Chapter 185: Yuna

Chapter 185: Yuna

"Hm...how should I put it? There is a baby involved. Do you understand?" Oliver inquired.

"A baby?" Yuna didn’t connect the dots yet.

"A pregnancy. Does that ring a bell?"

His next question caught Yuna off guard, and she almost lost her grip on her phone.

"How are you involved?" She asked.

Yuna had heard from her brother about the unfortunate incident. The party involved, Kim Jiah, was her niece.

"Arin Thorne is my brother," Oliver stated. "We are at East High School compound, and your family members seem to be waiting outside to rough up my brother."

"Wait a minute! Why is he your brother?" Yuna asked, exasperated.

"Well, I would have to ask my parents about that. But I don’t think even they would have a proper answer." Oliver scratched his head, answering thoughtfully.

"So, can we meet now? I would love it if the situation doesn’t get out of hand." Oliver added.

"Wait a minute, I’ll come over."

"Thank you. You are a lifesaver." Oliver smiled and spoke on the phone.

And he didn’t mean the life of his brother or his own.

—-

Thirty minutes later, a car slowly parked near the school entrance.

Oliver saw the sleek black sedan pulling up from the building. Once he saw Yuna’s spectacular figure, wearing her signature pantsuit, coming out, he brought his brother and the bully duo along to the ground floor.

Up until now, they had not understood what was happening. Therefore, they silently followed Oliver.

When they reached the School gate, Oliver saw Yuna standing in front of a bunch of youngsters, scolding them.

’Hm?! Their family doesn’t seem to be involved. It must have been the frustrated youngsters who beat them up.’ Oliver thought.

The group he called youngsters made up a bunch of men, older than the current Oliver. They are in their late teens to early twenties.

Yuna was in her mid-twenties. Seeing her scold the youngsters, grabbing onto the oldest one’s ear was a sight to behold.

"Little aunt, did we do anything wrong. Why are you doing this to us?" The young man, whose ear was being tightly pinched by Yuna, asked.

"You three idiots... What are you doing here? Do you think Dragon City has no laws or rules? Do you want to die?"

Yuna said, pinching his ear harder.

The young man grimaced.

"Ah..." The words he was about to say choked in his throat.

"Miss Yuna, it’s nice meeting you again." Oliver strolled to them and said.

Seeing Arin, Stephen and Victor, who were standing behind him, the three youngsters near Yuna glared. Their eyes were spitting fire.

If gaze could kill, Oliver and Arin would have died a thousand times over.

Watching their furious expression with a hint of amusement, Oliver smiled brightly. His smile was somewhat off-putting, yet pleasant to look at.

They didn’t know what he meant by it.

So, by default, they thought it was some kind of provocation.

The youngsters channelled mana, creating an imposing aura field around them, sharpening their glare.

Oliver chilled under their aura. But Arin and the duo behind him felt their heart skip a beat.

Last time, the trio had beaten them to a pulp. Just remembering it awakened the trauma.

Before the situation could deteriorate, Yuna stepped forward and smacked the head of three youngsters.

"Sorry about that, Oliver, they didn’t mean it. Don’t take offence at their transgression."

Yuna apologised.

"None taken. I can understand how frustrated they are. After all, none of us wanted this situation." Oliver openly said.

Yuna breathed a sigh, hearing that.

Just a few minutes ago, while she was travelling to school, she had looked into all the information they had on Oliver. Immediately, she knew he was not someone they could offend.

For some reason, the Thunder Emperor had taken him as his disciple and recommended him to the Hero Academy. Besides that, he held a fifty per cent share of a newly formed company called WorldNet.

If everything said in the documents she read is right, Oliver was about to become an untouchable entity in Dragon City.

Ignoring everything else, if she just thought about his strength and potential, she believed he could rank at the top in the country.

He could become an S-ranker in the future.

Offending someone like that does not bode well for anyone.

"Little aunt, why are you apologising to that little kid. He is a nobody. Let me beat some sense into him." The oldest one rolled up his sleeves while speaking.

Instead of a reply, he received another knock on his head.

"Don’t mind him. He didn’t mean it." Yuna explained, hastily.

Oliver just nodded.

"I called you here because I want to meet your family. Can you arrange that? I wish to discuss the future of our families." Oliver added shortly after.

His voice was calm and composed, drawing everyone’s attention to what he was saying.

"When should we arrange the meeting?"

"How about today? Let me come with you and meet the elders. There is no point in delaying the inevitable."

"Hm... Shouldn’t we call your family?"

"No need for that." Oliver glanced at his brother. "I am enough to represent my family." He glanced back at Yuna. "And I want to know the stance of your family before involving my family."

"Are you sure?"

"Yes."

A young person, just eighteen years of age, is going to discuss an important family issue. Yuna was a little nervous.

Her family was a strict orthodox one that gave unwarranted levels of importance to honour and face.

She knew the meeting wouldn’t be pleasant.

Her older brother, Kim Jiah’s father, was also someone who fell into this group of orthodoxical mad men. She could see the situation worsening.

Oliver read her expression and saw through it.

"I suppose you don’t want me to go alone to meet the elders."

"Hm."

Yuna nodded.

"I should bring someone of stature from my side, right?"

She nodded again.

"Okay, let me call someone."

Oliver walked off to the side and dialled a number. He talked for a few seconds and returned.

"Okay, it’s done. Let’s go to your house. Thunder Gramps said he will come."

Everyone except Oliver and Yuna wondered who the Thunder Gramps was.

Meanwhile, Yuna swallowed hard, realising he was talking about the one and only Thunder Emperor, the guardian of Dragon City.

Arin and the rest went home.

Oliver sat along with Yuna in the back seat of the black sedan as they quickly moved through the inner city.

The Kim family’s house was near the inner city, on an isolated mountain.

There was not just a house in the mountains, but hundreds.

They were a regional powerhouse with ties to everyone and everything in the city. And they were also one of the shareholders of Nova Rift– the strongest guild of the Federation.

Their family compound and houses were as grand as you expect.

As the car drove to the mountain, Oliver asked.

"Did you recruit Leon into Nova Rift?"

"Not yet. He seems to lack an interest in joining our guild after what happened at the hospital." Yuna shook her head, her soft, short hair slipping to the front, covering her face.

She gently swiped her hand to move it away.

Yuna was a beauty. Sitting alone with her reminded Oliver of this fact.

As someone with a sensitive nose, he could smell the scent of the shower gel she used.

’If I marry her, would I become the uncle of my brother?’

Randomly, a thought popped up in his mind.

From what he heard from Yuna, Kim Jiah was her niece. So, technically, it was possible.

’Revenge against my younger brother, who became my older brother, is being his uncle.’ He thought casually.

Suddenly, Oliver paused.

Cancelling his thoughts, he looked to the side.

His mind was wandering into unintended places. He controlled it and frowned.

’Kim Yuna, for god’s sake, is an empath. She can sense feelings.’

Oliver squinted his eyes.

’Did she read me?’ Oliver wondered and scrutinised her.

Immediately, he saw her freeze.

When Oliver relaxed, taking his eyes off her, she relaxed as well. When he released a hint of killing intent, she gulped in panic and turned to look outside.

’Fuck, it leaked. She read me.’

Oliver was someone who rarely made mistakes like that. Due to their amiable relationship, he had let down his guard for a while, allowing her to intrude on his feelings.

Oliver quickly composed himself and returned to the topic.

"It was your mistake, bringing a contract like that to sign an A-grade talent," Oliver stated.

"Hm." Yuna hummed in affirmation. "It indeed was our fault." She took the criticism and composed herself.

"How is your work in Nova Rift going?"

"Fine as usual."

"I heard there is a new demon detection technique. Have you talked with the military to incorporate it into your guild?"

The question from Oliver took Yuna by surprise.

"We are conducting tests..." she replied vaguely.

As a Nova Rift employee, she couldn’t go into detail.

"That’s good. If you let demons fester inside, Nova Rift would implode. It’s a matter of time."

"You seem concerned? Do you want to join our guild?"

Yuna had tried to invite Oliver in past. But he rejected.

At that time, she thought there would come a time when he would regret it.

But who knew he would become the disciple of the Thunder Emperor after a short while?

Now, she regretted her decision not to try other methods of recruiting him to the guild.

"No, never. Nova Rift is not for me. Didn’t I tell you about my guild? I want to invite you to join me when your guild implodes." Oliver said with his signature sly smile.

The smile was neither unpleasant nor unsettling. And yet, it made Yuna’s heart skip a beat.

She quickly turned to look outside at the lush greenery of the mountain.
