing! They staged another ambush! Terrified, the cavalrymen and rangers whipped their horses and fled onto the river bank.
Even knowing that those Beamon riverine warriors had lost their weapons, no one dared to stand there any longer.
This unconventional fighting style, again, reduced their intelligence to a mess.
The mercenaries who had fallen off the rafts were finally able to walk ashore safely after the riverine warriors ceased their hunt. Miraculously, even the heavily armored Giant Scythe-Hand soldiers managed to get ashore.
At the spot where the rafts had initially overturned, mere eighty yards from the shore, these heavy Scythe-wielders had held their breath, edged under the water, and reached the shore against odds.
Staring at this testicle-like formation, Scythe-Hand soldiers retched a few mouthfuls of turbid water and started roaring in rage.
Water cascaded down from the gaps in their armors, these Heavy Scythe-wielders had a near-crazy look in their eyes.
Fairy Dragon, Daisy, knew that this small mistake was possibly the only fault she could find in this battle, which disappointed her, given her usual pursuit of perfection.
