Chapter 335: The Grimoire Of Rewrites

EMMA

~

It was like having something handed to you on a silver platter... that is exactly what transpired right now. A moment ago Grayson and I had no chance of finding out what we were looking for, it was a futile attempt but right now, in my hands... I have found it.

’The Grimoire of Rewrites’. And the contents were exactly what I needed.

"You think this is it?" Grayson murmured beside me making sure Owen didn’t hear, engrossed with going through the other shelves.

"Yes" I whispered back to him and he gave me a nod before taking the book and hiding it under his jacket. Luckily it wasn’t thick-sized like the rest so it easily fit in.

"So guys"

We twirled finding Owen walking toward us, he looked nervous.

"So what do you say we keep this a secret and just explore all the books here"

"Yeah," I snapped. "T-That’s a good idea, I mean let’s have all the fun first, there might be interesting spells we can learn"

A small smile found his lips. "Emma..." he began in a serious tone. "You realized what you did was dream walking, right?"

"Dream walking?" Grayson said puzzled and I mirrored his expression.

"Yeah, coming here to learn spells while dreaming, that is what it’s called, making a physical connection with the real with hence dreaming"

My mouth fell agape, okay I never thought of that.

"Its a spell no one has ever been capable of"

"I guess that’s what it means to be a vortex as much as I hate it"

"Nothing about you is to hate Emma," he said with so much intensity and I blushed. "I know having all these on your shoulder weighs on you especially when you have to follow someone else orders because you don’t have a choice, but I’m always here for you, you know that right"

I said nothing with a forced smile and then nodded. I know his words were true and I believe him more than anything. Owen is a good person and he always looks out for me.

"I just want you to know that everything I do is for you" he adds.

"He really likes you," Grayson said as we walked out of the covenstead. "It’s in his eyes... in his voice"

"I know" I mumbled only not wanting to talk about it because it always brings pain to my chest. I knew of Owen’s genuine feelings but I can’t accept it. "He deserves better"

"I don’t think he sees it that way" He shrugged. "So what now? Now we have the spell how do you intend to get Dace to see you, you haven’t heard from him in weeks"

"I was thinking of making contact with him through Emilia, she reads my message but she doesn’t reply to me"

"You think they are in some kind of trouble?"

"I don’t know... I just hope everything is okay" I bit my bottom lip, I was worried and really hoped we could hear from them soon.

I mean... is Dace okay?

Are his shifts still painful?

Has he transmitted to a rogue finally?

I really need to find a way to meet him so I can reverse whatever was happening to him, I need to do this for him and for us.

The sound of my phone ringing caught me off guard, I quickly tried to find it out of my pocket as Grayson set his bike.

"Fuck" I hissed silently trying to slide my phone out of my tight jeans pocket, super tight, I just silently prayed my screen haven’t cracked because of it. Because I remembered forcing it into my pocket earlier.

"Ha," I sighed, finally sliding it out and thankfully the screen wasn’t cracked. What caught my attention instead was the unknown number calling me, okay that was a first.

Not thinking much about it and silently praying it was my boyfriend I picked but I kept silent first.

"Emma?"

A sense of familiarity flushed through me. "Hayden?"

"Oh thank god! I’m at the airport"

"Huh?"

"I boarded a plane as fast as I could... we really need to see Emma, can you come, please?"

I opened my mouth but no words came from me, I looked at Grayson who gave me a puzzled look.

"Okay... I will pick you up at the airport" I ended the call.

"Emma?" Grayson said.

"It’s Hayden I have to meet her up at the airport"

"Hayden?"

~

The moment the cab arrived at the airport I rushed and told him to wait which would only take a minute, he nodded and I quickly scurried into the slightly busy hall. My eyes scanned the area and at the same time had a number of thoughts. I haven’t seen Hayden ever since the incident at her concert and later on my mom quit telling me that Hayden has not performed ever since that day, she didn’t know why because she was off the job and she didn’t have Hayden’s personal number.

So I surfed through the internet and it was true when I saw the headline.

’Prodigy Quits Singing, After Incident At The Concert In Washington’s New Year Event’.

There were tons of questions from the reporters and they remained unanswered, she was out of the spotlight so discreetly, it was a very hot topic even now. I felt bad for her and worried, having to leave the spotlight having made a name for herself along with others who support her just suddenly vanished.

I know there must be a reason.

I sighed looking around for the tenth time so I made an attempt to call that number not when a hand tapped my shoulder and I panicked with a swirl.

"Relax it’s me," she said and I hardly recognized her, because of the hoodie and shades.

"Hay-"

She hugged me before I could finish her name, a tight profound hug as she shuddered on me and I realized she was crying. So I said nothing and hugged her back. She must have really been through a lot and yet she reached out for me.
