Chapter 334: The Library Of The Firsts

OWEN

~

Ever since Emma resumed night school, she’s been very distant, keeping to herself and mostly talking with Grayson, she definitely found comfort in him more than me and I didn’t like it, I promised myself I would always be there for her no matter what but she wasn’t giving me much of a chance to prove myself to her, and it hurts.

Something was wrong and I knew it, even if she didn’t tell me, I could read it all over her face. It definitely has to do with Dace, that damn werelion, there was always something going on with him. We haven’t seen much of the werelions ever since, they were probably throwing one of those classy parties, there was a rumor going around about it, about a gathering of them, and I wonder why. But we don’t meddle with their affairs the same way they don’t meddle with ours.

At least we respect each other in that aspect.

I was still caught up in trying to find a way to break Emma and Dace’s bond, in all my searches it turned up nothing and I was getting aggravated every second, the sooner the better, the sooner I have to keep Emma safe away from their claws.

But what were the odds of finally finding what I have searched months for? My dad spent years searching for this place and yet here it was. And I just knew Emma would be the one to find it, this was a dream come true. But I need to gather myself and act just as surprised as they were, I can’t let them know that I know what this place is at just a glimpse, this was the library left by the firsts and without a doubt, ancient grimoires are in here as well as every curse and spell to everything, our own library didn’t even compare to it.

I even heard that a powerful warlock in ancient times... who was said to be a god by the ’Magnus’, his grimoire was most likely here too.

"Shouldn’t we like to tell the professors what we found?" Grayson said looking around the long dark lobby we walked through, lit by torches, yeah like those ancient ones, but why was it lit up? Judging from how it looked, it has been burning for a long time. Was someone here before?

"This place..."

Emma’s trembling voice got to us and we both turned our attention to her. To be honest, she seemed like the one leading us through this lobby and it got me puzzled.

"I feel like I have been here before," she says, feeling her hands against the wall like she was trying to get a connection with it or some sort of familiarity, her fingers sliding through as she leads us towards a turning.

"Emma stay close," Grayson said snappily and we both increased our footsteps to meet up with her.

She has been here before? But how? The library was highly packed with people daily, surely she must have been caught when going through a secret entrance on a daily basis.

"Emma" I called as we made the turn and I became tongue-tied at the view that lay before us.

"What the hell?" Grayson exclaimed. "You mean this place has been under the school the whole time?"

I was just as shocked, who knew what I had been searching for was right beneath us the whole time?

"This is the Library of the Firsts"

The space was wide like a hall, with shelves at both sides and Lit torches like a long line at both sides of the wall giving it a bright view, just at the end at the center where a mixed-colored window was but with no view of the outside, instead, it had the triquetra symbol, boldly, and just right at the front of it down below was a big globe. Right at the very center of this hall was a wide table with books scattered on it and scrolls opened.

Someone was definitely here.

"Oh my god," Emma said, walking to it and grabbing the books, her eyes scanning each and every one of them and there was familiarity in her eyes.

"Emma?"

She faces us. "I have been here... in my dreams" she mumbled. "Some nights I would dream of studying here but I just narrowed it down as being tired, Look" she showed us the grimoire she held.

"Blood magic," I said with wide eyes reading the contents. This explains everything... how she was able to do blood magic, an ancient spell not even none of us have learned.

Did she learn it all by herself? In here, in her dreams? I was too stunned to the point I didn’t move, this is amazing, she’s amazing. And it is also yet another discovery of her being a vortex. Her dreams were powerful, she can most likely walk the real world in her dreams, a subconscious spell that enables you to do things in your mind without moving your body.

’Dream walking’

My eyes went back and forth between the twins mumbling something to themselves and keeping me out of it. There was something about Emma, something odd and something far more than we can ever understand, and most likely Grayson too, I mean he was able to perform new magic so easily and he was a healer too. Could this be because they are half-bloods? There was much we didn’t understand about being half-bloods.

Because over the centuries in our family, mixed breeding was never allowed because of the consequences it had many years ago, a tale about ’Fairies’ who were a mixture of sprite and human blood, because of their nature they were sorted out by warlocks for horrifying purposes, I don’t really remember the details but the pursuit was so dreadful that mixed breeding was stopped.

Everyone wanted purebreds not just because of the potential but securing the lineage.

Emma and Grayson are the first half-bloods in centuries... so now they were a mystery, one was Vortex and the other was a Newblood.

A vortex that would be claimed by the werelions... my fist tightened at the mere thought of it. No matter what Emma thinks she doesn’t have a future with him, she was yet to understand that... a further mixture of bloodlines cannot happen, and I can’t let Dace ruin every bit of future she has for his selfish desires.

I turned my eyes to the shelves and I swallowed a lump in my throat. Everything I do... I do it for her.

I walked towards it.
