Chapter 298: The Truth From 17 Years Ago

The truth was measured and my lungs were hooked as well as my thoughts. The uneven feeling that depleted my very body couldn’t possibly wake me from this truth... the truth that was set before my eyes like a long-lost dream igniting before my eyes. What is real? What is the truth? If the truth were revealed like this then... would it ever be known?

It took Grayson’s desperate attempts to meet with his mother to bring us here to this reality that played before our eyes like a blow to our very faces, was it meant to ease us or cause more confusion? My mom gave birth to two babies today and yet I have remained her only child for 17 years... that was a fact I was still trying to wrap my head around. What could possibly be the cause?

The new attempts for more answers swirled through my brain and my very eyes and the same curiosity was driven to Grayson’s orbs too, he showed the same questions that were in desperate need of answers, but I was just as desperate as he was, I can’t deliver answer when I was just as stunned as he was.

We locked gazes unable to part our eyes as we relived the truth of sharing the same blood, all the equal traits we shared were getting their meaning, the strange attraction that had nothing to do with any romantic feelings, the strange understanding we had of each other, how well we know what our mind absorbs without asking, just a feel and we knew what, all questions were brought to this moment for the right answer.

No words could come from us, I wasn’t so sure I could utter a word right now, because I was still paralyzed within and outside, our hands just remained tightly locked solely because we can’t part them because of this dimension but I was beginning to think that wasn’t the case. We didn’t want to part our hands, the comfort it gave in this situation was at its best and undeniably melodic for both of us.

Because if we didn’t want to live through the shocking truth we would have parted our hands.

"She was blessed with two"

We heard a voice and we were forced to turn our gaze back to the glass. We stilled the moment she saw none other than the nurse, well one of them who attended to us and a strange figure, judging by it, was a man but from this angle, his back was facing us so we couldn’t get a good look at him, only his suit that came into the light.

"The first of the two born with two mixed bloodlines"

Even the nurse’s voice was different, she didn’t have her American accent any longer but spoke like she had a native tongue. Could it be that she actually wasn’t a real nurse?

"Grayson" I panicked. Grayson kept his eyes on the two, determined to find out what would happen next and perhaps have the answers we seek at why we were separated at birth.

"What should we do?"

"As planned," the man said and his voice was deep and yet so smooth. "Separating them is what’s best... they cannot be too close to each other not until it’s time"

"Of course... There’s a woman who gave birth to a still child... by your permission I will give the girl to her and come up with a story, everything is in place" she reached for me.

"No!" His voice boomed and the nurse froze in place like she was caught in a trap. I could see the fear in her eyes and it made me wonder what sort of authority the man had on her. No doubt he looked like the one in charge.

I watched anxiously as my heart hammered in my chest as the man’s hand reached for me in the box and felt my cheek, it was a soft gesture and I swore I felt it right where I am.

"She looks so much like her mother" he stated, "Let her be with her instead and ..." he trailed off and moved his other hand to caress Grayson on his bald head and he moved due to the action.

Where we were standing I felt Grayson shiver that could only mean he felt this man’s touch just as I did.

"The boy goes away, he is his sister’s anchor and must be strong and worthy for that"

"Then it is a good idea for the woman I intend to entrust him with is a Venatores"

"Good"

"And the mother?"

"I will see her" he walked out of the room.

Grayson moved before I could... eager to find out, we both rushed to the door we were certain the man exited from but he was nowhere to be seen like he just vanished.

"Where did he go?!" Grayson demands getting frustrated,

"I-I don’t know" I panicked just as well and silently prayed in my head, praying that we should at least get a glimpse of his face.

"H-He was going to mom’s room, I think he’s going to do something to her"

I saw the fear clustering Grayson’s eyes and before we knew it we both bolted back to her room, on our way I noticed the lights were flickering and I wondered why.

After several turns and we were close to her room, we heard voices, and that only made us increase our pace as we rushed in.

"Oh Vivian I’m so sorry I’m late," Vanessa said, taking a seat on the bed.

"Vanessa" I mumbled trying to catch my breath.

"Vanessa" my mom broke into tears.

"W-What happened? Did something happen to you? To the baby?"

My mom shook her head. "No no, she’s wonderful"

"She?"

She sobbed, nodding. "It’s a girl," she mused.

I covered my mouth at my mom’s words, she said ’girl’ but she gave birth to twins, what happened?

"A girl?" my aunt said happily.

"You should see her, she’s so perfect,"

"That’s great news, sis, I’m happy for you but..." I paused. "Why are you crying?"

She engulfed my aunt in a tight hug.

"Sis?"

"I thought maybe... maybe he would come but he didn’t"

"Its okay, sis"

"You found happiness, sis," my aunt sighed. "Even if it was for a short time. But now you have an even bigger joy"

She wiped her tears.

"I wish I would meet him, would have given him a piece of my mind"

She chuckled.

"I’m sorry Vanessa, you barely heard from me for years, it must be a shock"

"Yes, it was shocking, but what greater joy than having a mini you"

She snickered. "I’m sorry I pulled away"

My aunt shook my head. "You had a dream and you chased it, I’m sure mom and dad would have been proud"

"Oh, Vanessa" she hugged me tightly.

"There there, I’m right here okay"

"Mom..." I turned to Grayson who did the same thing. "She doesn’t remember giving birth to you"
