Chapter 70: Dinner With The Werelions {1}

"Yes I do, but not until you," he said softly as his eyes connected to mine and I seemed to get drowned in his hazel ones, my eyes descend to his lips and I thought back to the steamy session we had, I blushed so hard as I leveled my gaze ahead, that was when I realized we were at the door, and judging from the faint noise coming from there, that was definitely the dining room.

I noticed some sort of design embedded against the white door, the same matching color with the door, but I could make it out, it looked like the symbol of the bracelet Dace always wore, right now on the door, it really looked like a logo, maybe it was.

I think my heart momentarily stopped when the door spread open and I was greeted with a luxurious fancy dining hall.

I look so fucking underdressed, my eyes darted to Dace in just his sweatpants and shirt, thank God he wore that, or else I would have dashed out from not fitting, I hated that, when I didn’t fit in his world, It was something I have just come to realize now, how heart-wrenching it was... but it was the truth.

"Is that our visitor?" at the baritone voice that sent shivers down my spine I locked gaze with dark hazel eyes and I seemed to freeze at his deadpanned looks, aside from that it was like I was gazing upon the older version of Dace, he was so freaking handsome that it scared me, was he really a dad of two? Set that aside, his mom was as breathtaking as ever even though she wasn’t in fancy attire at the moment.

Both of them were in casual clothes but yet it screams expensive. The turtle-neck black sweater that Dace’s dad had on looked really good on him.

"Ahem!" that seemed to block me out of my head and the realization dawned on me, just how long was I staring? Fuck I think I blew it. My face heated up in embarrassment.

"Please seat so that we can have dinner, Emma"

My body tensed when he said my name, I felt Dace’s hand at the small of my back and I seemed to be relieved but I was still up on my toes to the reality of dining with werelions, my aunt was definitely gonna lose her mind this time or worse.

Dace helped me to my seat and adjusted it when I sat before taking a seat beside me.

Dace’s dad sat at the foot of the table like the dominating leader he was, on his high fancy chair, slightly covered in fur. His wife sat at his right-hand side and Emilia sat facing us.

I focused my vision on the empty shiny plates before me, feeling more nervous than ever, but knowing Dace was beside me, I felt at ease but I tensed when he spoke again, breaking the cold silence that suddenly filled the dining hall.

"So this is the human..." he spoke. "Emma"

My eyes darted to him and I seemed afraid to meet his eyes but yet I did.

"You have a..." he paused as his eyebrow shifted like he was trying to see through me but couldn’t, could he read minds like Emilia?

"...a very alluring scent"

"See I told you" Emilia spoke with a smirk against her lips.

"Everyone says that" I spoke under my breath forgetting I was in the presence of enhanced hearing people.

"Hmm... have you thought about why that is?" he asked me and I gulped.

"We’re here for dinner dad, not talks," Dace said, and I finally felt his presence, whenever his dad spoke it felt like it was just him and me, his presence was so powerful that you hardly noticed anyone.

"Of course but there isn’t much of dinner without talks" he flicked his fingers and I heard the door and servants came filling the table with... well cuisine made of meat? It looked so appetizing with the way it was garnished with all the flavors but the main course was MEAT.

"Wine miss?" the manservant asked me, dressed formally like we were in some sort of restaurant.

"Just get her water," Dace said to him and he gave a curt bow, I darted my eyes to Dace and he raised an eyebrow. Hello... of course I would love to have some wine.

"No" he spoke in a low tone with a warning look, I may be 16 or more... 17 in a few months’ time, I should taste wine.

"If she wants to have it then she can... stop treating her like a child, Dace" his mom spoke and her voice was just as melodious as when I first met her in the school hospital.

"T-Thank you, Mrs. Devereaux," I said with a faint smile.

"I must admit it nice to see you again Emma, in such..." her eyes darted to Dace. "...Circumstances’’

Yeah, it really was!

"So both of you are dating," she remarks, bringing the wine glass to her lips. And I blushed.

"An interesting theory," Dace’s dad said. "You see young one, you know we do not see humans in such... regards"

"I’m aware"

"And you’re the first to dine with us"

"A-And I’m honored"

A smile crossed his lips but I couldn’t tell if it was pleasant or not, it was really hard to decipher his looks.

"May I know your last name?"

"Ad-"

"Food is running cold" Dace spoke before me.

"Much delicious with the talks" Emilia mused her lips on her fork.

"Elias, Don’t make the girl tenser than she already is, she’s shaking from across the table" Dace’s mom spoke.

They could tell?

"Is that so" he mused, turning his eyes back at me and I felt like I was caged.

Dace’s hand settled on my lap and I eased a little but the red flag was still drawn.

"Emma... your relationship with my son is not something that happens" he began and all sounds of the forks or spoon touching the plates ceased and the air grew cold.

"Because I’m human"

"Yes... and" his eyes darted to Dace and a moment there I felt like they were speaking with their eyes. "Dace has not told you, has he?"

"Dad"

I noticed Dace’s muscles flexed.

Tell me what?
