Chapter 155: The Gravity Of Your Choice

Chilly silence filled the office to the point it was almost impossible, yet I stood my ground focusing my entire gaze on Oliver although that was a difficult feat for me. Getting no answer from anyone was really freaking me out! Wasn’t I supposed to choose both? I mean it’s my choice, right? Will they accept it? I bit my bottom lip because I got more nervous and uncertain about my choice, this silence wasn’t helping at all.

"Do you understand the gravity of this decision?" Oliver finally broke the silence.

And I released a sharp exhale. "Y-Yes"

"And?"

I took a deep gulp. "I will still continue my studies here as a witch, and..." I faced Dace, should I say be his wife? I shook my head. "Date Dace Devereaux ’’ he raised an eyebrow at my words and I blushed looking away. Saying ’Date’ was easier than saying his wife, it made me awkward.

"You do know not everyone will welcome the fact that you’re in a relationship with a Devereaux"

Was there any time anyone accepted it?

"Surely they will frat... The mark is all the evidence they need of Emma’s relationship, it doesn’t sully the blood oath, they will learn to accept it" Elias intoned.

"This is something that has never happened" Vanessa spoke this time. "A mixed bloodline? We have known to only honor those of our clan"

"And yet she bears my son’s mark... yes impossible... times are changing Miss Adams, rather than turn a blind eye we accept it, for the betterment of everyone," Elias said in a calm tone. "We all know and are certain that these two won’t stay apart from each other"

Another silence filled the office.

"You made an interesting choice, young one" I directed my gaze to him. "Choosing both sides..." he almost huffed. "Really interesting"

"She had made a decision," Oliver cut in. "We will respect... but you should know Emma balancing this is..." he paused before exhaling.

"I will stand by her"

My eyes darted to Dace and then he took gradual steps toward me, my heart beat banged with each step he took toward me.

"I will always respect your decision Emma" he added in a velvety tone that sent shivers to my spine. He stood just before me and I was dying for him to touch me or reach for me, I just wanted to feel his touch right at this moment... but he made no attempt to do so, or so I thought, this was Dace I was talking about, the word ’Shame’ was not on his dictionary.

I almost held my breath when he advanced on me and swiftly pulled some strands of my loose strawberry blond hair from my ponytail, behind my ear. I almost dissolved when his hand brushed against it. I closed my eyes trying to imprint his touch on my brain for I was afraid he would pull away and I would forget how it felt, this was so drastic and my body was shuddering.

"Ahem!"

I jumped at the sound facing the company and I blushed deeply, I completely forgot there were others here, I always lost myself in Dace’s presence.

"It’s decided then," Oliver said, rising to his feet. "Emma Adams, you will learn to be what you are... we will take special care of you for you’re different, the last incident will not repeat itself"

"What incident?" Dace demanded as he scowled, I haven’t told him yet of my painful spell adventure.

"...And also you shall maintain your relationship with Dace Devereaux as his..." he paused.

"Female," Elias said and he nodded.

"Yes, Female" the tone he used for ’Female’ doesn’t sound pleased and I gulped, his expression was not something I could read too.

The loud sound of the door slamming behind us echoed and I twirled, someone was missing in the room and it was Owen.

"Emma"

I faced my aunt.

"Can I see you for a bit?"

~

"Are you angry?"

"What? No no"

"Vanessa"

She sighed heavily, she nodded before giving me a big smile. "I’m not Emma really... I’m proud... proud that you made such a decision, you didn’t choose just him you choose your life too"

"Wasn’t I supposed to?"

She chuckled. "You were brawling with yourself minutes ago"

She was right about that... It was a hard time coming up with this decision. Vanessa’s hand on mine broke me from my thoughts.

"All that remains is balancing this..."

I forced a smile. "Does it mean you finally accept Dace?"

"It won’t be that easy, Emma"

I nodded in understanding... I get her, I really do.

"None of this will be easy, Emma" she leveled her eyes to my chest and I knew it was because of my mark.

"I-I can’t do this alone, Vanessa"

"You’re not alone, Emma, together" she cupped my cheeks and I gave a warm smile.

"It’s been a while since you smiled at me like this... I’m happy, does it mean you aren’t angry at me again?"

"It won’t be easy, Vanessa," I mused.

She chuckled at my words and then I noticed her eyes behind me.

"I will leave you" she gave me a hug and I sighed in relief at her comfort, before she pulled away and I watched her exit the hall.

I heard an approaching footstep behind me and I twirled, locking gazes with hazel orbs and I was trapped where I was.

He stopped, giving an inch of space between us. I shyly leveled my gaze because our staring competition was getting out of hand and he was winning.

"S-So.." I began but it was a poor attempt, but I just needed to break the silence, I mean what was I supposed to say?

"I know what you’re thinking, Emma" he began in that captivating voice of his, and I closed my eyes allowing it to echo in my ears.

"I don’t want you uncomfortable"

I flicked my eyes open.

"If you don’t wanna talk about it’s okay"

I shifted my gaze to him.

"I’m dating Emma Adams, that’s simpler, isn’t it?" he gave me a perfect soft smile that made my mind race. My body was itching, my inwards were screaming, and the butterflies in my stomach were becoming hard to settle. His words have long vanished from my senses and all I could think of was this gorgeous werelion before me, slaughtering me with his luscious scent.

The very mark at my left breast throbbed when he closed the distance between us and my impulse to breathe was gone.
