BLOOD LEGACIES
Chapter 154: Her Choice

Chapter 154: Her Choice

On our walk to the office a stony quietness filled us, I felt no need to talk because my head was on a toll and my heart was sprinting. I took several glances at Owen but he just had his eyes focused ahead. He said nothing to me ever since we came out of the room and I was getting worried, but I was more worried about the choice I had to make.

I was attracted to Dace in all possible ways. I want nothing more than to be with him, I want nothing more but to see his face everyday. Without him, I feel lost, but his future wife? Mother to his cubs? That was a lot to take in, I mean I still have school to think about and my mom, it was just like Vanessa said I can’t abandon my life but at the same time I can’t let go of Dace either, I exhaled sharply, my nerves were all over the place.

"Owen" I finally found myself speaking but he didn’t answer me. "Owen" he looked at me. "W-What should I do?" I noticed his eyes softened when I asked that question but he quickly looked away.

"You know what I want Emma," he said in a simple tone and it was heavy with so much emotion and then he looked at me, and I wished he didn’t because I saw everything before his eyes, loud and clear. He stopped and so I did too without taking my eyes off him, he finally looked away.

"This is about you, not me" he opened the door, he sounded almost like he had given up? "The choice is yours" he gave way for me to step into the office, I was hesitant until I did. My breath shaky and my heart slamming so loud, I looked back and forth at the company we had.

Oliver on his seat, Elias and then I locked gaze with Dace, he looked calm than he was before, almost like the first day I met him, he never took his eyes off me as I made my way to the center and I didn’t too, he watches me closely with hands in his pocket jeans. I didn’t wanna look away.

"Emma"

I broke gaze with him and met Oliver’s, he looked so much like Owen, like an older version of him.

"You have only been in the supernatural world for a few months... there are things you understand, yes?"

I nodded only because I couldn’t find my voice right now, all eyes were on me and it made me super nervous.

"You know of the blood oath?"

I nodded.

"Then you should know because of the mark belonging to the Devereaux heir the blood oath no longer applies to you"

I bit my lip, my fingers mingling with the tip of the cardigan, I was trying to calm down but I couldn’t.

"You’re still 17 and a part of our clan... therefore there’s a choice for you to make, we leave this up to you because I’m not a monster"

I moved my eyes to him. I didn’t like him the first time I saw him when he took me away from them, but right now he seemed considerate about my feelings.

"So tell us, Emma, although it is evitable you will go with them, we still want to know your thought on the matter"

"Will it matter?" I asked before I could stop myself, because he said it himself, this was inevitable.

"Of course," Dace said and I was forced to look at him. "I will only follow your choice, Emma, you know that"

I felt my chest tighten, he wanted me to decide even though I was meant to be with him, I could see it all in his eyes, the emotions at play. If I was human it would have been easier just like Vanessa said but right now I was torn between two clans to make one choice or the other, Dace was giving me a say in this and it almost brought tears to my eyes so I leveled my gaze to the floor, and I exhaled sharply.

I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what to do, but everyone wants an answer from me, an answer that will determine my future. I just stood there making the floor the best piece for me to stare at...I was lost and confused but a certain word rang in my head at that moment.

"Always know honey, always go for what you want as long as you feel it’s right"

My mom’s words rang in my head, and I closed my eyes. I don’t know why I thought of her words right now but it just seemed to click. What do I think was right? I flicked open my eyes and stared directly at Oliver.

"I choose both"

"What?" he was taken back by my decision.

"Emma, you have to choose one clan," Vanessa said behind me.

"You all said it was my choice right?" there was a pause. I faced Dace, he seemed like he was trying to read me now.

"E-Even though I’m bound to you... I’m still a half-witch. It was hard at first trying to accept this part of me because I was scared and at the same time, I wanted to feel different" I faced back Oliver. "Emilia told me the bargain and the blood oath was struck to keep the families in check... and that no bloodline have ever been mixed before"

Not until Dace and I, although it didn’t make sense and I could tell they all felt the same way, but we all faced the truth of the situation right now.

"A clan hardly gives up one of their own, I have witch blood, and it’s still a part of me" I exhaled sharply and I raised my head up high and let them know I was serious about this, I knew from the very moment I was told to make a choice it didn’t only affect my future but the Clan so I was going neutral.

"I choose both"
