Chapter 1150: Chapter 308 Immortal Fruit
The old scoundrel was meticulously vetted, and the Bimon command had also passed the final review of the military meeting.
After a detailed study of topographical maps gathered by the scouts, the entire Bimon command decided to stick with the original plan and engage the enemy in a frontal battle the next day, aiming to crush the Mulanese in one fell swoop!
Although the Mulanese military had twice the number of soldiers compared to the Bimon Expeditionary Army, the Bimon regular army had never lost to an enemy that was double its size in a frontal battlefield. The command had even made a rough estimate of the number of casualties they expected to incur, confident that as long as the losses remained below ten thousand, capturing the "Kalimantan City" would certainly not be a pipe dream!
After resting for one night, the Bimon Expeditionary Army proudly traversed the Redstone Canyon chanting bellowing war songs, marching with heads held high into the rock desert area facing the ancient city ruins.
The chill wind swept across, and a sky full of flags fluttered and waved. Bimon warriors gathered on the ground into a massive flood, methodically advancing in orderly formations; Griffin sky cavalry, Biao warriors, and Newton airmen periodically swept over the canyon, bringing gusts of wind, combing through the surrounding areas like a comb, descending to scrutinize every suspicious spot—while Bimon warriors were indeed brave, it didn’t mean they were fools. Although Prince Kahn had already sent scouts to survey the entire region time and again, out of caution, Prince Lionheart still issued orders for a meticulous aerial search.
As a legion-level commander, Prince Kahn was acutely aware of the responsibilities on his shoulders. The essence of leading troops lay in being careful and cautious. Even in seemingly clear situations, he maintained composure because in warfare, as in chess, things could quickly change, and the tide of victory could easily shift.
After the Southern Star campaign, nearly all human military academies on the Pan Continent had included Prince Kahn’s commanding of the last battle and King Sal of Bimon’s strategy of using others to eliminate his enemy as classic case studies. It was rare yet inevitable that two renowned generals who preferred a cautious approach emerged from the Rhine Tribe Lionmen, known for their bravery on the Aegean Continent—indicating that Bimon, too, was capable of learning and progressing!
Now, on the expedition to Mulan, Prince Lionheart burned with the desire to prove his command artistry once more. The blood of Rhine warriors surged with the genes of war, and only the true descendants of Ares were worthy of the medals that proved their valor.
Like a tidal flood, Wolf Cavalry surged onto the barren and arid surface of the rock desert. This area was a preposterously vast forest of cacti, with one every two or three hundred meters, stretching northward from the southern end for approximately dozens of miles, naturally ending ten miles north of the Redstone Canyon exit. The desertified surface prevented these vigorously growing plants from spreading any further.
The Wolf Riders, like mercury spilling across the ground, scattered agile and nimble figures throughout the expansive rock desert.
The ground was covered in a thick layer of sand and gravel, dazzlingly reflective under the sunlight, resembling congealed salt crystals. The Wolf Riders hailed from the saline-alkali forest of the southeastern province, an environment strongly resembling their homeland in the Wolf Territory. After a swift search, the Riders, from a disordered array, rapidly reformed into a neat squadron. The search was indeed futile; the area had already been checked by sky cavalry nearly ten times. To imagine an army could stage an ambush in such open terrain was simply unrealistic.
Stepping out of the Redstone Canyon, more and more Bimon soldiers became captivated by the colossal cactus forest here. While cacti also exist in the Wolf Territory of the southeastern province of the Bimon Kingdom, the Iron-Skin Cacti of the Florento saline-alkali forest paled in size to the cacti of this rock desert—each Giant Cactus here stood fifteen meters tall, covered in frighteningly long thorns. From a distance, each cactus looked like a splayed hand, aptly living up to the name "cactus." Such peculiar shapes were unseen in the Bimon Kingdom, where cacti generally grew in abstract forms.
Liu Shock brought a large group along, laughing merrily in front of a Giant Cactus. The Hippopotamus Bard O’Neal claimed this cactus resembled a beautiful woman, which drew a crowd to gaze upward.
It did resemble one—the cactus hadn’t grown into the typical five-fingered shape but was rather a striking, curvaceous human figure. Although covered in rigid thorns, it possessed distinct limbs and features. The closer they looked, the more lifelike it seemed, prompting a bunch of idle folks to appraise and discuss for quite some time. The young Elf prince Mari even jumped and danced around in delight.
"If the fiery red flowers of this Cactus Nymph were ribbon-shaped on her head, it would be absolutely perfect! Now, this naked nymph lacks hair!" O’Neal, with the Bard’s craving for perfection, lamented while shaking his head.
"Truly impressive! Never seen a plant look so erotic!" Bellamy whistled raucously, feeling the cactus’s spines and found them as hard as millennia-old roots.
"Cut it down! Take it home to brag about! Who knows, it might even be worth a trade with the Shepherd-tree People’s Cruyff for some ’Spring of Elements’!" Liu Shock, the more he looked, the fonder he became. He had once traded desert melons for treasures with the Shepherd-tree People; this time, surely, there would be something to gain.
