BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 153: A Choice To Make
Chapter 153: A Choice To Make
EMMA
~
The look Dace gave Henry and Miles shook my bones, it looked almost like he would kill them and I could hear the growls leaking from him as he spoke. Henry and Miles were in danger and I could feel it, I should be frightened of the murderous intent he had right now but there was a strong feeling inside of me to calm him down so I said his name and like the spell was broken he finally set his eyes on me, eyes that I missed so much, those particular gorgeous hazels, I haven’t seen him for weeks and finally he was here before him, with his hand strongly against my waist, was this a dream?
"Get away from her Dace!" Owen came into view. "You came for a meeting and not for her"
And then Dace released a growl that shook the entire house and my blood ran cold, my wide eyes centered on Dace who had his eyes gleaming, his grip on my waist further tightened that it almost hurt... almost. Not until the loud sound of his name came through and I shifted my gaze to his dad, Oliver, and Vanessa, and then Dace said something mysterious.
"Emma bears my mark... she’s my Female"
Mark? Female? What was he talking about? And how does he know I have a mark?
"Are you certain?" Elias asked with a bit of a surprised look.
"Yes," Dace said unwavering.
What was going on? What were they talking about? And that word Female, that was the exact word Emilia said to me that day. I leisurely faced Elias who gave me an unreadable expression but judging from his looks he needed no further explanation about what Dace said.
"Are you saying what you came to speak to me is actually true?" Oliver demands. Did they come to talk about this, and why?
"Let us hear it from her then... so it wouldn’t seem like we are making false accusations" he faced me back and I tensed at his looks. "Young one, do you bear any mark?" he asked.
And I tautened further. I felt Dace’s eyes on me but I couldn’t look at him right now, my head was swirling with questions. I don’t know how long I kept quiet, but they all seemed to patiently wait for me to say something.
"Y-Yes," I said faintly.
"And the initials?"
"D" saying that out loud a realization struck me hard and I was forced to move my eyes to Dace who kept his eyes on me almost like he was trying to read me. He said earlier I bear his mark and the initials were D, does it D for Dace? That can’t be, right?
"We have honored a sacred tradition for years, not just a tradition but a fated match" Elias continued. "Made since Werelions came to existence"
"I have only heard of that, is it not a myth?" Oliver said, puzzled, he seemed confused.
"There’s much we don’t know about the werelions, why tell us this?" Vanessa asked, she looks calm but I knew that was the opposite.
"I will disclose it because my son’s female is your niece"
We all seemed more confused at this point and he seemed to catch on.
An amusement crossed his eyes. "To put it in a further understanding for you... his future wife, and mother to his unborn cubs, Is that a better explanation?"
"What?!" Vanessa wailed.
My eyes rolled at the back of my head.

I leisurely opened my eyes trying to recall what happened and I did, aside from the mind blowing news but the fact that I fainted in front of everybody was so embarrassing, which should I stomach? I was having a hard time disgusting that.
"Emma" I shifted my gaze to Vanessa who gave me a weak smile.
"Please tell me I didn’t faint"
Her smile broadened and I got the answer I needed, earning a groan from me as I covered my face.
"Rather than be embarrassed there is more pressing..." she paused, I retreated my hand from my face, adjusting my glasses as I sat up.
She sighed heavily. "I have only wanted you to be safe and now you’re bound to one of them?"
"W-What Elias said... is it true?"
"Of course it’s true, Emma"
My heartbeat quickened.
"We have only heard rumors of it but today proved it true, that mark" she pointed to my left chest and I felt it. "I was there when you were born Emma you have no such thing... which could only mean this is true" she added the last part in a whisper.
"Vanessa" I placed my hand on hers.
"This is more heart-wrenching than I thought... what do you think about this?"
The truth is I don’t know... I have only just gotten a piece of news that made me faint, my brain was still trying to process this, I don’t know what to think of it, it was all too much of a discovery but before I could help myself a question bugging me left me.
"Where’s Dace?"
She exhaled sharply. "With his father and Oliver talking..."
"What will happen now?"
"You’re a half-witch Emma... still one of us, this mark of yours violates even the blood oath...." she paused. "And at the same time do not... I know the werelion’s Emma, they won’t let this slide"
I gulped.
"There will have to be a balance"
"A balance?"
"I don’t want you to be in a situation where you would have to choose Emma, I knew what you passed through because I made you choose" she placed a hand on top of mine. " But I’m afraid you have to right now...Being bound to a werelion doesn’t mean you should abandon your life... I want you to understand that. Which is why the choice is yours"
"W-What?"
"This choice will be yours... you get to decide"
Can I? When only that happened to me was nothing but others making choices for me, but now I had to choose?
We heard the door and we both turned, I was hoping to see Dace but I saw Owen, and the look he had on was something I couldn’t read.
"The Clan leader will see you now, Emma," he said in a shifted tone not meeting my eyes.
"Emma"
I faced Vanessa.
"Make the right choice"
Can I?
