Chapter 299: If Patience Was Not a Virtue
Chapter 299: If Patience Was Not a Virtue
DACE
~
I felt like my entire body was clawing at me... I thought I would be able to tolerate it but I couldn’t. My eyes were like a hawk on Emma and Grayson as still as a statue with hands locked, it has been just a minute but my body was plodding to go to Emma and stop this.
I hated it whenever she used magic for I knew the price it cost her, but she assured me that it was her and Grayson performing the spell and it won’t have that much of an effect. So far so good nothing was out of the ordinary, Emma wasn’t bleeding so we’re good.
But that doesn’t mean I won’t worry, I vehemently felt the urge to march to her and rip their hand apart, but I called for patience, one virtue I was fighting so hard to endure.
My arms folded across my chest tightly, my beast in my head clawing at me, it has been doing that much lately but I always ignored it, I knew it was still the side effects from transmitting as a Rogue, but as long as Emma was right here with me and in my thoughts the beast shuts up, it respects its Female just as much as I did and I was grateful for that.
I couldn’t take my eyes off my baby girl, she was facing me so I could see her quite well, her closed eyes and her comfortable breathing. I checked for anything I would find alarming or any effect of the spell but none came, everything was okay now right?
Like my thoughts betrayed me the lights in the hall started flicking like the switch was bad or something but I knew that was far from the case.
’Shit!" I silently cursed knowing very well where that energy was coming from, I could feel it... it was coming from where Grayson and Emma stood like their bodies were pulsing from invisible energy but whatever it was it was growing, faster than I could count.
Okay, times up!
I marched towards them in a great attempt to end it and keep my baby from danger’s teeth but it was already happening as I feared, the energy dispersed and it blow along with a strong invisible wind, I just used my elbow to block the force and hoping I won’t get blown away, it was super strong and it got my shoes sliding backward but I stood my ground in a great attempt to get to them.
Suddenly it diminished and I released my arm from my path and found the two of them on the ground, I panicked and rushed to Emma.
"Emma!" I called as I pulled her to my lap, oh god she was so cold, cold like that nightmare she had that affected her in the real world, it was like holding a dead body and I was already panicking.
"Emma, wake up!" I gripped her cheeks as my hand trembled to hold her. I stayed still and listened and did not panic quickly and then I heard it... her heartbeat was faint but it was coming up slowly like a speeding dial.
"Wake up," I said desperately and she came to it like she was drowning before.
Grayson did too as he sat up with a start and gasping for breath, I would have held onto him to steady his movements but too bad, Emma gets the attention first, she’s all that matters.
"Breathe Emma, Breathe" I smooched her trailing my hand up and down her head before gripping her cheek, she shivered under me, her body was cold but not as cold as before but something was definitely icy. I released my warmth to her body and she instantly got warm and stopped shaking.
"D-Dace" she set her captivating green eyes on me and I found relief knowing she was okay.
’What happened?"
She paused like she was trying to recall and her brain was rebooting, it took only a second as her eyes went wide as saucers, and turned her entire attention to Grayson trying to calm his breathing, their gazes locked and I got an odd feeling in the air.
"What happened?!" I demanded again, eager to get my answers but it was like I wasn’t even there. Emma pulled away from me much to my surprise and she crawled to Grayson before pulling him in a tight endless hug.
Grayson hugged back just the same way burying his face in her neck, holding her like it was the end of the world for both of them or they might not see each other,
I tried to fight the growing jealousy within me and told myself that it was nothing romantic but that didn’t seem to be the case for me. I didn’t like his hands on her and I was eager to rip her away from him and set her back on my lap so that I could feel her body, But this wasn’t the time for this, I needed answers.
"Emma," I said but a little growl left me, at least it was enough to break them apart after the prolonged hug that got my body overheating from watching.
I stilled when I realized tears were rolling from her eyes and my looks softened, I was worried now.
"Dace" she sobbed.
Something is wrong... really wrong.
"G-Grayson is my brother"
~
"Twins?" I couldn’t wipe the shock off my face, they told me everything and I was still unable to believe it. How?
Emma nods. "We got separated at birth," She said, turning her eyes to Grayson who looked at her too. "We don’t know what happened exactly but I think my mom doesn’t remember giving birth to Grayson too"
"Did someone wipe her memory?" I asked because that was the only explanation for it.
Emma and Grayson’s eyes went wide like a switch was flipped up and fuck me if I said I just saw the resemblance these two had, how could I not see it until now?
"That man," Emma said like a culmination got to her.
What man?
"He must have wiped her memories"
