Chapter 96: Kicking Ass!

Arriving at his presidential suite at the Royal Phoenix Hotel, Noah wasn’t the least bit surprised to find Jason already waiting for him, practically buzzing with curiosity and barely concealed worry.

"Noah... how’d things go at Emma’s place?"

Jason stood from his seat, a sly smile tugging at his lips and a mischievous glint lighting up his eyes.

Noah rolled his eyes, immediately catching on to where this was going. Without offering a word, he brushed past Jason, made his way to the seating area, and slumped down into the comforting couch.

He let his head fall back, eyes fixed on the ceiling, his body heavy with exhaustion. All he wanted now was sleep.

Jason, however, wasn’t about to give up so easily. He sat again in his seat and continued to ask, "Is she okay? I mean... You know what I’m trying to ask, man..."

His voice dripped with suspicion, making it impossible for Noah to ignore him any longer.

Noah cracked one eye open and gave him a flat look.

"Seriously? If you’re imagining some romantic drama went down between Emma and me at her place, drop it. Nothing serious happened. You’re overthinking, as usual."

Jason grinned, undeterred.

After checking on his father at the hospital, Jason had texted, offering to meet him at Emma’s or head back to the hotel. Noah told him to go to the hotel.

But when Jason arrived at the hotel, he found the room empty. And Noah didn’t arrive until nearly nine. Of course, his imagination had clearly gone wild.

In his mind, two adults, one quiet apartment, a little lingering tension... It had to mean something romantic, right?

Thinking that they both really become a couple makes him happy.

"Come on, man. You don’t have to be shy with me! I mean, really... no one would believe it. You two, alone in her place till nightfall, and nothing happened? Sounds pretty unbelievable, even for you."

Noah let out a long, deep sigh. He shook his head again, muttering, "You seriously need a hobby, Jason Sullivan..."

Look how genuine Noah is. Jason frowned.

"Seriously? Nothing happened?" His tone carried a clear note of disappointment.

Noah slowly rose from his seat, stretching his arms overhead, trying to ease the tightness coiled in his muscles. He didn’t respond right away.

Then, his following words made Jason sit upright, startled.

"Go to sleep, man... Rest well. We’re going to need all the energy we can get tomorrow because we’ll be kicking some serious ass; those lowly gangs won’t know what hit them..." Noah said, his voice calm but filled with something darker. He didn’t even turn to look at Jason.

Jason jumped to his feet, concern flashing in his eyes.

"Noah, are you causing trouble again without informing me?" Jason’s voice grew more tense, anxious that Noah might act without his knowledge.

But then, something clicked in Jason’s mind. His brows pulled together as a realization struck.

"Wait... Man, do you mean... Victor White’s people? You wanted to fight them?"

"You’ll see tomorrow, man..." Noah replied coolly as he headed into the main bedroom, leaving Jason standing there, anxious, confused, and increasingly worried.

However,

The next day, after breakfast at the hotel, Noah asked Jason to prepare the car.

They drove around without any clear destination, as if Noah simply wanted to enjoy the ride. They only stopped occasionally for lunch, coffee, and even a bit of shopping for Alicia.

Everything seemed normal and calm. But for Jason, it’s like the calm before the storm.

And as night crept in, Jason couldn’t hold back any longer.

"Didn’t you say we were going to use more of our brawn than brain? I mean... we will use our muscles’ powers to teach some lowly gangsters a lesson, right?"

Noah chuckled quietly, offering no honest answer. He leaned back in his seat, looking completely relaxed.

"Just keep driving, Jason," Noah said, "head toward the outskirts, away from downtown."

Jason sighed and obeyed. But it didn’t take long, and a knot of tension was forming in his stomach. Something didn’t seem right.

Then he noticed it.

In the rearview mirror, three cars. All too familiar.

They weren’t just fellow drivers heading the same way; they were tailing them. And they were good.

Whoever these people were, they knew how to tail a car without drawing attention to themselves. They kept just enough distance to avoid suspicion, and it almost worked.

Almost.

Jason’s eyes narrowed. He recognized one of the cars; he’d seen it two hours earlier when they stopped for their second coffee.

He gripped the wheel a little tighter. ’Have they been following us this whole time?’

His gaze flicked to Noah, who looked completely at ease, eyes closed, head resting against the window as if he were asleep.

’Did Noah even notice it?’ Jason wondered, tension flickering in his mind. But knowing Noah, he probably did. He just hadn’t said anything yet.

A few minutes passed quickly, and the cars continued to tail them. But these weren’t amateurs. The vehicles took turns shadowing them, switching positions in a calculated pattern—just enough to avoid drawing suspicion.

’Such pros...’ Jason muttered inwardly.

Finally, unable to keep it to himself, he glanced at Noah and asked in a low, calm voice.

"Noah, the car behind us... are they friends or those gangsters?"

Noah opened his eyes at last and sat up straight. He turned to Jason with a faint smirk.

"Oh, you noticed them already?"

Jason scoffed quietly at Noah’s casual tone.

’Of course, he knew. He’d just been waiting to see how long I would notice it...’ Jason was silently talking to himself. Still, he had to admit, Noah’s composure impressed him.

"Yeah, just a few minutes ago..." Jason chuckled dryly. "Who are they?"

"Victor White’s henchmen," Noah replied calmly.

Jason’s eyes widened.

"What the hell? That bastard really has no options left now. Is he seriously trying to force you into helping that snob of a son, Ryan White?"

"It seems so..." Noah muttered, casting a quick glance in the rearview mirror.
