Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich -
Chapter 97: Trust!
Chapter 97: Trust!
Noah had already anticipated this would happen, especially after what he had said to Victor White the previous day.
That’s why he’d spent the entire day making Jason drive all over the city, sending Victor a message loud and clear: ’I’m out. I’m exposed. And I’m only with Jason.’
It was bait, and Victor took it.
Jason could feel his blood beginning to pump faster. Despite the looming danger, he felt a flicker of excitement.
This was the first time he’d be taking real action alongside Noah, and something about that sent adrenaline surging through his veins.
"So what now, Noah? Lure them into a secluded spot and annihilate them all?" he asked eagerly.
But Noah shook his head.
"Nope. Let them corner and capture us."
"WHAT?" Jason blurted out, snapping his head toward him in disbelief. "You want them to capture you?"
Noah chuckled and corrected him with a smirk. "No. To capture us—"
Jason gasped, momentarily speechless.
But only for a few seconds.
"You got to be kidding, right, Noah? How could you just let them capture us?"
Noah didn’t answer.
Jason pressed on, "If you’re worried about not being able to beat them all, don’t worry. I can handle them myself. I mean..."
He paused, glancing into the rearview mirror at the vehicle tailing them, his brow furrowing as if doing mental math.
"Well, just a rough estimate, but there are probably fewer than two dozen gangsters following us. I can take them all. Maybe not once. But every one of them will meet their demise."
He quickly glanced back at Noah.
Seeing him frown in disbelief, Jason added with a grin, "What? You don’t think I can handle them?"
Noah exhaled deeply and looked straight ahead.
"I believe you can, Jason. But those guys aren’t my target. I don’t waste my energy, and my people’s energy, on just anyone." His voice was calm but firm. "We will spend it on my target. And my target is the one who sent them."
"Ah, I see. You mean Victor White. So just knock on his door and deal with him directly, right?"
A dry chuckle slipped from Noah’s lips. "You really don’t know who Victor White is, do you?"
Jason raised an eyebrow.
"He’s the leader of the BRG. The Black Roses Gang," Noah said, his voice low and serious.
Jason’s jaw dropped. He’d heard whispers about the underground criminal networks in the city, but this was a revelation. He’d never known who led them.
Noah continued, his eyes glancing again at the rearview mirror.
"I plan to expose him to the public. Just sending him to prison isn’t enough. I want to make him a public enemy, to completely destroy his reputation so that he can never return to society again."
Silence enveloped the car. Though neither spoke, Jason could feel the intense tension hanging in the air.
He still couldn’t fully grasp Noah’s plan, especially the part where he was willingly risking his life just to expose Victor White.
But then again, Noah wasn’t the same man he had met the first time. He had changed drastically over time.
Not just in status, becoming one of the wealthiest young men in the country, but physically as well. His presence, his aura, even his power and agility... they were all astronomically different now. Exponentially better.
So many strange things had been happening around Noah lately. Jason had tried to ask Noah for answers. But every time, Noah responded with nothing more than cryptic words or vague reassurances.
It was just like when he tried asking Matthew. He simply told him the same thing every time: "Trust Noah. Whatever he does."
And now, even with doubt creeping in his mind and unease twisting in his heart, Jason knew he had no choice. He had to trust him.
Then...
Suddenly, a truck appeared, blocking the road just a few meters ahead at a T-junction.
"Slow down, Jason..." Noah instructed calmly.
"Damn these people. They seriously plan to catch you? And they’re using such a lame trick? Childish..." Jason muttered with a smirk, though a flicker of concern crossed his face. "How do you know about their plan, Noah?"
"I just know," Noah replied casually, eyes fixed on the rearview mirror. He saw the three cars that had been tailing them come to a stop behind.
"Get ready. The bad guys are coming to catch us..." Noah said coolly as he unbuckled his seatbelt.
"Noah, what if they hurt you? Or even kill you right away?" Jason asked, turning off the engine and preparing to get out.
"I will know beforehand. And you know those guys won’t stand a chance," Noah replied, opening his door.
"Now, you need to act clueless, Jason. Make it look like we’re caught off guard," he added with a low chuckle before stepping out of the car.
"That’s gonna be tough. But you got it, boss."
And then came Jason’s annoyed voice, loud and clear.
"Oi! What the hell is this? Why’s that truck blocking the road? I need to call the police..." he shouted, glaring at the truck, ignoring the group of men exiting the rear car and approaching them.
With just a glance, Jason could see they were armed—and it only thrilled him more.
He casually walked toward Noah and froze for a second, speechless.
Instead of being afraid, Noah was calmly leaning against the car, lighting a cigarette as if nothing in the world could shake him.
Jason gave a faint smile and pulled out his phone, pretending to dial the police.
But before he could press a button, a gruff voice shouted from the car behind them.
"Hey, you! Don’t even think about calling the cops, or I’ll send you straight to your funeral!"
Both Jason and Noah turned their heads toward the voice.
The man who stepped out was as intimidating as he was ugly... bald, with greasy skin and tattoos crawling up his neck like vines. He held a gun, clearly meant to intimidate or worse.
’Noah, what should I do next?’
Jason asked through their mental link, his eyes locked on the man and the four other thugs trailing behind him, each one just as rough-looking.
’Keep acting. But don’t provoke them,’ Noah replied calmly, flicking away the remainder of his cigarette.
