Chapter 1187: Chapter 320 Fawkes Mulan Commander_2
"What’s there to fear! The Forbidden Magic Barrier is still up! And we still have over a hundred and fifty priests!" Liu Zhenhan turned around to look at the Bimon warriors inside the city, gripping their makeshift clubs and sticks while grinning. Right now, the half-finished gun-sticks and shields were part of the equipment meant for the two thousand soldiers of the Cambridge Mixed Brigade. Together with four hundred ten-meter-long logs and the captured bronze swords, they had barely managed to arm the over five thousand people they had at hand. This type of material, impervious to both water and fire, and incredibly tough, couldn’t be cut through with a single blow from a Mulanese precious sword, and it was no different from an iron rod. It was so much better than the wax poles Liu Zhenhan used to fight with in the past. Inhaling the pervasive rich scent of this wood, Liu Zhenhan felt intoxicated.
Nedved was even more over the top, instructing O’Neal to release the dozens of giant cacti from his Space Ring. Along with the three hundred plus Hose archers, they were up there swinging their mercury flexible swords, cutting off spines that were over a meter long. Beneath their feet, feathers were strewn all over, clearly freshly removed from the shafts of their previous arrows. Needless to say, they were making their own arrow shafts.
"Should we have our air force quickly retreat outside to get into formation since the enemy’s air cavalry has taken off?" Rovi, a lupine man, asked as he peered through the bronze observation machine, scanning the battlefield.
"Magnetic Storm Magic Lamps don’t fall under Elemental Power; it’s purely physical friction, so this Forbidden Magic Domain can’t do anything about them. Quickly lead our air force to withdraw outside of Magnetic City and get into formation!" Liu Zhenhan patted Duncan on the shoulder, "Once you’ve dealt with their air force, come back immediately to switch to the melon bombs!"
The Antelope Warrior nodded, blew a whistle, and commanded his companions to call down the flying giant beast that rested on Magnetic Mountain. They swiftly and orderly took off and flew to the other side of the mountain to get armed.
The young Elf Prince, riding on a unicorn, flew up into the sky alongside Moer for surveillance. The flight of the unicorn was extraordinary; it ran about in the air as though the intangible and elusive atmosphere were a plush, flat meadow, allowing it to gallop to its heart’s content. Watching this, Old Liu grew envious—the mounts and magical creatures of Jose’s siblings were exceptional, clearly more for collection than practical battle.
Mulan’s Vulture Air Force ultimately only cruised far above in the sky. As the endless stream of troops crossed the drawbridge and continuously entered the rocky desert area, they trailed far behind. Maybe they knew that their few numbers would be no match for the Bimon air force’s Mirror Cannons—one cannon per person—so they simply gave up.
Liu Zhenhan dearly hoped that these Mulanese would quickly gather in formation. The dual-powered melon bombs were prone to lose their cover if used for long-range raids, but if dropped at close range among the dense formations of the Mulanese, the effect would undoubtedly be excellent.
It wasn’t until dark that the Mulanese steadily advanced to five miles outside the ruins of the ancient city and encamped endlessly in front of them.
From the City Wall of the ancient ruins, the approaching sixty thousand strong Mulanese army was a sight of clanging armor, camel cries, and blaring horns, presenting an imposing presence. Countless beautiful army banners proudly fluttered in the desert breeze, and columns of light camel cavalry brazenly passed two or three hundred yards in front of the ancient city. The fierce Knights didn’t carry any weapons, merely swinging their powerful fists, issuing a provocative cry of "Di—Lolo," their reckless laughter carried by the west wind from afar.
An enormous statue with a human head and ant body now blocked the city gate of the ancient ruins. The Mulanese had ample reason to be brazen.
Prince Kahn and Liu Zhenhan exchanged a smile; Staff General Ping Tuo had guessed correctly—these Mulanese really weren’t afraid of ants. Now the enemy outnumbered the Bimons by ten times. This game had some play to it.
Subsequently, in front of the two Bimon dignitaries, the Mulanese army vividly demonstrated what a high-level encampment looked like. Tall crane hooks were erected, and huge tents sprang up like mushrooms after rain, decorating the vast expanse of the desert wilderness, their skill and speed eliciting endless praise from the two Bimon dignitaries.
The flying beasts of the Flin Air Force couldn’t maintain such a long wait in the air and flew back to rest at the ancient city ruins.
Xiang Pa stealthily hid in a cloud, secretly surveying this blood-stained battlefield. Countless campfires resembled fallen stars, forming a dazzling and continuous band of light when viewed from the ancient city.
"Boss, do we need to switch to melon bombs now?" Duncan walked up to the City Wall and addressed the Overlord.
"No! I need their dense formation! A formation where people are squeezed against each other! It’s too dispersed now!" Liu Zhenhan shook his head, rejecting the proposal: "By the way, Duncan, now that we’re so close to the enemy, you shouldn’t take to the sky again. Next time I give the order, you just carry the melon bombs and rush from inside the city to bombard them!"
"Your Majesty, what are ’melon bombs’?" Prince Kahn asked, curiosity evident in his voice.
"They are melons that produce oil," Liu Zhenhan replied, leaving His Highness puzzled.
A Camel Cavalry squad carrying a white flag dashed out from the Mulanese camp, bearing bright torches and quickly galloping towards the ancient city, stopping three hundred yards away.
"Your Majesty, shall I shoot them down?" The young Elf Prince squeezed to Liu Zhenhan’s side, "My magic bow ’Kiss of Eruni’ has a range of up to one thousand five hundred yards!"
"They’re unarmed; there’s no need for that." Liu Zhenhan waved his hand: "Young Prince, there’s an old Bimon saying, ’In battle, do not kill the envoys.’ True Bimon warriors with the confidence of victory will never stoop to killing a few unarmed messengers."
