Chapter 69: Dinner?

EMMA

~

I groaned, smuggling more against my pillow. It was softer than mine back home, I just wanna lay here for as long as I could. It made my dream so pleasant. But the constant ringing of my phone couldn’t let me enjoy this peace. The familiar tone I have known for months and was ignorant to change, I could hear the music within my head and it just won’t stop.

Fed up and with my eyes still shut tight, I tapped my way to the nightstand, hoping I would find my phone or my glasses. I first found my phone, and just with my fingerprint, I heard my aunt’s voice.

"Emma... I have been calling and calling, I thought I told you to be close to your phone at all times"

"You have?" I groaned still trying to catch the first thing she said to me, it was really hard to keep up with her ranting like that, in panic.

"Why does your voice sound like that, are you okay?"

I rubbed my eyes. "I’m fine, okay. I... slept after hours of studying"

"Emma, you can’t just let your guard down and just sleep"

"Really Vanessa"

She sighs.

"I’m fine okay, I will call you back, just relax please, I told you I’m safe with Dace"

"Make sure you call me and answer on time next time I call"

"Okay"

She ends the call and I proceed to rub my eyes again, tapping against the nightstand hoping I would find my glasses and I did. I yawned while putting them on.

"I’m surprised your loving aunt let you come here"

I gasped, sitting up with a start and holding onto the covers tightly. "E-Emilia?"

She smirks, waving her fingers at me. She almost gave me a heart attack by sneaking up on me like that, and she didn’t seem to give a fuck.

"W-What are you- Where’s Dace?"

"Oh relax, don’t tell me you’re afraid of me"

"Not exactly... just not" I shrugged.

"Just not what?"

"Comfortable around you, you aren’t exactly welcoming"

"Splendid Emma, I might just like you now" she mused before raising a small package bag. Due to how transparent it was, I saw the lace panties inside, I couldn’t help the deep blush that spread across my face.

"I noticed, you’re missing something"

Okay, now she was just making me feel worse and super embarrassed right now, did Dace tell her? Or did she just find out herself, knowing Emilia I was certain she did?

"Blame my brother for being super horny"

I blushed deeply, quickly yanking it away from her hand, because it was still on display and I heard someone coming up.

Luckily it was Dace, but it still didn’t reduce the awkward situation right now.

"She can’t go to dinner missing a fabric, you should have told me, you’re lucky I noticed"

"What dinner?" my eyes went back and forth between the two.

"Leave," Dace said in a slow tone, giving her an ardent glare.

She just rolled her eyes walking away. Those two really do NOT get along, it was like fire and fuel mixed together and ready to explode, whenever they were in the same room.

The moment Dace’s eyes met mine, I quickly hid the lace, I was still blushing so hard and prayed he didn’t see which was super stupid of me as if he haven’t seen the one I wore before, where is it exactly?

"I’m sorry about that, she must have read my mind..." he paused.

He didn’t have to say the rest, I understood quite well.

"It’s okay," I murmured. "What does she mean by dinner?"

I noticed his jaw tightened. "My parent... are back"

My eyes widened gawking at him like I heard wrong.

"And they want you at Dinner"

"O-O-Oh"

"Yes"

I gulped, okay that was something unplanned, and judging from Dace’s looks he didn’t like the idea. And I wasn’t so sure of how to act or think, for my brain waves were seriously storming with several questions and I couldn’t be more nervous, there was only one slamming question in my brain.

"W-W-Will they l-like me?"

A chuckle left Dace’s lips.

"W-What?"

"Is that really what you should be worried about right now?"

I shrugged. "Will they eat me?"

A laugh broke off him again, and it sounded so wonderful but that didn’t stop my cheeks from overheating.

"Fuck no Emma" he sauntered to me. "Just..." he paused before taking a seat on the bed. "... seeing my parents isn’t exactly a good idea"

"Your mom was nice," I said in a ragged whisper.

He shook his head. "But not my dad"

I paled, I had a feeling I should expect anything.

"Get ready"

~

I think I was more scared and nervous than I have ever been, I couldn’t stop my heart from beating as I walked down the stairs, and I almost tripped in the process.

"Hey" Dace’s arms were firm like steel around my waist. "Emma," He began in a serious tone. "I could take you home"

"Why do I get the feeling your dad doesn’t take no for an answer" it was a hunch and it seemed like I was right with Dace’s deadpanned look. I gulped.

"I was hoping I was wrong there"

"Hey, stop shaking"

"Shouldn’t I? I don’t know I’m about to see the leader of the pack"

He gave me a look.

"Werelions are almost like wolves so I did a little research"

"You curious girl" he seemed amazed now. "Too curious," he mused.

I blushed. "Y-You know I don’t like being in the dark"

"I know. Trust me it will be fine... let’s hope my dad sees humans in a new light because of you", we began descending the stairs.

"You hated humans before" It wasn’t a question but a fact. I knew that to be true because I have gotten the hint several times, Vanessa said so too.

"Yes I do, but not until you,"
